“Great museum”
Reviewed July 12, 2012

The view from La Rocca is one of the most impressive views from the top of any Italian hill town. One can see for long distances. The building itself, once home to Lucrezia Borgia, contains a large number of Romanesque sculptures, and one room is filled with frescoes depicting the themes of 'courtly love.'

A little pricey for the entrance with very little detail on the background of this building.

“Imposing castle in a spectacular location”
Reviewed May 18, 2012

The castle looks more spectacular from the outside than from within, although the courtyard is impressive. The castle houses an excellent art museum with classical sculptures and mediaeval sculpture and painting. The castle is high on a hill and difficult to reach by car, but the town operates escalators and lifts/elevators which make it much easier to get to.

“Interesting and imposing”
Reviewed May 15, 2012

We visited this huge fortress on a very bleak day. I would recommend choosing a warmer day if you are able. The stucture itself and the artifacts it contains are definitely worth seeing and feeling the history of the place, as well as the magnificent views it affords.
