My "single" room was spacious, had a queen sized bed, platformed sitting area and was on the lower level of the hotel but still quite high up. Great views from the large window. A lift services all levels. The restaurant dining room was attractive and the buffet breakfast was of a reasonable standard. I didn't try the restaurant for other meals as there were many interesting, well-priced eating places a short walk away.

I have stay 2 more times at the wonderful 4 star, Hotel dei Duchi this year, once in March and then end of July through early August. They have made some upgrades to the dining and lobby areas. My group of 42 people had a wonderful 12 day stay, from the professionalism of the staff, reception area, waiters, to the maids. The owner must hand pick the right people to work there because all staff members are outstanding. Whatever minor issues we had or requests we made the hotel made sure that we were happy and comfortable. The hotel's location can not be better, just a block away from Piazza Liberta' in the charming historic center of town. As the organizer of my music program I was able to focus on what I was there for and could trust this amazing hotel to take care of any of my participants' needs or requests. My only criticism would be the internet connection was on the slow side and could use a faster connection, but, other than that, this continues to be my hotel of choice for Spoleto!

Room Tip: While rooms that face the beautiful garden also have a view of the Roman Theatre, rooms on the other...

A surprisingly well appointed hotel at the heart of Old Spoleto that backs up to Piazza della Liberta. We reserved a deluxe king room, but were pleasantly surprised to be given Rooms 201 & 202 which together made a 2 room Bedroom/Living Room suite. Nice flat screen TV's in both rooms. The Living Room had a small balcony that overlooked the dining terrace. Huge bathrooms--one with 2 sinks & a full size tub/shower. The other with a large sink, toilet, & bidet. Free WiFi and free parking are a nice plus. While our hotel from last year, the Gattapone, commanded a far superior view of the Aqueduct, I would prefer the Dei Duchi for its far nicer accommodations & food service.

Room Tip: Ask for the 201/202 combination

I stayed at the Hotel Dei Duchi for three days around Easter. There was parking in front of the hotel, which is perched on the edge of town, above some playing fields on one side, and the Roman theater on the other. The site is spectacular, and the first floor of the hotel is mostly glass, enhancing the views from the dining room. I find it difficult to walk long distances any more. The hotel is close to the duomo and the museum, and not at all difficult to get up to La Rocca, at the top of the town. Spoleto has a charming monumental cemetery, like a little piece of Rome, Genoa or Milan's with a fantastic Romanesque church overlooking it. My room was wonderful, the breakfasts were great. Town wasn't crowded while I was there. I'd like to go back again.

I have stayed here twice in the past year; once on the way to Rome from my home in LeMarche and once on the way back to Le Marche. The hotel is absolutely spotless. The staff at the desk are incredibly accommodating and friendly. Seeing how exhausted we were from our 8 hour flight and the 2 hour drive from Fiiumicino and they arranged to have our room prepared in advance of the usual check -in time while we waited in the oh so comfortable lobby - replete with lots of overstuffed sofas - and looked out at the lovely views of Spoleto. The room - a triple - had a lovely balcony and, again, was spotlessly clean as was the bathroom, which had an excellent shower. The beds were firm except for the the third bed - a cot - which was not as comfortable. The breakfast was one of the best I've seen in an Italian hotel: many kinds of croissants, meats, cheeses, hard boiled eggs, jams etc - really great! The hotel is super easy to find coming off the main road. There is a parking lot - a rarity in Italy and the main Piazza/ centro is a two minute walk. In short there was nothing arduous or frustrating about this hotel experience. Will stay here every year on our way to and from LeMarche. Thank you Dei Duchi!!

Room Tip: Stayed inn room 109 - they made it into a triple for us. With the third bed It was a little tight bu...

A very well managed in an ideal location in Spoleto. All staff are helpful and particular thanks go to Nadine in the restaurant who was most helpful at all times. Modern style hotel with high standard of rooms and very good meals at buffet breakfast and dinner. Terrace is excellent in the evening for relaxing meals. Despite close proximity to one of Spoleto's main piazzas, it is a quiet hotel. We stayed at three hotels on this trip to Italy and the Dei Duchi was by far and away the best one in all respects. We recommend it and will stay again when next in the area, without hesitation. (We did not locate hotel easily on arrival. Best advice is to enter Spoleto via the Southern access road off the SS3 and follow the road round a right hand bend, continue straight on to Spoleto centre, ignoring the "vehicles banned sign". Hotel is on the left approaching the centre, just before the yellow PTT post office sign on the left. Initially parking may look to be a problem. Ask at Reception for a car park permit for the public car park. Go back down the hill to the first roundabout and go right, turning left almost immediately down the access ramp to the underground car park. Use the permit and take back from the machine for exit later. Use the lifts and the travelators to the exit lift. Exit from the car park complex is immediately opposite the hotel. Much easier than trying to park in the hotel car park!!)

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the garden adjacent to the Roman amphitheatre are quiet. Suggest go for a junior s...

We stayed at the Hotel Dei Duchi a few years ago and they service and the hotel again did not disappoint us. The location is excellent and the staff helpful. As other reviews have stated it is a home away from home
