“Enjoyable getaway oasis”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2013

Spent the weekend at Millcroft and enjoyed a relaxing time with wonderful meals! All the staff was very attentive and exceeded my expectations for service. Definetly worth going to get some relaxation and pampering.

Room Tip: The rooms at the manor were spacious and comfortable.

It's located in a great part of the country-side. The spa is great, indoor pool, steam room, great locker room. The waiting room and treatment rooms are also relaxing. Definately worth the drive for a couple hours of relaxation. Next time will definately have an overnight stay.

What a great location! My wife and I loved the "feel" of the buildings and surroundings. We spent hours in the woods and on and off of the trails.
Our room was in what was referred to as the Main Mill and our only complaint was the tiny tv. Granted, we didn't drive over an hour out of the city to watch television so this wasn't an issue. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable.
The staff was courteous and professional yet had a country appeal that you don't find in the city where customer service seems to be something the employees are forced to do. This was not the case at the Millcroft where everyone we encountered were more than happy to help or say hello as they passed.
Our only disappointment was with the dining. The service was top notch and our server, Mike, is a true professional. Where value is concerned however, neither my wife nor myself were blown away with our dinner nor the breakfast buffet. The dinner menu read well on the card but landed flat on our palettes and nothing stood out as being any more than a 6 on 10.
The breakfast buffet offered eggs Benedict, a personal morning favourite, but were drowned in hollandaise sauce and the "house baked pastries" I'm sure were baked in-house but tasted like they were made in a mass quantity factory and shipped frozen.
All in all, we had a great experience in the spa and will return when the trails are covered in snow. We will book a "croft" room to make use of the fireplaces to cozy up next to.
Thank you to everyone!

Went there for an overnight business meeting at the end of Nov.
FOOD
Breakfast sucked. We had it delivered to our meeting and it was mediocre at best. They did not bring enough plates and cutlery and I had to use the same greasy plate I ate bacon off of for dessert. Nothing like underripe melon drenched in bacon fat. The next morning bacon at the buffet sucked as well. The food tasted like it was sitting there for hours. Our lunch contained burnt lasagne and at dinner Kyle steak was cooked wrong. Chef my butt.
Meeting room
Small and cramped.
Rooms
Awful. Beds need updating (very lumpy) and the rooms lookalike they are from pioneer village. There is literally nothing to do at the hotel bit walk putside. That is the high point. Gorguese scenery.
All in all, especially considering the cost I'd say not worth it at all.

My sister and I recently enjoyed our 3rd annual getaway at the Millcroft Inn. We value the quiet, rustic and relaxed atmosphere as we share our stories and 'get caught up'. The grounds are lovely and we always have our 'explore and chat' time. Listening to the sound of the waterfall from our outdoor hot tub, then retreating inside to the roaring fireplace has got to be one of life's treasured memories. The croft is very well-appointed and the heated floors in the bathroom are luxurious..
Special thanks to Adrienne at the Front Desk. She was warm, welcoming and really seemed to understand how special this time away was to my sister and I. In a busy world, it's so nice to have Genuine Hospitality. We would definitely recommend this property and look forward to returning next Fall.

The best feature of the Millcroft Inn is its idyllic setting in a quiet secluded woodland with its millpond, waterfall and the rushing waters of the mill stream. The main floor, bar, and restaurant are beautifully designed with a relaxing country inn ambience that is hard to find anywhere else in Ontario. Rooms in the main inn building are comfortable, some with views over the mill stream. The beds are very comfortable but the rooms are furnished and decorated in a rather spartan style, with flat screen televisions so small it would be better that they are removed altogether. Other reviews suggest that the croft rooms are superior and I would book one of these if I paid a return visit. Dinner in the Millcroft restaurant is highly recommended and the artist studios in the nearby village of Alton are delightful.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main inn are more economical but rather small and plain.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Millcroft Inn. We arrived weary and left feeling rejuvenated. While the weather outside was frightful, our time at the Inn was delightful. We were greeted warmly and made to feel very welcome. Our room (top floor of the Mill) was lovely and cozy. We can't say enough about the meals in the dining room. If you make a dinner reservation, ask to sit in "the Pod". Adjacent to the dining room, this is a small area with room for 5 or 6 tables, entirely surrounded by glass and has a beautiful view of the falls. We arrived on Saturday and stayed until Monday. That was perfect... made us feel like we were playing hooky as we lingered over our morning coffee (in the Pod) and knew that others were hurrying off to work somewhere. Can't wait to return!

Room Tip: We have stayed in the Crofts, Manor House and now the actual Mill. Each has its own charm but we ha...
