Just had the immense pleasure and privilege of visiting Novecento 'Casual Restaurant, coffee shop and wine bar'. It is situated on the via Porta Fuga in Spoleto, Italy. The décor is eclectically charming, the atmosphere - fun, calm and enjoyable. The description by the owner as a 'Casual restaurant' seems inadequate, I can only say that there was nothing casual about the food, Cooked by 'Mum' , who is now training other son to carry on the family tradition we hope they go from strength to strength.
Unsure what to choose from the varied menu we decided on a special '900' platter which we had seen being eaten on the night previously whilst just dropping in for a vino or two! It looked pretty good. Advised by the owner/host to just order the platter first before deciding on our second course - it was a wise decision as it was quite filling but also very delicious. We 'forced' our selves to have a second course this did not disappoint either, we did not have a desert although I suspect they would have been equally enjoyable. The host and his attractive waitress were very helpful, attentive but not overly so, leaving us to enjoy the food and wine - the house wines were truly good but the recommendation made by the host made our last evening meal there very special.
Novecento has only been open for a couple of years but both I and my husband agree that it won't be long before another one is up and running, hopefully so, because everything works well, the owner and his family deserves much praise for their obvious hard work in the running of the place. On the 3 nights we visited people were unable to get a seat as all tables were taken or reserved, so we would recommend booking. 900 is not a huge place but oh so very delightful, we wish it was just around the corner from where we live in England as we would be eating out every day!!!! Our many thanks to the owner for making our stay in Spoleto and our evening meals such a great experience. Good luck to them in any future projects they may decide to take on.
Spoleto was my first visit to Italy and I was not disappointed.
