After reading the reviews of others we nearly changed our holiday but did not as we always try to be positive and look on the bright side of things.
The hotel is very basic and it is noisy due to the plumbing, doors and nearness to the road. Other hotels in the area that are 3 starred seemed plusher from the reception areas and when viewed externally. The rooms etc. are old fashioned. The bathroom has no bath and a very very small shower.
Breakfast was cereals of crusty cobs with cheese and ham for the 14 days. Fruit juice, water and cake was also available.
The staff preferred that you choose your lunch at breakfast, to make things easier for them and the chef presumably.
The choice of starter was either fruit juice, soup or a pasta based dish on most days. Not all three as I first thought but just one. On some occassions the waiter, seemingly at his discretion, would ask if we wished for more of the starter to eat. We were asked about 5 times and took up the offer on 2 occasions. The main meal was served on a small dish with vegatables of the season (however it seems courgettes were most in season) with what seems like either a choice of a pasta based dish, veal, chicken, or omlette. Again only one option could be chosen but it was possible to change the meal if you did not like it and get another option which we did ask for once. You have to make your own entertainment at the hotel. The hotel is clean and the staff friendly. Ask them about places to visit. The pool is acceptable but must get crowded at high season.
The hotel is not bad but I think that there would be a better alternative if I stayed in the area again.

Had a fantastic tme at the Londra. Rooms very clean and spacious even the 3 bedded room. The shower cubicle was a problem though very small and had to leave cubicle doors open leaving a flooded bathroom! The breakfast was basic but all we needed, evening meal had a good choice each day and my son a very fussy eater always found something he enjoyed on the menu. The staff were brilliant especially the barman! A wide variety of drinks were on offer. The wine was very cheap and good a weeks bar bill came to 74 euros for 5 people enjoying a wide variety of drinks. Great authentic snacks served at lunchtime. Would go there again the only drawback was that it was 7 euros a day to run the air con. Otherwise a great hotel.

we stayed at the londra for a week at the end of june, its an ideal base to tour surrounding areas, local buses are outside the hotel and cost only one euro into sorrento,
the hotel itself is very clean with maid service daily, small pool with very comfortable sunbeds, its on a very noisy main road and traffic is noisy and busy all through the night, air conditioning is a must at 7 euros a day, worth every penny,
the resturant is very basic and the breakfasts are without doubt the worst we have ever experianced, cerial ,a few rolls, cheese and ham, evening meals dry and tastless, with packet soup,
the bathrooms are small ,and be warned ,if you are over 12 stone you will not be able to turn round in the shower cubicle, its tiny, all in all ,very disappointing

Just come back from a week's stay at the Hotel Londra in Sorrento. After booking i took a look at others review of the Hotel and was to be honest a little worried!

Hotel itself is Basic - VERY Basic, but clean. It was very noisy at night (you could hear other guests in their rooms). The food although not fantastic was authentic Italian fare - no frills and surprisingly some of the best pasta I've tasted. The staff were friendly and attentive and tried their best to make our stay enjoyable - with the exception of the Hotels Owner who was a bit formidable (don't think I saw him smile in the week). The pool although small was well kept and during our stay quiet, so now problems getting sun loungers! The drinks at the bar were a bit expensive and the price changed from day to day??? And there was no entertainment what so ever (not a problem until it was raining)!

It's about a 15 minute walk into the centre of the town and there aren't pavement the whole way so care should be taken. The bus does stop opposite the Hotel, you buy tickets from the Tobbachi down the road, and there's a taxi rank outside also. It's a good place to explore Sorrento and the surrounding area from.

If you don't want to eat at the Hotel, there are restaurants a short walk away in San Agnello, and a picturesque cafe/bar/restaurant over looking the bay just down the hill from the hotel.

We had a fantastic time in sorrento and on a budget (shame we didn't pay budget prices) the hotel is a reasonably good place to stay.

School trip. Dissapointed with the whole week. Food was very poor. Rooms were very basic, no heating and television didnt work, shower was like a box and hot water was limited. Hotel location was good but honestly that was the only good thing about it.

We went to the Londra last September. All though the staff where very friendly & helpful we were left VERY disappointed by the restaurant.
As has been mentioned the menu hardly changes especially for breakfast. However the thing that truly ruined it for us was the evening meals. They where at best appaling. I had longed to try a traditional Lasagne but found that it was very dry with little taste.
Thankfully, a local restaurant showed me that traditional Italian food was plain & tatsteless.
In San Agnello itself is a large cafe, adjacent to the church, which has a lovely Roof terrace eating area. The owner (whom we affectionatley called Mama) & her husband where truly amazing, always willing to help & didnt even mind when i tried out my limited knowledge of the Italian language. Their simple foods were a great incite into how Italians really eat. They saved the holiday & stopped it being a complete disaster. Even if you stay elsewhere in San Agnello or even in Sorrento its worth paying 'Mamas' a visit.
