Highly recommendable! The hosts make you feel home immediately and their hospitality is amazing! Very romantic spot in Umbria next to sunflower fields and olive trees. The dinner is out of this world, handmade and as organic as it gets. Thanks so much for everything!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a separate shower, as some only have a wet cell built into a tiny bathroom next...

And when you leave, you dream of coming back, as many hosts do, actually. Indeed, that is what we did. We found this casale, by chance, and the room was available for one night only. So we went away for a few days and came back, to enjoy the place for a few more days... The hosts are charming, the location is great, with many different places where you can enjoy the view, the stars, the swimming pool... It is a real farm, and the restaurant for the hosts is of prime quality.
As a matter of fact, it is an address you would like to keep private. But the family owner are so nice that their place and themselves have to be known and thanked for their hospitaliy.

Sylvana, Corrado and Michele are the most wonderful hosts you can ever imagine. Their generosity and warm hospitality make you feel at home from the first moment you arrive. Their knowledge of the environment is also great. Great to see Corrado’s dedication to his animals and products. At the end of the afternoon, after visiting the medieval cities, it was a pleasure to relax at the swimming pool having an imposing view on the Umbrian scenery. The warm hospitality could not be better felt than during dinner. Every day Sylvana served a variety of their local dishes, including plenty of wine and water. It was nice to have our coffee outside, under the pergola, chatting with Sylvana and the other guests and improving our Italian. We loved our stay and certainly recommend this Agriturismo . We certainly will return.

Fantastic holiday Aug 11. 1st class ticked in all the boxes. Relax, chill and enjoy....this great Umbrian treat is a MUST. Our family loved every day (two weeks) we spent here. We will return soon. Great location, great family-run hosts, great home cooked Italian food and such a great welcome. Hospitality is 'top' here, which is hard to find these days. Thank you so much Sylvana, Corrado and Michele and not to forget Clara. Also all the lovely cats, as well as the animals on the farm........kids just loved this. Oh and your little dog, very cute. See you again soon. Warmest regards....The Fays. xxx

Summary. Highly, highly recommended; fantastic hosts serving out-of-this-world home cooked Umbrian food - all grown or raised on the property - in a fantastically kept, unbelievably charming converted monastery that is centrally located to some beautifully picturesque, walled Italian villages! (Wifi is provided) Web site: http://www.casaledeifrontini.it/index_eng.html

Narrative

As Canadians living in Europe, we took the advice of good Australian friends who stayed at the Caslae (with kids) for two separate summers and raved about it. Though we could not get away during the Summer, we booked a week long stay at the Casale dei Frontini at end October 2011.

We are fairly experienced travellers; understanding that the rating systems for accomodation vary across Europe , all we ever hope for is a clean room and good housekeeping standards. Never having been to an Agriturismo before, we were not sure what awaited, but after visiting their website, we knew that even though it was in Umbria, this may have been our "one shot" at an "Under a Tuscan Sun" pilgrimage (for my wife, of course!).

Our hosts,The Family Tripetta (Mom and Dad [Sylvana and Corrado] and son [manager] Michele), keep a beautiful Old World Farmhouse/Inn. (For your info, while Michele speaks fantastic English, an Italian phrase book and some skill with charades and pictionary will help your communication with Corrado and Sylvana :) even though Corrado speaks some French! IThat said, we noted that communicating was never a problem, as the buzzwords in Italian are easy - "partite de vino rosso, per favore!!" and "si, gusto bene!"

Even though it was off season, the Casale - and our hosts - exceeded our expectations; the rooms are not five star, but they are very cozy and quaint (in a good sense!), comfortable, and with TV and ensuite. We were struck by the views across the valley, and though it was late Fall it was still awe-inspiring (I managed to fill my sketch pad with more than a few etchings).
As for a few days we were the only guests in the Casale, Sylvana did most of the cooking (in peak season they apparetnly have a great in-house chef, Clara). Note that the breakfast was not amazing - typical low end continental, (jams, some rustic breads, cereal ,juices etcetera with no hot choices whatsoever - though the espresso and macchiatos were plentiful. Given the timings for breakfast (0800-0900) we did not feel we were missing anything by sleeping-in through breakfast and grabbing a quick espresso and croissant in the nearby village. Dinner, though - my goodness - this is not something to be missed!!! Each evening, a set-menu of a full four course homemade meal of antipasto, pasta, and a meat dish, followed by a noice simple fresh dessert, washed down with plentiful carafes of their house red wine!!! The antipasto - salumi plates, squash flowers fritters, egg plant parmagiana; secundi platti of pasta - creams and tomato sauces covering gnoccis, linquines, tagliatis; and then add simple grilled meats of home-grown chickens or chianina beef (which Corrado will show off with great pride!). I rolled away from the table every night more than happily sated and at times, over full!

As for the surrounding area - the casale is well located only minutes fromTodi and other sites. Upon arrival , Sylvana was quick to map out a five day itinerary for us with al the local spots to see. A short and scenic 90 minute drive from Fumincino Airport in Rome (and trust the directions on the Website, though they seem too simple in these days of SATNAVs and GPS), we made day trips inour rental car (you do need a car here) to the surrounding area and as far as Firenze (2 hours), Perugia (30 mins) and Cortona (60 mins). If you like Italian ceramics, there is no shortage in the village of Deruta (15 mins) - ask the Tripettas for a recommendation and a discount!

All in all a fantastic trip! We booked over the internet, providing a deposit via Paypal. It is a very busy place during the summer offering a great looking pool area, gardens and play area (including table tennis and bocce). We hope to capitalise on one more visit this summer, during the sunflower season, before heading back to Canada and longingly looking at their website and reminiscing on a great trip.

I would highly recommend the Casale dei Frontini - knowing full well that I may be competing with you for a booking!!!

Room Tip: The double rooms all seemed fine. We did not rent an apartment site. Our room, on the top level, fa...

Other reviewers have given rave reviews for Casale dei Frontini and here is another one: this is exactly the place my husband and I have dreamed of. We stayed for 5 days at the end of September/beginning of October 2011 and hated leaving. Location, ambience, food, hosts - all deserve five stars. We feel very very lucky to have been able to stay here.
