“Fantastic B & B”

We stayed for 4 nights 8/9/12 to 12/9/12...we had a brilliant tme in Sulmona and this bed and breakfast is wonderful...Davide the host was very helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. It is spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated and historically interesting. The breakfast room and communal areas are lovely and the roof terrace is a must see. The only downside was that we were asked to be quiet one day at 11.30am as some of the crew making the Italian film Un Natale coi Fiocchi were sleeping in....this did make us feel slightly uncomfortable!

First and formost, I want to start by saying, the two owners of the B&B are the nicest sweetest people. They are a young couple, and have made this place a mini paradise. You get the red carpet welcoming treatment, something ive never seen before in my life. You have access to the kitchen for use of the espresso maker, tea, snacks all day and night, yogurt, juice fresh fruits and more. Breakfast is free in the morning. Its meats and pasteries, a light breakfast if you will. Conveniently located in the heart of the city and only a ten minute taxi from the Sulmona train station. The rooms are spotless, beautifuly decorated, and painted. Each room supposedly has its own theme. quiet place overall. Free wifi in the B&B, once outside, if you do not have international service, you wont have any access in all of Sulmona excpet the B&B. I love it, and give it a five star rating. I am coming back to Sulmona next summer, and guess where I will be staying? Sei Stelle! Great job to the owners... You have one satisfied customer here. See you next year 2013

We had a great stay in this lovely and friendly B&B just off the main square in Sulmona. Davide was very helpful and recommended some excellent local restaurants. It's a great base for touring the National Parks and the town itself is beautiful and very lively. I can't recommend it enough! We will certainly stay here when we pass this way again.

Our first review, but not our first stay. This great property sits on the Piazza Girabaldi in Sulmona. Here you are at the center of town where everything happens. Shops and restaurants are all here within a pleasant walk. Sei Stelle is a perfect place whether one to an entire family. (We had our entire family of 14 stay a few years ago.) This trip was a girls trip and three of us had a room looking out over the piazza. We were fortunate to be able to see the parades and the events of the Palio style medieval festival and horse race. This is an annual event in July. Franca, Davide and Simone are perfect hosts and wonderful people. The rooms are very clean and beautifully decorated. And the beds are most comfortable. As stated in the title this is really a home away from home for us and we will be back...soon, hopefully.

By chance we arrived in Sulmona during the final of the local Palio and were invited to join the rooftop party. The B&B overlooks the main piazza of the town where the event is held. A unique and a fun experience for us, and a passionate one for the local people.

What other reviews say is spot on. Franca is a terrific hostess and the room was perfect for our small family of three. Though the B&B is very central, there's a multi-level car park very close by, accessible from outside the city walls. This can be a bit hard to find for the uninitiated.

Incidentally Abruzzo is an ruggedly beautiful region and Sulmona is ancient and interesting.

Spent two nights at this wonderful property ideally located in the heart of Sulmona. The rooms are large, well appointed and spotlessly clean. One of the walls in our room was actually one of arches from the the iconic aqueduct that you see in most of the photos of Sulmona. Franca was so helpful throughout our stay (albeit a short one) and she makes one of the best cappuccinos in town. A small courtyard with a fountain is so peaceful to enjoy a book, share a conversation with other guests. Will definitely stay here next time our travels take us to Sulmona.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with the aqueduct's arch. If traveling as family it adjoins to another room; o...

My husband and I just returned from Italy and spent 6 days at Sei Stelle while enjoying the Abruzzo countryside and looking up family roots. I knew this would be a great experience from the time I started corresponding with Davide and Simone. They were very attentive to detail and ensuring a high level of comfort. The B&B itself fits the old city so well, with original aqueducts running through the structure and wonderful medieval recreations done by an art restorationist. The warm yellows with crimson accents were very warm and the intricate ceiling motifs were gorgeous. Our bedroom faced a small patio area with seating and provided a noise buffer from the street and piazza. The windows had heavy plantation style shutters which very effectively blocked out daylight for those who want to sleep later. They were also very attractive. The main living space-common area was a wonderful place to mix with other travelers. We enjoyed our time there with other guests. It had a fireplace, 2 large leather couches and several arm chairs. The dining area was cheery with 2 long tables and an aqueduct. Davide checked to see what time we wanted breakfast and ensured that coffee, espresso or cappuccino would be ready. As previous reviewers stated, there were prepackaged pastries, but there was a nice fresh cake available each morning as well in addition to meats, waffle type cookies (and nutella--yummy) as well as an assortment of yogurts and juices. My main disappointment in the food area was the presence of prepackaged cheese slices. When in Italy, I expect to have some great cheese, but what a minor complaint compared to the perfection that is Sei Stelle. Davide was wonderful in directing us to great restaurants and alerting us to a local festival. We had a flat tire on a Sunday and had to swap out a rental car. Davide made the calls for us, so that I did not have to rely on my limited Italian. If you have not done the Italian B&B experience before, you should know that the building is not staffed overnight. Many Americans might be surprised by this. Davide did ensure that we were fine before he left. Also, in Italy keep in mind that most floors are marble. They are beautiful, but can be cold on bare feet and they do transmit noise. We are looking forward to another stay and would not consider going anywhere else.
