“Beautiful location, small hotel with exceptional service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2014

Small family run hotel offering 5 class service. Warm & friendly welcome, fantastic & varied food, with afternoon tea & cake too, which was delicious & much appreciated after our long walks. Nothing was too much trouble & owners / staff were genuinely interested in all guests & happy to share tips on local walks, etc. Room was lovely, with balcony having a great view of the mountains & bathroom looked new, everything was spotlessly clean. As our transfer to airport on day of departure was early we were given a packed lunch to take on the long coach trip back to Verona & they even served breakfast early so departing guests could have a proper breakfast if they wanted to.

We were made to feel like family guests rather than strangers visiting for the first time. I was so impressed I have sent a personal thank you card (something I have never done before) & we will definitely return for a longer stay in the future.

Room Tip: If you are there for the numerous walks make sure you pay extra for a room with a bath to soak the a...

Congratulations to the Pitscheider Family for the great way they run Hotel Armin. Comfortable rooms, wonderful cuisine, gemütlich welcome and briefing to guests. We noticed that many guests were repeat customers , and can't wait for the day when we return. A wonderful hotel in a most lovely location in the Dolomites. It's worth noting that this hotel is in fact much better than others with a similar rating on Trip Adviser.

This was our first time at this wonderful hotel but most of the other British guests were regulars some coming back for 9 years. Food is excellent rooms spotless and wellness facilities as well.

When you are out drinking coffee or beer all establishments charge a similar tariff, Hotels and Huts alike so you wont be ripped off.

There is plenty to do if you like hiking and walking cycling or looking at nature but beware of bees nests in some shelters in the valleys and the scenery in the Dolomites is second to none.
The hotel gives a free mobil card (worth 28 euros) which give free use of buses for the week to Bolzano Brixen Ortisel and all the passes around the valley both Bolzano and Brixen/Bressanone are worth a trip if the weather is slightly inclement, if you want to see the ice man at Bolzano get there early (it opens at 10) queues build up around the block
The Gardena card costs 79 euros and gives access to 12 mountain lifts you will get your moneys worth.
The hotel is also a member of Gardena active where events can be booked at the information centre (some free) information centre gives details and can be booked the day before.

Talking to others staying in the resort we didn't hear any complaints in fact many people at other hotels stayed at those regularly

Deposits from bottles refunded at the deli counter in Despar

Finally a big thanks to Jon at Thompsons

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter

Selva is a great resort for walking in the mountains and the Hotel Armin is a wonderful base for walking. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to assist you at every turn.

The dinners are a spectacular event. Despite there being several choices for each course, should you decide on skipping a course, you will be presented with more choices. Any combination of anything is not too much trouble for the staff.

Luckily, we discovered that tea and cake is served in the bar from 16:30-18:00, this filled a gap left after a day in the mountains, but you should restrain yourself a bit for dinner…

Bed rooms were newly fixed up an gave us everything we wanted, the street could be a bit noisy with traffic in the morning, but you should be getting up early to get out on the mountains…

The Val Gardena card at €79 plus the bus pass provided by the hotel are essential items to help you get round the place, frequent buses up and down the valley dropped us at chairlifts or funiculars which took us into the mountains where you could walk along the contours most of the time, well there were always a few 100m drops and climbs.

The hotel is centrally located on the main street, so handy for everything, buses can be full in the morning so it could be worthwhile to go uphill to the bus stop rather than down.

I would highly recommend the Hotel Armin and all the staff that work there and would love to return another time. I would certainly recommend it to anybody considering a trip to Selva.

I can honestly say this is one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in. We were there a couple of weeks ago and it was obvious that many of the guests were return visitors which speaks to the quality of the hotel and the warmth of the welcome.

Previous reviewers have already covered many of the main points so maybe just a few to highlight. We were lucky enough to get the double room just over the main entrance so had a lovely sunny balcony in the afternoons - comfortable, exceptionally clean, plenty of room to store ski stuff and nicely equipped bathroom with lovely large bath. The other member of our party had one of the single rooms at the back of the hotel and was delighted to find that it was not the converted 'broom cupboard' that passes for a single in many other hotels! Again comfortable, well fitted, and with a high quality power shower. He also commented on the good sound proofing as he was not aware of any noise from the adjacent lift.

The food was all excellent and the dining room staff friendly and efficient. Nothing is too much trouble and they were always happy to suggest an alternative to the menu choices if required. Don't miss the delicious cakes in the afternoon! Bar prices are also very reasonable e.g. glass of Prosecco for 3 Euros.

For skiers there is a large ski room with heated boot racks, and the hotel minibus runs each morning to drop you off at the lifts so no need to walk with ski gear. The spa area was hardly used the week we were there which I found hard to understand as it was the perfect place to relax and ease aching muscles after a day on the slopes with steam room, sauna, 'experience' shower, and comfy loungers.

The hotel is family run with a small team of dedicated staff. They all work extremely hard to ensure their guests are made to feel welcome and nothing appears too much trouble for them. The whole hotel is well maintained and as mentioned by others spotlessly clean.

Although we were there in winter I am sure this would be a delightful place to stay in the summer as well and I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to others.

Room Tip: Pick a room at the front if you want a sunny balcony although you may get a bit of traffic noise as...

We chose to stay at the Hotel Armin via Crystal Ski and based on previous reviews. The hotel is very well positioned for either ski or summer holidays as it is near the centre of town, close to the ski lifts and hiking trails.

The hotel offers pristine cleanliness and excellent service from staff. The breakfast is well presented and has plenty of selection for all appetites. The evening meals are five courses with a couple of options per course and the option to choose pasta or a grill if you do not like the selection. The hotel featured a Tyrolean special menu mid-week which had a great range of regional specialities. The wine selection is excellent with regional options and well-priced. Only a minor gripe but they do not serve tap water at dinner so you have to buy bottled however they will save this for the next night if you do not finish the bottle in one evening (as for the wine too). There is free cake in the afternoon with again regional specialities (strudel, sacher torte, etc).

The spa facilities are clean, peaceful and practical - the sauna and steam rooms are free/included but you have to pay a small supplement for the jacuzzi/whirlpool. The showers featured aromatherapy which was a nice touch.

The rooms are warm, well-sized and with balconies. They are cleaned promptly and very thoroughly each day with fresh towels given. Lots of storage space for kit and equipment.

For skiers, the hotel offers a morning half-hourly minibus service to the town's main gondola stations although it is just a 5 min walk to the nearest. It is also near a very good family-run ski hire shop (Olga's) and just a few minutes from the main apres ski bars near the end of the ski pistes. At the end of the day, skiers can take the ski path behind the hotel (from the Corvara side of the Sella Ronda only) to ski to within a couple of minutes of the hotel door - almost doorstep skiing!

The best thing about this hotel is the staff who offer the highest levels of traditional service, both at the reception desk and also for bar/restaurant services. There is something really special about this hotel - the management and staff take services extremely seriously with a personal touch which is far beyond many larger and more expensive establishments. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the road are noisier but offer better views of the mountains than those at the back of...

My wife and I stayed here the 22nd -29th march and can honestly say we have no complaints at all about this hotel, all the staff are friendly and helpful and this hotel is one of the cleanest we have been to, the rooms are warm and of a decent size with plenty of storage and have the use of a free safe and there are also hooks for your ski jackets i also think all the rooms have a balcony where you can store any drinks you have as there is no mini fridge. The beds are comfortable and the showers have plenty of hot water. The hotel has a sauna and provide you with towels and bathrobes but we did'nt use it so can't comment on it.The breakfast is self service and has all the usuall stuff such as cereal , cold meats, cheese, rolls, fruit ect. and it also has a hot option of either scrambled or hard boiled egg , there is also fruit juice ,tea and coffee . The dinners at night are table service and consist of 5 coarses with a couple of menu choices and if you don't like any of them the hotel will try and find you something else which is great .Selva is basicly one long road and the Armin is in the middle with the shops 5min one way and the main gondola and bars just over 5 min in the other direction and it runs a mini bus from 8.30 to 12.00 to take you to any local lift you want, you have to walk back at night but as i said it's only just over 5 min downhill .This hotel has everything you need and both my wife and I would not hesitate to book it again.
As for Selva ,it has 3 or 4 good bars all close together and are some of the cheapest we have known for a ski resort as average price for beer is 4.50 euro and a glass of wine is 1.50 euro and some of them have music as well and are great to finish off your day.
The sela ronda area is massive and has fantastic skiing for all levels and you can go somewhere different each day or do the circuit instead.I also suggest that you do the lost valley,it takes about 4 hrs to ski there and back and allows you about 2 hrs skiing when your there and at the bottom of it you have a choice to be towed by horses back to the way home for 2 euros which is well worth it
and is a lot of fun. This was our first time to the sela ronda as we usually go to austria but we will definitely be coming back .
