“What a remarkable and lovely stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 26, 2012

Imagine visiting a different type of Italian city, backdropped by gloriously rugged mountains, in a region traditionally little visited by Americans. Imagine staying in a spacious bed and breakfast owned by an Italian-American from Boston, who knows which creature comforts are important to us and has renovated the facilities with high quality craftsmanship. Picture it located on the precise spot where you'd like to live, if you had the great fortune of owning the building in which this second floor bed and breakfast is located. Add to this glad mixture a very lovely family which attends to the visitors and introduces us to the wonderful things which are Abruzzese! The location is totally perfect. The parking is perfect. The rooms are clean and spacious and decorated in a simple but lovely way. We had Franca as our hostess, and a lovelier person doesn't exist. She was earnest in making sure we were comfortable, and we had wonderful conversations in broken languages, including explanations about the various types of Italian coffees. Her baking was divine, with a different torta de la nonna, or cookies every day. If one of the two rooms overlooking the piazza are available, take them! It was just so enjoyable looking out over the square and watching Sulmona come to life each morning. Time your visit to coincide with their Wednesday market day. Eat the most delicious porchetta panino from the yellow food truck! In our four days/nights stay, we did not hear one word of English spoken anywhere (though several of the locals could speak some English when pressed), and we thoroughly enjoyed the immersion into Abruzzo.

Room Tip: one of the two front rooms!

The Sei Stelle is perfectly positioned in the Centro Storico overlooking Piazza Garibaldi and the iconic ancient aqueduct which in fact makes an appearance as a major feature within the B&B! David and Simona looked after our every needs and also provided information on local amenities, journeys to nearby hilltowns and allowed us to view Sulmona from the rooftop terrace. Our room with balcony had superb furnishings which befitted an ancient palazzo but still had had modern touches like lighting, bathroom and wifi. Davide likes to make the stay feel like "home from home" and he succeeds especially at breakfast with his world famous sweet or sour pancakes and his mother in law Franca's wonderful homemade Abruzzian specialities.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking Piazza Garibaldi and the aqueduct.

My husband and I along with our daughter and son-in-law stayed for 5 nights at the Sei Stelle (9/25/12 to 9/30/12). It was a perfect place to stay in a perfect location. As other reviewers have written the B&B is spotlessly clean and very welcoming. We had a room that overlooked the aqueduct and the Piazza Garibaldi so we were able to see and hear the sights of the city. Davide was there every morning to make espresso (in fact while there we ordered from Amazon an espresso maker like the one he used) and crepes; every day his mother-in-law made a different goodie. He was also very helpful in making suggestions of restaurants and things to see. Since parking is off-site he went with us to show us where the garage was and how to access it. Wi-fi was consistent which is always a help when avoiding data roaming charges. Be aware that your room is cleaned every two days instead of every day.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the aqueduct and square can be noisy if you sleep with the window open but if close...

My extended family stayed there for four days in early September to visit our grandparents birthplaces. Davide, Simona and Franca did a terrific job taking care of us We couldn't have been happier. We felt like it was our own home. They really made the trip a wonderful experience

The place itself is top notch. High end furnishings and immaculate. I wouldn't stay anyplace else when I return next year.

This was an excellent choice for our stay in Sulmona. The service was exceptional. Davide and his mother-in-law took very good care of us. Our teenage daughters loved the fact that they had free WI-FI. The rooms were very charming, spacious and with modern amenities. The location was perfect-right next to the town square. Common areas were very nice. Breakfast consisted of lots of homemade goodies. We would definitely return.

We stayed for 4 nights 8/9/12 to 12/9/12...we had a brilliant tme in Sulmona and this bed and breakfast is wonderful...Davide the host was very helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. It is spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated and historically interesting. The breakfast room and communal areas are lovely and the roof terrace is a must see. The only downside was that we were asked to be quiet one day at 11.30am as some of the crew making the Italian film Un Natale coi Fiocchi were sleeping in....this did make us feel slightly uncomfortable!

First and formost, I want to start by saying, the two owners of the B&B are the nicest sweetest people. They are a young couple, and have made this place a mini paradise. You get the red carpet welcoming treatment, something ive never seen before in my life. You have access to the kitchen for use of the espresso maker, tea, snacks all day and night, yogurt, juice fresh fruits and more. Breakfast is free in the morning. Its meats and pasteries, a light breakfast if you will. Conveniently located in the heart of the city and only a ten minute taxi from the Sulmona train station. The rooms are spotless, beautifuly decorated, and painted. Each room supposedly has its own theme. quiet place overall. Free wifi in the B&B, once outside, if you do not have international service, you wont have any access in all of Sulmona excpet the B&B. I love it, and give it a five star rating. I am coming back to Sulmona next summer, and guess where I will be staying? Sei Stelle! Great job to the owners... You have one satisfied customer here. See you next year 2013
