“Good Location and Friendly Staff”
Reviewed February 13, 2012

We stayed here a couple of years ago after booking through Neilson - this year we did it independantly as we wanted two seperate rooms (one double, one single), a longer stay (8 nights) and better flight times. Booking could not have been easier. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is very good. Apart from a good choice for all the courses, there is a very nice fresh fruit salad every evening on the desert bar.

The wine list is fantastic with lots of choice, the disappointment being that you can't get it back in the UK.

The rooms vary in size, depending on whether you go for superior or standard. The Standard wasn't very big but the other room was larger and both had views over the mountains. As previously mentioned the beds are 'firm' and the pillows are bricks - ask for extras as well. The cleaners are around early in the morning, usually about 8am so don't want to have a lie-in! but the rooms are kept very clean. Decor is ready for repair but that doesn't affect the overall quality of the hotel.

You are close to the ski lockers (which are free if you stay at the hotel) and there is a boot room in the basement. As part of our booking, the reception organised our lift passes and these were waiting for us on our first day of skiing. They also have a 10% discount scheme on ski rental with the shop across the road.

If you are driving, there is a locked underground car park but there is a charge for this. However it does mean that you don't have to clean the snow off the car when you come to go home.

We choosed this hotel, after reading reviews on TripAdvisor. We werent dissapointed at all, it is right across the road from he slopes, the stuff is amazing - they want to help you in anyway and anytime. There are free biscuits and tea between 4-6.30 p.m. They have also tastefull dinners, like other already said. Your skis are stored right across the street, so you dont have to carry them anywhere. This hotel has many positive things, but one major negative (for all of us, travelling together) VERY BAD sleeping quality - very hot with heating on, very cold with heating off, very dry air, bad matrace and pillow....so that is only big minus of this hotel...rooms are quite small, but big enough to place all your things. The photos of the hotel on the internet are showing real picture, not like some of them, which looks great on photo, but not in reality. The cleaning ladies are around all the time, sometimes they came a little bit early. All in one - we would highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Sestriere.

Room Tip: Take a look on the slopes, great in the morning sun.

Stayed at this wonderful hotel between 29th January and 5th February 2012. The facilities were great, the location brilliant for skiing and the food outstanding. The day begun with a buffet breakfast. Even had its own egg boiler with individual basket for timing your own egg! Followed by a selection of cereals, fruits, breads, cheeses, croissants etc.

Returning from the slopes you were greeted by more homemade biscuits, cakes, tea, coffee or hot chocolate.

From 7pm you indulge yourself with a four course evening meal. Again a buffet anti-pasti which you have to ensure you don't eat too much of, to leave room for a pasta course with a selection of five dishes including veggie option, next the meat/ fish dishes and then the fabulous buffet desserts. There is even an ice cream freezer with the trays like you get in the shops to help yourself to endless scoops of ice cream. now if you are an ice cream lover like me then you are in paradise.

To move on from food. The hotel is located in Sestriere village so ideal for the shops! The Kovo bar is a must as it sells doubles for €3 including the famous Sambuca which is a must. They even give you a bowl of crisps and nuts for free.

All in all a fab location and we will return to this hotel next year. Oh nearly forgot, the bar staff are a delight.

Room Tip: Make sure you order extra pillows as the beds are very frim

We (my husband, my 15yr old daughter and myself) stayed at The Cristallo Hotel for New year week (27th Dec2011 - 3rd Jan 2012) and had a wonderful time there.
We hired our own car and drove from Turin airport to Sestriere, pretty straight forward after a minor hiccup when the Tom Tom couldn't find the roads in Turin itself, but after that straight on the motorway and then up in the mountains to Sestriere. Took us 1hr 30 mins but on our return easily one hour. Even though we drove, unless you are planning on driving out to different places sight-seeing, we would recommend using the hotels private transfer service from the airport which is 300 Euros return, whereas our car hire cost £350.00 and if we had known we would have taken the private transfer, much more relaxing, especially if it has been snowing.
The hotel is in a great location, directly opposite the main ski slopes, chair lifts, drag lifts and ski school. Our room (112) overlooked the slopes so a great view. Hotel staff are wonderful, from the welcome at reception from Michaela and the other ladies to the cleaning staff. All very friendly, all spoke very good English, helpful and very good at their jobs. Waiters/waitress and Maitre'D (Pino) in restaurant were particularly good and the food was terrific, four courses each night with a choice of starter and main, all served at your table with just buffet Hors d'oeuvres and buffet desserts. Breakfast was a buffet choice of Continental and Hot Cooked food - a first in a European Ski resort, with tea/coffee brought to your table.
The bar area was large and barman was very good and courteous, always bringing your drinks to your table. In the afternoon between 4.30-6pm they would serve Tea and a selection of cakes in the bar - free for guests, which was lovely when you had been skiing all day. Eating times were great too - breakfast from 7-10am and dinner from 7pm - 10.30pm.
Our room was large enough and had everything we needed for the three of us, shower was powerful and hot, there was a small fridge/mini bar, TV with a few English channels, mainly news and sport, the rest were Italian. Beds were firm but very comfortable and there was plenty of closet and drawer space for our three clothes. Each evening the maids would turn your beds down and put a chocolate on the pillows and bath robes and slippers were provided in your room.
The hotel has a small spa with jacuzzi, massage and whirlpool, but we did not use any of these services.
Internet is available at the hotel for a small charge of 4 Euros per 2hrs, wifi in the reception areas and if you are lucky in the first floor bedrooms, otherwise they provide a wire to plug in.
Parking - hotel provides it's own secure covered underground parking at a charge, but there is plenty of free parking outside across the road in the square.
New Years Eve was a great night, as was New Years Day Evening, for New Year's Eve, the hotel provided a gala dinner of 8 courses with drinks in the bar to start and champagne at midnight, before going outside to see the fireworks on the slopes and the locals setting their own fireworks off around you, then back inside for the disco, which carried n into the early hours, we left at 2.30am and it was still going strong. On New Years Day evening, the ski school instructors provide a show on the floodlit Olympic Run, coming down in sequences and then afterwards there was a candle lit procession down three of the adjacent slopes in the colours of the Italian flag, once slope white candles, one red and the final one green - it was beautiful, all set to music.
So to cap it all, we had a wonderful week and would fully recommend this hotel and hope to go back again.

Room Tip: Pay for the view, it is definately worth it. Rooms can get quite hot, just turn off the heating and...

We spent a week in Sestriere skiing and were fortunate to be staying at the Cristallo. This hotel is first class. The staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The food was superb. Four courses and a salad bar every evening. The facilities were good and it was nice to use the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room after a day's skiing. The Cristallo has it's own boot room and also an arrangement with the ski store over the road for free ski storage. Wifi connection is available for a small fee and works in the bar/reception area. For skiing the location was fantastic, the lifts were just across the road.

I just returned from a week long ski trip to Sestriere where I stayed at the Hotel Cristallo.

The hotel is in an excellent location. It is directly across from lifts that allow you to access the entire Milky Way ski area. Centrally located, you have easy access to bars, shops, restaurants, and grocery stores. Even though my room faced the main street, the room was very quiet with little noise coming from the street and none from adjacent rooms.

It should be noted that the hotel itself takes up only the basement (boot room, small gym, sauna, hot tube, and steam room), the first floor (bar, restaurant, and front desk), and the two floors above with guest rooms. The upper floors (with balconies) are privately owned condos and have a separate entrance.

I found the staff to be very good. They were professional and helpful in every way. The food at both breakfast and dinner was plentiful and of high quality. There were numerous choices for every course. No one left hungry. The bar area was large and comfortable. Drink prices were reasonable and the service excellent. The hotel served tea in the afternoon. There is a boot room in the lower level and skis can be secured in a room adjacent to the slopes right across the street making skiing very convenient.

It has been noted here that the beds and pillows were harder than we usually expect but it didn’t seem to effect my sleep.

All in all, this was a fine facility in a great location. Anyone wishing to ski the “Vialattea” should strongly consider staying here.

I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Cristallo.
The service was fantastic and really friendly. We arrived very late and very tired and the warm welcome was really appreciated.
The room was big, the bed comfortable and the shower lovely and hot after a cold day outside working (I was on a business trip!)
I especially liked the food but I ate far too much. Plus the waiter's wine recommendation was spot on - I'm now searching to find the same wine in the UK - it was delicious!
