“Pulled pork pie & pickled cabbage salad - fantastic!”

First time trying Rays 3rd Generation wares was at Alton Mills Cuisine Arts festival. Rays pulled pork pie and pickled cabbage salad was fantastic! Stood out well above many other offerings at the food festival.

“Great Food but the service is hit & miss”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2014

Was at my favourite place for dinner recently and while the food remains outstanding, the service from the same server I have had before is terrible. As one reviewer stated - she needs to take up another profession. We were a group of 6 with two young kids (not ours), 7-9, who were well behaved and knew what they wanted from the menu, however when it came time to order, it was like the kids were putting her out. The one ordered a steak and while she was passing our table taking their order, not really stopping, she left without asking the parents or the child how the steak should be cooked. Seemed disinterested.
Same server a few weeks earlier for lunch and the service from her again, was sporadic and uneven - no flow to it at all and lots of waiting. I have been served by others here and this is not the same experience.
Its the service industry and she needs to smile, be genuine, be engaged or call in sick.....

“Fabulous lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2014

Had an excellent sandwich at Rays. It was a turkey, bacon on a cheese bun. The bread was very, very fresh and was a very filling lunch. Great value, pleasant place to eat, most enjoyable.

“A jewel in a small town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2014

Years ago I worked in a high end restaurant learning to cook and at that time i learned to appreciate great food and service. Additionally, I have traveled the world for work and leisure and yet lately the best meals I have had for this price point are at Rays 3rd Generation. The menus is blackboard style with lots of choice and creativity. The fact that even a Wednesday or Thursday night may require reservations speaks volumes about how much the food is loved here.
The service is good, not great but its the style and the atmosphere so you slow down your pace, relax and enjoy the experience.
We have been up the road recently as well for meals at a local establishment and the cost versus the food does not come close.
Keep up the good work Jason and Shawn!

“Variety is the spice of this Bistro”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2014

I really enjoy going to the bistro , the prices are reasonable and the food is great!
There is live music on the weekends ( Thursday-Saturday) guitar playing...
It can get busy so make a reservation to be on the safe side...
The staff is great and remember weekends and lunches are busy now that the nice weather is here!
Enjoy ( I have been to Ray's many times and give gift certificates to my family and friends for birthdays and Christmas) ... I like it that much :)
