Residenza D'Epoca San Lorenzo Tre

My daughter and I loved our 2 night stay at San Lorenzo Tre in October. Simone was a perfect host, the rooms were lovely - very clean with everything you need, great breakfast, internet, free parking at the base of the town with a tram to the top, right off the beautiful main square. We happened to arrive on a holiday of the patron saint, complete with chiming church bells, processional, and a fun marketplace. Some great restaurants and lovely little shops.

Todi is probably my favorite town in Italy. I was there many years ago, and heard that it had become "touristy" but we found it still beautiful and peaceful. Next time we will stay longer at San Lorenzo Tre and use this as our base for exploring Umbria - Orvieto, Spello, Bevagna, Montefalco, etc.

San Lorenzo Tre is a tough place to rate. The ground floor of this six room hotel, really a bed and breakfast, is dark and deserted. You have to walk up two long winding flights of marble stairs to get to the hotel entrance. Once there, you are greeted warmly by Simone, who was generous and helpful. He even offered to give up his parking space so we could park close to the hotel. The view is spectacular from the "lobby" (really just a desk in the small front sitting room) and from three of the six rooms. Ask for the main bedroom for the best views. In addition to the six guest rooms, there is an inviting sitting room filled with homey touches, a dining room, a loft and a roof- to patio. The breakfast was good, freshly made tarts and coffee, yogurt, granola, meats and cheeses. Surprisingly, after breakfast was served and the rooms were cleaned, the hotel had no one on staff until mid-afternoon when Simone came on duty. Guests were again alone after he left at around 8 in the evening. In a way it was fun. Guests were comfortable exploring all the nooks and crannies of this ancient house filled with family mementos. If you are looking for a full service hotel, though, this isn't it. Finally, the tiny bathrooms with a shower virtually on top of either the toilet or the sink, with weak water pressure was a little disappointing. If you value warmth, a great location, and charm this place is great. If you want all the creature comforts and lots of service, you should probably look elsewhere.

Room Tip: The main bedroom off the sitting room has the best views,

What a delightful place.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our few days at the San Lorenzo Tre.
Fantastic central location, beautiful room, magnificent views, friendly staff and a secret roof garden. The approach is somewhat "discrete" but worth the adventure.
Not a place for the geriatric but we loved it.
Perfect.

Room Tip: Request a room with a view.

The hotel, the surroundings and the people at the hotel was making our stay perfect with the warmth and kindness they gave.. Wonderful rooms, the view, the history of the hotel gave it a special and unforgetable character we don't forget. Very clean, very good breakfast in a charming diningroom. And a wondeful terrace on the roof. Thank you !!! We'll be back :-)

Occupying the top apartment of a 400-year-old building near the cathedral, this hotel is beautifully furnished and decorated in period style, with tasteful updating, and is very comfortable. The staff are exceptionally helpful and charming, there is a sunny roof terrace and the rooms have breathtaking views of Todi and beyond. Up several flights of stairs, but worth it.

The staff was very nice and i think also the price was good. Ididn't need interned, so i don't know if there is and if it is working, but anyway, everything was allright.

Considering the reviews I had read on trip advisor, I thought that San Lorenzo Tre would be a far different affair. We took a taxi, and it was wonderful to be able to be dropped in the Piazza de Popolo, steps from our doorway. But when we opened the front door, it was into a very dark area (which isn't easy to see in, even when the light is on). We passed other doorways on our way up the several flights of stairs (but the staff did carry our bags thankfully) and there is little sense of arrival at the door into San Lorenzo Tre. The front desk, manned by Simone (man) had a large 'arrangement' of fairly dead flowers for our three days, and our room which was the master bedroom, was rather ordinary. The boiler had broken down, so we had to walk down the stairs, out into the street, up another flights of stairs, and use the shower in another apartment owned by the same owner. (which we decided we preferred once our own shower started working again as there was little pressure, but we were given 10 euro a night off our tariff). Simone was wringing his hands despairing of this 'catastrophe'. Breakfast was adequate. However, there is a lot be said in favour of this establishment. There is an amazing array of old artworks, old photos, and trinkets from previous generations of the family. Adriana the cook is friendly and capable. Simone was extremely helpful in working out a country walk we could do and giving us times and connections for trains to Rome. Plus Chiara made dinner reservations for us before we arrived. We had a bottle of wine up on the top deck one evening, which gives great views over the surrounding countryside (if over some unattractive roofs). All in all, we were a little shocked at the beginning, but grew to enjoy the great location and our forays into the street with our towels and toiletries.

Room Tip: We had the master bedroom (supposedly, but who knows if it really was) which is just off the main en...
