“Cozy”
Reviewed September 13, 2012 via mobile

We've stayed there for one week. The most impressive thing I found there was the quality of food. It is awesome, absolute awesome. The family that runs the hotel is extremely polite. The jacuzzi outside is just in front of Gruppo Sella so the view is really nice. We had a bus drive each morning from the ski room to the lift at your choice which was very convenient. On the way back there is a small ski path that leads close to the hotel, so you can ski almost to the hotel.

This is the second year we've have spent 2 weeks at this wonderful venue. Initially, we selected it for our fist stay by comapring it with other venues. Hotel Sporting offered not only an excellent venue but importantly for us, undercover car parking and its locality, providing excellent access to ski lifts. A shuttle will take you to the lifts and at the end of the day, you can ski within 20m of the hotel! No lengthy trips home when you are weary and tired.
The hote itself is exceptional. it is tastefully decorated, spacious, clean and not too large. Staff are friendly & courteous and eager to ensure you have a pleasant stay.
The wellness center is another experiance not to be missed. We made it a daily ritual to have our saunas and relaxing periods to pamper our weary bodies. Thereafter, off to dinner. Wholesome food is well presented with many choices and options; there is something for everyone.
Will we go there again?? Oh yes; hopefully it will be become an annnual feature on our calendar.

I stayed at the Hotel Sporting with my wife from the 27th of December 2011 to 7th of January 2012. The hotel seems to be running like a clock. It is pretty, clean, conveniently located for the ski in and provides a shuttle bus to go to the lift. Special note about the lovely owners couple - Tanya and Samuel - running the hotel. They went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. I was very surprised to see the reviews below, re. the attitude of the owners. Just the little details that count made us feel very warm and welcome - one day I got stuck in the gym in the neighboring Ortisei with taxis being unavailable, Samuel came in his car to pick me up. One of the owners, either Tanya or Samuel, seemed to always be at the front desk, ready to deal with one of our requests, be it a restaurant reservation, or booking of a chauffeured car. The hotel staff are very friendly and efficient as well. One negative moment - the salad and the breakfast bar seemed to me to be poorly stocked, both in the way of produce quality and variety. The food was average, but that's my feeling generally for the region.

Room Tip: room 18 where we stayed - nice views, large veranda.

My family was invited to go on a ski vacation with another family that made all the arrangements. So we did not pick the hotel and when I went to trip advisor and saw some of the poor reviews I was a bit worried. Having just returned I can say that I had a completely different experience then the negative reviews. The hotel is centrally located, clean, nicely decorated. My one criticism of the hotel would be that the heating system was not very controllable from the room. On several occasions our room became so warm at night that we needed to open a window.

The food was outstanding. Service was attentive and pleasant. The believe the owner/manager was a husband and wife who were pleasant and accommodating. This is very much a family run operation, this point was driven home when at one point the manager asked us a question about his daughters Italian homework.
There is a shuttle that helps the guests get to the slopes in the AM and a trail that allows you to ski directly back to the hotel in the afternoon.
The hotel is not cheap and probably is not right for someone on a tight budget (pay for water, pay for internet ect). But this is certainly not unique to this hotel.

The hotel is nice looks elegant and cozy at first glance but it turns to be a very uncomfortable place very soon. The real problem is the attitude of the owners. with their clients. They are very unfriendly and unhelpful. We were forced to buy mineral water during the all stay as they refused to serve tap water (which I believe is illegal). We prefer not to discuss it but we were very upset when after having ask to book a taxi to go to the airport 2 days in advance, having double checked if it had been done 1 day before leaving, we found out, after waiting for 20 min that the taxi had not been booked. The owner's only concern was to clarify that it was not their fault instead of searching for a solution. I had to ask them 3 times to call and check with the taxi company before we could finally get one. I will never go back to this hotel and I strongly advice everybody to avoid it. I only feel sorry for people working in the hotel, it should be very difficult to deal with the owners on a daily basis.

We stayed in this hotel and booked a Suite - on arrival the Suite was actually a family room and very basic - but the most expensive room in the house! On arrival at dinner there were lovely tables under the glass roof with views outside - unfortunately we were in a back room on a table for 6 people and only two of us perched on the end with a view of the wall. On requesting a table in the glass area we were told "NO" that is the table where you must sit for all meals for the week. The Manager was rude and un-cooperative. The waiters were very good but overheard us say that we would leave the hotel after two days (which had been paid as deposit) and go elsewhere and they relayed this to the Manager. After dinner we went for a walk and on arriving back at the hotel about 10pm were met by a raving Manager who told us to pack our bags and leave immediately and no money would be refunded!!! This was very distressing but we went to our room and started to pack wondering where on earth we were going to stay for the night. Next thing he was hammering on our door and arguing again. To cut a long story short we eventually were ALLOWED to stay. The staff told us he was under a lot of stress because his daughter was in the hospital with acute Gastro Enteritis and to add insult to injury I also caught the virus at the hotel and accumulated large medical bills. He told us that he had been ripped off in Australia so apparently as Australians we had to pay the price. I think this hotel should be on your list of horror stories for anyone that is not Italian or German.
