Grand Hotel Parco Del Sole

This is a nice hotel in pretty gardens.
Cleanliness - Excellent - room cleaned perfectly each day, fresh bedlinen twice weekly, fresh towels daily.
Pool - wonderful, lots of beds and pool towels free.
Restaurant - Cool clean and very good staff
Food - Quite good, good selection each evening and nicely presented. Salad bar and puds on a buffet basis. Fresh and wholesome.
Room - Nice and big, Lots of storage space and hangers, large balcony, large bathroom., free aircon.
Staff - wonderful.
The downside is that the hotel is on a very busy road, nose to tail every day all day. It is quite stressful to come into the road and walk anywhere at all, due to noise, smell and fumes from traffic.
Also, there are 2 buffet nights in the restaurant. The food is excellent and plentiful, however the Maitre insists no one goes to the buffet until everyone is seated. You can imagine the pandemonium. It would improve things if he would allow everyone to go to the buffet on arrival, therefore alleviating the crush. Maybe its his idea of a joke?
Use the free shuttle bus, it will save you a fortune, the busses are now 2e each person each way. Trains are 2.20e return into Sorrento.
I would recommend the hotel, but be prepared for the traffic.

After reading some of the reviews my family (well, actually me, as I'm the one that booked and researched the hotel) were slightly apprehensive.

A quick word of warning to anyone travelling First Choice/Thomson. On arrival at Naples airport you will have to walk from the arrivals terminal along a blue line, to the now closed departure terminal. This was not too awful for my family and I (Me {35} my 2 children {8 and 12} and my mum {60} ) but we were lucky enough that we had grabbed a trolley at the luggage carousel and just wheeled that all the way. The walk takes about 10 minutes.

On arrrival at the hotel, we were delighted. The gardens are gorgeous, and the rooms were fine. We had booked 2 rooms, both twins, one room was decidely larger than the other, which may explain some of the discrepancies in the reviews. The cleanliness of the rooms was 1st class, with an additional "turn down" service in the evening. The food was marvellous. Pool area - FAB!

One final note of warning for FC/Thomson travellers. The journey home was just AWFUL. We waited outside the airport terminal in the coach for almost 2 hours. The check in desks (when we finally arrived) took a further hour. There was no time for any shopping in the airport whatsoever. PLEASE do not expect anything other than chaos and stress at Naples Airport (our rep informed us that this was a weekly thing - not unusual)

We went on a last minute holiday , never visited Italy before . The Hotel was excellent value for money , the building was well kept a few bits here and there needed a touch up but on the whole the Hotel was spot on. We ate every night in the Restaurant and the food was varied and tasty and well presented . Santo the restaurant manager and his staff could not do enough for the diners.Breakfast again was good and plentiful , Bacon, sausage, scrambled egg, boiled eggs, ham , cheese , cereal etc etc etc.
our rooms were clean and tidy, large with an excellent view upto the mountains, from the balcony.the pool was excellent 3.5m at the deep end, with a small area walled off for the kids.We were a family ranging from 78 yr old Grandma down to a 9 year old and we all had a great time in this Hotel.
The Hotel provides a regular free shuttle bus into Sorrento [ 5 minute ride ] the local railway station is a 5 minute walk away and from here the train goes to Sorrento [ 1.10 euro] or the other way to Naples [ 3.30 euros ] Pompeii is also reached from the local station [2.20 euros] the best way by far to get to Pompeii , the entrance to the site is 100yds from Pompeii railway station. train does get busy and warm , but the price cant be beaten and accompanied children are free.

We got a last minute deal on this hotel and were prepared for the worst. It was such a pleasant surprise to find our selves in this luxurious marble palace.

The room was adaquate and they had a bottle of local fizz and some chocolates waiting there for us. The pool is a good size and they have plenty of sun loungers so no need to get out early to reserve one (if that's your thing). The garden cafe (next to the pool) is excelent for a late brunch and they make a fine cup of coffee. Watch out for the little lizards scuttling round your feet - so cute.

Our reservation was half board but we only ate there on two of the seven nights, we enjoy our evening stroll in search of fine grub. You are only 15 minutes walk away from the delights of Sorrento and one or two of the local restaurants are rather good.

Also, do try the little bars and resuarants in St Agnello, they are a lot cheaper than Sorrento and have some good local flavour.

This is an exceptionally good value for money hotel. The rooms are large and very clean - we loved the champagne on arrival, a lovely touch and just what we needed after a long journey. It is easy to get to the train station from here which takes you to all the sites very cheapy - we visited Pompeii for a few Euros.
The hotel has a large pool with loads of comfortable sunbeds. We visited at the beginning of May so the hotel was lovely and quiet but I imagine it could get very busy in the high season.
The breakfast is fantastic with a great selection and lovely helpful waiters.
The rooms are incredibly clean with a maid service twice a day!
There are not many restaurants nearby but we found a fantastic one that did the best chicken and chips we've ever tasted - not very Italian I know but even the locals were queuing up to get theirs!
The hotel has a free shuttle bus that goes into Sorrento which is helpful as driving around this area is not easy! The only downside to this hotel is it's location - it is on a very busy road that is very hard to cross and it is a fair walk into Sorrento. Otherwise a fantastic hotel.

Although situated just outside of Sorrento, we loved this hotel. The restaurant was great. Service superb and buffet nights were excellent. Reception staff were able to offer good advice and timetables etc of local transport systems (which saved a fortune on big company tours). The hotel was very handy to train station and we used train to get to pompeii which was a very easy and cheap journey, especially for two people who would not consider themselves independent travellers. Shuttle bus service was available occasionally throughout the day in and out of sorrento. We only used this once and bus was full as service is for 2 hotels. If you dont mind approx 20min walk into sorrento this is an excellent choice of hotel. Hotel is siuated in Saint Agnello and we discovered local bar which was alot cheaper than those in sorrento. Only problem we encountered at the hotel was that our room was next door to noisy neighbours. The hotel staff were more than helpful in dealing with the problem and facilitated a change of room the following day (which was better than our previous room!) Pool area was great. As we visited in May it was quiet, and we never had to worry about not getting a sun lounger. Shaded areas were availiable under the lemon trees!! Hotel was clean and maid service provided twice daily. Several people we met in the hotel stayed in hotel parco del sole on more than one previous occasion. We would love to return to this hotel some time in the future.

The property was very outdated. Clean but dark and with a need of some maintainence and refreshing. Definitely not a 4 star. Breakfast not great either, everyday the same, no fresh orange juice and little food choices. Don't even think of trying coffee there! Pool area again, with a need of modernisation. Apart from the above, we liked the location, although it was a good 30min walk to the centre of Sorrento but we don't mind walkng so it was ok. The staff were also friendly and helpful. It was an ok stay with no major problems, just the property itself was not great. We woild definitely go back to that part of Italy but never again to this hotel and it lacked character and it needs a lot of investment to be a true 4 star hotel.
