We enjoyed a three week stay in the middle of winter with snow, exploring Umbria and enjoying the fantastic hospitality of Francesco, Claudia, Aziz and Eva, with the dogs daily visitors to our villa.
We learned a lot about Italy and it's gregarious and hospitable people and the history of the area.
We enjoyed cooking in the farmhouse style kitchen, spending long evenings in front of a roaring fire.
We would really like to thank our fantastic hosts for one of the best holidays we've had.

We have recently returned from a two week break at Casa De La Roccia at Pianciano and I have to sincerely say that this was one of the best holidays that we have ever had
( and we have had a few in our time!). We were slightly apprehensive about what our 18 year old daughter and her boyfriend would make of being in a peaceful setting in the beautiful Umbrian countryside versus sand, sea, watersports and clubs, but they absolutely loved it !
The house itself was beautiful and very well equipped, the terrace was lovely, shaded by beautiful vines. The views from every angle at Pianciano are breathtaking and an enduring memory, I will always remember lounging by the lovely pool staring lazily accross the valley at the family Palazzo thinking " It really doesn't get any better than this".

There are three fairly local restaurants that are all good and remarkably reasonable, we spent less than expected whilst in Umbria which I was quite suprised about. There is an abundance of fresh local produce i.e. pasta truffles etc available from nearby shops, a supermarket 5km away, fresh eggs and vegetables available on a 'help yourself' basis from Pianciano, so it was great to cook a few meals ourselves and eat on the wonderful terrace. There is also a large communal room with a table tennis table which was great and we had lots of tournaments, suprisingly, despite there being two other families in the other two properties, we never really seemed to cross paths and it was even rare that we were all at the swimming pool at the same time.

The hosts Francesco and Claudia and their caretakers Eva and Aziz were all charming and very helpful and friendly, even their pets were lovely !.

I would not hesitate in recommending this place and intend to return for another chill out next year.

We spent a week in Casa dell Arco at Pianciano and found it just as great as all the previous reviews state. We were greeted by Francesco with a bottle of wine and pasta already prepared for our dinner that night. The villa is 600 years old, and has all the rustic charm that you hope for, but also has the modern comforts that you appreciate, such as a dishwasher, washing machine, shower, nearby WI-FI, etc. It was a very spacious villa, with lots of room to lounge both in and out.

The views of the valley are beautiful, olive groves everywhere, and the family's main villa across the road. We enjoyed the new pool that was just built for the guests - as well as the ping pong table, relaxing in the hammock, and frequent visits from the friendly dogs Luna and Saeta.

Francesco and Claudia when there, were very friendly and helpful, and when not there Aziz and Eva are available to help. I highly recommend Pizza Night with Aziz - the best pizza we had during our trip - and we had a lot!

We easily visited all the nearby towns: Spoleto, Spello, Montefalco (winery tour at Paolo Bea) Bevagna, Deruta (ceramics shopping), Assisi and Norcia. The restaurant near Pianciano (Da Sandro) was an excellent value, great service and really good simple food.

I would highly recommend Pianciano if you are looking for a quiet, countryside villa, with gorgeous views and easy access to all the nearby hilltowns. We would love to go back someday!

Unspoiled sceneries, tastefully restored houses, extremely kind and available hosts, Pianciano goes beyond all expectations. It offers peace, beauty and serenity. Many villages and towns around to relish authentic Italian art, style of life, great wines, organic products, untouched outdoors and pleasant walks amongst wild flowers. Yes, we shall return !

We had a brilliant time - the pool is great for children and the site itself very good for kids to play. We took advantage of both the homemade pizza's and the home cooked meal, My mother who is 83 and has poor walking and sight coped well with Il Cipresso. Cluadia and her team were very friendly and made every effort to make us feel at home. No hesitation in recommending Pianciano

Loved everything. So cosy accomodations, helpful and lovely hosts, loved to chat with them having a bottle of a wonderful local wine (Rosso di Montefalco). It is really a paradise. If you want to experience the atmosphere of the truly italian countryside, that is the place to go! Great base for daytrips around the beautiful Umbria. Also close to the traditional region of Marche. Cuoca Maria's splendid dinner is a must for lovers os regional food. Will definitely return!

Pianciano is simply magical. We stayed in the Casa Del Arco. It was wondrefully appointed and the views were spectacular. Care takers Aziz and Eva were so kind and helpful. Pizza nite is a must w/Aziz.
If you are looking for a countryside experience among 20 thousand olive trees look no further. All the "hilltop" towns are within a 20-30 min drive. Go off road and make it fun.
We will return as this time of year was perfect weather in early October.
Ciao!!!
