Stayed in the hotel for a week of 28.12-04.01.
The property is run by a lovely couple and children who spend all their time in the hotel making sure the guests are happy. The location is great with 2 minutes walk to either of the two lifts getting you to either direction around the Sella mountain group.
The property is very fresh inside out. The restaurant and lobby/bar area is very cosy and beautiful with live music played every now and then and complimentary tea with cookies served at 4 pm. A nice touch.
We stayed in a deluxe room which is one of the larger types but still not very big. Please mind that all the rooms have see-through glass doors in bathrooms. We did not mind but heard some guests tried to change their rooms.
The rooms are extremely clean plus there is a turn-down service which was a nice bonus in a 4* property. There is no minibar or any fridge. TV has got a few british Sky channels and a Russian channel as well. About half of the guest at that time were from Russia.
We have mixed feeling about the dinner sometimes the choice of the main course was very limited (meat only) or non-existent. The portions are not very large but the owner would always come over to you to check if you wanted another portion.
The wine list was mediocre. The wines listed had no vintages indicated and the choice was limited while the margin charged was a bit more than elsewhere in restaurants or hotels in the area. But the owner told us we can bring our own bottles for a E15 corkage fee which we used most of the stay.
There is no spa in the hotel - you cant get any treatment. The pool-sauna area is very nice albeit very small and the sauna gets full very often. We felt it was too hot in the relaxing area.
Another important thing - there is a sign warning that children should stay in the pool area and the sauna part is for adults only (some german and italian guests prefer to be naked there), but the sign is in English only which meant all the russian guests (and their kids) ignored it. It was very hard to relax in sauna really.
The ski room is very good with great racks for skis and snowboards but strangely the boot warmers had no fans so our boots were wet every morning.
Overall a very nice hotel in a good location if we forget about the price. In our case it was E600/night for two adults in a deluxe room (booking 4 months in advance directly with the hotel and trying to negotiate it). We feel that the price is just not justified at all (we think that we payed double what it should have been) and next time will stay elsewhere.

Room Tip: All rooms have see through glass bathroom walls and doors

We have been at Laurin hotel for four days before Christmas and had the best time ever. The decoration, food, hospitality, location, spa, coffee, everything was excellent. the special thing was the family who let you fill so welcome and pamper. They deserve every compliment I can think of.

This hotel has it all except one thing ( I will expand on it later):
+ almost over-attentive staff (owners, waiters, bar staff, ...)
+ perfect wellness area
+ modern, yet locally styled rooms (not that over-decorated Alpine style and not too much business style - just perfect)
+ spacious parking at the hotel
+ nicest storage room for skis I every saw
+ nice bar
+ very close to Sella Ronda
o you definitely pay the location very close to Sella Ronda
- kitchen is the only minus:
- breakfast with cold scrambled eggs (but made to order fried eggs), no 100% orange juice
o dinner served at table (which may be considered nice by some guests - we found it boring and it lead to cold food)
- food generally boring (compared to all hotels at a lower price range we stayed in in the last few years)
- we both could have cooked 80% of the food better than the cook and some of our lunches at the slope where better then at the hotel (try "the Knoedel tris" at Bamby Huette ... excellent!)
- no adoption of local cooking traditions
- sweets in a large variety but generally boring to tasteless
- wine recommendation by waiters made easy: they just pick the most expensive ones

Room Tip: Cannot tell about other rooms but our room had beds that were 1.80 m long only. Check if you are tall!

We found paradise at Hotel Laurin in Selva! Our 10 day stay there this summer exceeded our expectations, and was the highlight of our month in Italy. Everything is simply outstanding: the location, the decor, the breaksfast, the service, the facilities, and most of all the people. Astrid, Gregor, and Lauren are extremely attentive to their guests and create an outstanding holiday experience. They truly deliver on their value proposition of being a small and charming hotel.
