“Unforgettable winter-holiday”
Reviewed February 25, 2014

In January I stayed in this marvelous hotel. Everything, the nature outdoor, the atmosphere indoor, was wonderful. With the first step when I came in and saw the fire in the fireplace I felt at home. The owners, family Welponer, were very friendly and helpful, at your disposal for everything, every question.
Our room, the Family Suite, was very comfortable and spacious, with a huge balcony, well-equipped and very clean. The food was... what can I say... more than delicious, either local or international specialties. The staff friendly and professional...
I am looking forward to the next summer, when I want to come here once again. And I would like to stay in the Romantic Chalet, small wooden house, nearby the main building, that is so beautiful.

This Hotel I would like to mark with great "5". Cosy family hotel, excellent SPA-zone. All new and ideal. Very considerate personnel. Tasty cuisine - especially breakfast and dinner. Sympathetic family atmosphere. My recommendation.

Very well run family hotel, exceptionally neat, with friendly and courteous service (special thanks to Nadya!). We loved the food, with one exception: our group tends to come to dinner late and we inevitably felt rushed at dinner. I guess, chef needed to go home... So, though the hotel denomination is "wellness and relax"- it doesn't let you "relax" at dinner. I wish it was not "half board", but that seems to be the case with most hotels in Val Gardena. Never the less- we had a great time!

For skiers it is a dreamplace. Val Gardena is for me the best location in Dolomites, so having a really good accomodation there means having all you need for great ski holidays .in the hotel almost everything is fantastic. Food is amazing and there is plenty of it. Rooms are spacy and clean. Hotel owner drives you to the ski lifts every morning. Wide choice of drinks in the bar makes the picture complete. Service is very friendly, nice and good looking. Why then not 5 stars? Simply because of welness/ pool area. It is old and needs an urgent upgrade. Steam sauna is for me useless, as pools of water on the seats can not be removed and sitting in it is rather unpleasant. The whole pool and saunas area is far to small for the size of the hotel. I couldn't find a free bed in the afternoon.

My wife and I stayed six nights in this hotel. The location is excellent: close to, but off the main valley road (quiet nights) and at a 10 to 15 minutes walking distance from the village center (next to the hotel lies a separate road, exclusively open for pedestrians and cyclists - skiers in the winter).

We had the junior suite, which is a huge, excellent room with large balcony looking out on the valley and the mountains). The bathroom is large and well equiped. Plenty of towels (changed twice a day), bathrope and slippers.

The hotel has a lovely garden, inviting for sunbathing and relaxing. The hotel just looks gorgeous with its balconies, overwhelmed by superb flowers (carefully looked after by the hotel owner). The wellness center is fantastic with its indoor swimming pool and adjacent wellness area (sauna, hammam). It all looks perfect, recently built with materials of the highest quality. Your car can be parked outdoors or in the garage (payable).

It's all just excellent, but one thing is even better than excellent: the food is absolutely gorgeous! We have selected the half-board formula in quite some hotels, but we've never had quality, variety and quantity we had at Welponer! Absolutely fabulous. The waitress who served us (Nadia) was extremely friendly and helpful.

I have only two remarks:
- the wifi signal (payable) was just horrible in our part of the hotel. My laptop was just able to catch the signal, but the Apple devices needed to be used in the hotel's bar. A couple of signal-amplifiers would be very helpful.
- the jacuzzi in the bathroom was out of order. Only the handshower was working. When we reported at the reception that we were not able to use the bath, nor jacuzzi or normal shower device, we just got a reaction from the family's son that it was broken. Period. I would have expected a more client-oriented reaction here or at least an explanantion why it couldn't be fixed in a short time period.

Anyhow, we had an excellent time at Hotel Welponer and will not hesitate to return to this hotel is we get back to the Dolomites region.

Many Thanks to the family Welponer and all thier staff.
We seemed to be treated by all as guests in the family home.
The food was excelent, and accompanied by some great south tyrolean wines that you just cant find in the UK.
The Hotel is well presented and looked after, and is very comfortable in both the rooms and public area's. Absolutely spotless at all times.
I really cant think of a bad thing to say about the place.
Looking forward to going back!
