“Not a bad place if on a budget”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

I stayed here with my boyfriend from May 7-11. The location is alright, about a 15 minute walk from the San'Agnello train station, which is ok on a daily basis but long with luggage. It was also very long to Sorrento. It was advertised as a 15 minute walk, and it was in reality at least 25 minutes (I did the walk about 8 times so I know). The place itself is average, nothing super special. The rooms were nice enough, our bathroom was across the hall. But it was a private bathroom so we didn't care. The only thing is that the keys are really old so when you are going to the bathroom in the middle of the night, I felt I had to turn the key a million times which was very noisy for those trying to sleep around me. The breakfast was good. There was always some cereal, yogurt, toast, coffee cake, croissant and Nutella (or Nutkao is the Italian version). The only negative thing is that the hotel was lifeless. There was not many people to meet, and a very dull atmosphere. So if that's what you are looking for, then this is not the place for you. It actually seemed very lively one night to our surprise. We came in at about 10pm and heard music and saw dancing and clapping in the common area. But then an employee was quick to come outside as we were approaching telling us it was a private event and we had to use another door. We kind of wanted to be in on the action and thought it was weird they were turning their clients away. All in all, this is a good place if you are on a budget but I would spend 5-10$ more to be closer to Sorrento.

To be fair this 'hotel' is actually in quite a good location. About ten minutes walk from the train station of sant'agnello and 10/15 to the centre of sorrento, sant'agnello peaceful and out of the hustle and tourist bustle of the centre. The room was not bad, small, clean enough. The night before we were due to check out we arrived back from a long day walking in Capri to find a karaoke evening taking place in the dining hall/bar among the locals. We were not informed of this at any time, and it was LOUD. The building is an old nunnery, and soundproofing is nonexistent. The racket carried on until early morning whilst the children of the "singers" were left rampant in the hotel corridors. We were very happy initially with the price we were 'supposed' to pay the next morning when we left, until an extra 24 euro was added to the bill for a local community tourist tax. This had to be payed in cash. We immediately checked this on the internet and found that the sant'agnello and sorrento councils have recently introduced a tourist tax of 1-2 euro per night per person. The problem was that we were being charged more than double what we should have been. Once this was sorted out we were still refused a receipt . A pity really, we truly felt as though they had simply tried to take advantage of us after what had been (up until the last 24 hours) a pleasant stay.

We booked this accommodation based on splendid tripadvisor recommendations it had received. However we can´t absolutely agree with it.

When checkin-in, an eldery lady seemed to be very stressed. Even though we had a reconfirmation in our hand, she gave us the feeling, that there is no reservation. After she managed to start the reservation system and founding out, that she found us, too, we were given a room with a seperate bathroom on the other side of the corridor.
When we found that out, I went back to her again asking for another room with facilities inside the unit. The answer was negative and she told me, that the place was fully booked.
However I could see the screen of the computer and their reservation status, so it was easy to see, that the answer was incorrect. Unfortunately her English was as poor as my Italian, so the communication got stucked. Luckily a younger lady of the crew came just in time and I was able to change the room.
Room was somehow nice, but there was not enough lamps, e.g. when you entered the room during night, one had to leave the door open, that the other one could go to switched on a light on a table. Bathroom was run down. Towels were never changed. Room not always cleaned nor the bed made. Bed was far to soft and so old, that I felt the metals between my rips (okay, my fault that I am not chubby).
Slept absolutly badly, as there is a bar close to the accommodation, and there´s a lot of noise and loud music playing.
Breakfast: we also asked for a glutenfree option in advance. We received 5 1/2 cookies the first morning and 7 1/2 the second. The third morning they apoligized for having forgotten to get us something and after that they don´t even mention it anymore.
There were cereals as Corn flakes, too, but unfortunatel the milk was sour. Coffee was cold, when you went for breakfast when they just had opened. Water for tea was never hot.

To come to and end: this accomodation is overprized and service rather bad. We can´t recommend it to anyone.

The B&B is in a great spot, with stunning views of the sorrento coastline. You pay a small price compared to the bigger hotels surrounding it, so if on a budget, it is a great find. We had a double room with our own bathroom which was directly across the hall. The building has lots of character to it and the staff were exceptionally friendly...especially the cute little dog! The downsides are that the doors slam easily and some guests didn't seem to be aware of how to close them quietly, so in the night you can get woken up with a jolt. Also the breakfast was ok but the bread for toast was not that fresh. The hotel is situated near a lovely bar with great views and also some really nice restaurants and it is a half hours pleasant walk into sorrento itself. There is secure parking and they will also do your laundry for you for 5 euros. We really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it for those wanting to experience the amalfi coast without having to spend a fortune.

This place is not a hotel. It is more like a hostel with very basic conditions. First it is difficult to find it as the sign is small and the building is hidden
The location is not the best if you aim to visit Sorrento unless you have a car.
The room we got was very big but very basic. old beds, small tv from the 50s which did not work, the worst toilets one could ever imagine and DIRT all over.
Breakfast was horrible, old stained plates and cups, bad black coffee and basic ingredients
I would not recommebd staying there unless you are real tight on the budget without other alternatives.

We booked this B&B based purely on the Trip Advisor reviews, without checking out the website. Please note: it is a BUDGET B&B. We thought we were booking a 3 star hotel. Either way, the poor hygiene & cleanliness certainly did not meet our expectations. The mould all around the shower cubicle was simply appalling. Stains on the bed linen. Threadbare grey towels that should have been white. Table clothes were stained leaving us to question whether they were changed in the dining room for the full week we stayed. The breakfast was very poor. We would have looked for alternative accommodation had we not paid £600 in full prior to our arrival, with a no refund policy following a last minute booking. Elina, on reception, was very helpful whenever we asked a question & the free wifi was great. The location is good if you want to walk into Sorrento - its about 20 - 25 mins. Would we stay there again? No.

Room Tip: Request an internal private bathroom, or you will end up padding up & down corridors to an exter...

I had to cancel my trip to a wedding in Sorrento due to family circumstances so have not stayed at this hotel, but Elina was most helpful with my problems and we came to an amicable solution. It looks lovely and will definately re-book to stay here in the near future. Thanks for efficient communication Elina!!!! Excellent English I must say.....Lynn
