Fantastic scenery & skiing; is there anywhere better? It may not have the extreme skiing of other big resorts though the variety and distances that can be travelled are un-paralleled. Try the Hidden Valley, the GS slope in La Villa and a trip to the top of the Maramalada glacier - all on top of the great skiing in the Selva vicinity.

We have skied this area before but this year the snow conditions were the best we have experienced. Our Dolomiti Superpass kept track of our movements, and we averaged 20-34 km of skiing daily. The lifts are linked so ingenuously that you can easily ski a vast area, surprising yourself with how much terrain you can cover. You do have to learn the Italian way of pushing through the crowds at certain key lifts: it's push or be pushed!

Hundreds of kilometres of perfect skiing on perfectly prepared pistes. And stunning scenery around every corner.

We did the tour green and next day orange... Last one is better and more intensive but easy to do if you are average and above skier... beautiful. first time after 10 year I would reconsider to come back to this area.

Being an experienced skier, I have skied the best mountains in Europe. I chose to ski in the Italian Dolomites because of the Sella Ronda cirquit of pistes that I had read about. The obvious base for skiing around the Sella Massif was Selva di Val Gardena (or Wolkenstein in Groeden as the locals call it). A nice traditional Austrian village in Italy. Nothing too special. However, although skiing around the Sella cirquit was really amazing, what made my skiing trip was the discovery of a hidden treasure. The most amazing piste that I have ever skied. The "Hidden Valley" piste is a short taxi ride away from the village of Armentarola which is on the Sella Ronda cirquit. The taxi takes you to Passo Fanzargo in the Lagazuoi Pass and you take the (almost verical) teleferique to the top 1000 m higher. Then you ski down an easy red piste, through shear vertical cliffs, frozen waterfalls, frozen rivers, pine trees and mountain goats. The only thing you hear is the echo from the sounds you make. Half way dawn is the splendid Rifugio Scotoni with great barbequed meat and cold beer. At the bottom of the piste, another surprise awaits. An old carriage with two huge horses and two 100 m ropes with knots trailing behind it, is waiting to pull you some 1000 meters through the forest to the nearest ski lift. This is so much fun. You hold on to the rope and get pulled along with some 50 other skiers laughing and singing all the way. The best time I've had in many years.
