“Wonderful stay with fantastic service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2014

We chose to stay at the Hotel Armin via Crystal Ski and based on previous reviews. The hotel is very well positioned for either ski or summer holidays as it is near the centre of town, close to the ski lifts and hiking trails.

The hotel offers pristine cleanliness and excellent service from staff. The breakfast is well presented and has plenty of selection for all appetites. The evening meals are five courses with a couple of options per course and the option to choose pasta or a grill if you do not like the selection. The hotel featured a Tyrolean special menu mid-week which had a great range of regional specialities. The wine selection is excellent with regional options and well-priced. Only a minor gripe but they do not serve tap water at dinner so you have to buy bottled however they will save this for the next night if you do not finish the bottle in one evening (as for the wine too). There is free cake in the afternoon with again regional specialities (strudel, sacher torte, etc).

The spa facilities are clean, peaceful and practical - the sauna and steam rooms are free/included but you have to pay a small supplement for the jacuzzi/whirlpool. The showers featured aromatherapy which was a nice touch.

The rooms are warm, well-sized and with balconies. They are cleaned promptly and very thoroughly each day with fresh towels given. Lots of storage space for kit and equipment.

For skiers, the hotel offers a morning half-hourly minibus service to the town's main gondola stations although it is just a 5 min walk to the nearest. It is also near a very good family-run ski hire shop (Olga's) and just a few minutes from the main apres ski bars near the end of the ski pistes. At the end of the day, skiers can take the ski path behind the hotel (from the Corvara side of the Sella Ronda only) to ski to within a couple of minutes of the hotel door - almost doorstep skiing!

The best thing about this hotel is the staff who offer the highest levels of traditional service, both at the reception desk and also for bar/restaurant services. There is something really special about this hotel - the management and staff take services extremely seriously with a personal touch which is far beyond many larger and more expensive establishments. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the road are noisier but offer better views of the mountains than those at the back of...

My wife and I stayed here the 22nd -29th march and can honestly say we have no complaints at all about this hotel, all the staff are friendly and helpful and this hotel is one of the cleanest we have been to, the rooms are warm and of a decent size with plenty of storage and have the use of a free safe and there are also hooks for your ski jackets i also think all the rooms have a balcony where you can store any drinks you have as there is no mini fridge. The beds are comfortable and the showers have plenty of hot water. The hotel has a sauna and provide you with towels and bathrobes but we did'nt use it so can't comment on it.The breakfast is self service and has all the usuall stuff such as cereal , cold meats, cheese, rolls, fruit ect. and it also has a hot option of either scrambled or hard boiled egg , there is also fruit juice ,tea and coffee . The dinners at night are table service and consist of 5 coarses with a couple of menu choices and if you don't like any of them the hotel will try and find you something else which is great .Selva is basicly one long road and the Armin is in the middle with the shops 5min one way and the main gondola and bars just over 5 min in the other direction and it runs a mini bus from 8.30 to 12.00 to take you to any local lift you want, you have to walk back at night but as i said it's only just over 5 min downhill .This hotel has everything you need and both my wife and I would not hesitate to book it again.
As for Selva ,it has 3 or 4 good bars all close together and are some of the cheapest we have known for a ski resort as average price for beer is 4.50 euro and a glass of wine is 1.50 euro and some of them have music as well and are great to finish off your day.
The sela ronda area is massive and has fantastic skiing for all levels and you can go somewhere different each day or do the circuit instead.I also suggest that you do the lost valley,it takes about 4 hrs to ski there and back and allows you about 2 hrs skiing when your there and at the bottom of it you have a choice to be towed by horses back to the way home for 2 euros which is well worth it
and is a lot of fun. This was our first time to the sela ronda as we usually go to austria but we will definitely be coming back .

Located in the center of Wolkenstein this hotel offers at least three stars! The famous Sella Ronda can be started from here easily.

The family run hotel offers a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. It is very well maintained, the double and familiy rooms are well sized and very tidy. The food is just fantastic - breakfast with a large choice, the five-course dinner is always a wonderful supprise! The wine is decently priced and the waiter provides excellent advise on the right wine for the menue. The service team remained the same for many years - a good sign! The guests (we...;-)) love the very attentive and caring staff and the hotel management.

We will be back!

Thank you!!

Room Tip: Rooms to the backside may be slightly quieter when sleeping with an open window.

We have just returned from a wonderful one week stay at the Hotel Armin. This hotel definitely deserves more than 3 stars. The food, service, staff and location were all excellent. The hotel offered a free shuttle service on a half hourly basis to either the Ciampinoi or the Dantercepies ski lifts, and subject to snow conditions, you can ski back to within meters of the hotel (directions needed from the owners), A good choice of breakfast from cereals, cold meats and cheese, scrambled eggs and boiled eggs, fresh breads and croissants. The evening meal consisted of a 5 course menu, which was always fresh, hot and extremely well-presented, as well as being delicious. Our room was on the 1st floor at the front of the hotel and was spacious and clean - always plenty of hot water for baths and showers. The room was cleaned on a daily basis and towels replaced daily. We didn't use the wellness center, but again, it was spotlessly clean. I can thoroughly recommend staying at this hotel, and skiing either in the Selva area and also for skiing the Sella Ronda circuit.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 1st and 2nd floor have a bath. Rooms on 3rd floor don't

This was our second visit to the Hotel Armin in Italy and it has not failed to keep its excellent high standards!
The staff are friendly, helpful, obliging and most of all extremely professional at all times.
The hotel is immaculately both in the public areas and bedrooms, the food is fabulous......I cannot recommend this hotel enough!
Thank you to the Pitscheider family and your wonderful, hard-working staff!

Having skied all over Europe for 35 years, I last visited Selva 13 years ago. This family Hotel is excellent with friendliness the 'Key' followed closely by service, cleanliness and superb facilities. Not to be missed.

The most memorable thing about this hotel was the excellent food - we were given five course evening meal with choice of menu. A different menu each day and each was delicious. Then free tea and cake was provided each afternoon All delicious. The staff were ever so helpful always willing to give advice about walks. The hotel is located in a central position in Selva.. While it doesn't have a pool it does have a well fitted wellness centre in the basement. There is excellent walking in the mountains and indeed the lowlands. The gardena card gives access to all the cable cars and local transport throughout the valley and is well worth the money
