“Really nice hotel, ticks all the boxes.”
Reviewed September 2, 2012

This is quite a large hotel compared to others in sleepy Sant Agnello. but don't be put off by that. It's friendly and welcoming, as well as clean, safe and comfortable. We had a shared room, which if I'm honest, was a little small, but we did have a balcony and the room was en suite. We were happy enough with it. The botel is no nonsense, and relaxed which we liked rather than luxurious. On paper it may be four stars but it did have a slightly shabby feel to aspects of it, but this isn't meant as a criticism. If you're expecting four star luxury and are fussy then this might not be the place for you. We loved Parco del Sole however. We were b&b, and the breakjfasts were fine, range of food was very good but the variety was lmited. The pool area is excellent with plenty of sun longers and deckchairs as well as shady spots meaning there was always somewhere avaialble to sit or lie down. The pool bar was pleasant and it was nice to be able to get a drink by the pool. The indoor bar remained closed however, and once or twice we wanted to sit inside the hotel in the evening and have a drink, but you'd have had to get your drink by the pool bar and bring it inside- not really a hardship but disappointing for a four star hotel. Wifi is in reception or in the more comfortable meeting room round the corner and works fine.
All in all, we'd recommend Parco del Sole without hesitation. It's very well located with a number of really nice bars and restaurants within five minutes walk. The road outside the hotel is a bit hectic but if you learn how to cross the road, then not a problem, and you can't hear the road from the hotel at all.

Room Tip: Don't bother requesting a room overlooking the pool, go for size of room instead. If you're...

Seems to be 2 sites of reviews for this hotel
Stayed her for a week Aug 2012. For the money we paid it was good value and all service good. If you want more expect to pay a lot more else where.
We had a side double room over looking some private accommodation and mountains with a side view of the pool. The room we stayed in was spotlessly clean sheets changed every other day and our towels seemed to be changed most days. They came in and turned our sheets down at night and one evening even remade bed after we had had a nap! But i don't think this is the norm. Some places around the hotel are looking a bit tired but i do believe they are gradually changing things. The room that we had to use a a courtesy room was not as nice as the one we had so it may be pot with the rooms. Although the people we spoke with were all very happy.
We got a deal £80 extra for H/B for both of us so went for it definatley saved us a lot of money. there was a good choice for Breakfast and 3 choices for the evening meals. Coffee was not very nice but if you ask for very hot water for your tea you then had a lovely cuppa. Drinks and food from hotel were reasonable prices. Bottles of wine started around 16 euros and soft drinks were 2.50 The Gala evening was good but do be there by 7.30
Very easy to do Pompei yourself. Catch train yourself for 3 euoes each return stops right outside. Entrance is 11 each and a guide 12 each or go round yourself with one of those telephone things 10 for the pair of you.
It is a bit of a walk into Sorrento but its not that bad. A Taxi is 15 each way or use the hotel shuttle bus. We caught the bus in and walked back.
Bar over road does nice cheap food and on the corner just up the road on right is Tony's bar where you can see what's going on. The roads outside the hotel is busy but so are roads in Sorrento itself. We personally didnt have a problem getting across the road
If you visit Capri you MUST go up the chair lifts to the top view absolutely amazing. We did this trip with Thomson's and was 70 each, which was worth it as it cosst 30 each to go by ferry, then you have to get to the port and back, To get up to the 1st part of Capri then up to Anacapri all very taxing as very hot and expensive if doing it independently.
Potistano is a lovely place and the Amalfi Coast beautiful. We did the Thomson select with just 12 of us trip was a great day and our guide was perfect.
All in all a lovely holiday but you must get out and about.

If you stay here you need to have reasonable expectations as to what to expect to avoid disappointment.

Good Things:
The pool is reasonably big with loads of sunbeds and towels.
Desk staff are very helpful and have good knowledge of the local area.
Very close to local train service.

Bad Things:
By far the worst thing about this hotel is the food - it really is terrible. I wouldn't feed it to my dog (if I had one).
It's a good 20 minute walk from Sorrento (the town of Sant'Agnello doesn't have much going for it in comparison to Sorrento). There is a shuttle bus however it's not very frequent and often gets full.
The rooms and interior are both a little run down and in need of a refurb (having said that, I found the hotel to be quite clean).
Paper thin walls between each room, if you have noisy neighbours, you'll know all about it.

Overall, I'd probably stay here again but purely on the grounds of cost and not because there aren't any better places to stay.

I stayed here last September but have only started reviewing on TripAdvisor. I found the hotel O.k, definitely not a 4 star. The pool area was great and the breakfast was fine. The hotel is a good walk from Sorrento with narrow foot paths. I believe part of the hotel was renovated and some of the rooms in the pictures look nice and fresh. We were staying in an old, well-worn room. The carpets in the corridor were worn and the view from the balcony was a scruffy car park and road. The upholstery and furniture in the room were very dated. I expected more for the price we paid

The hotel is old and tired and in bad need of renovations. The rooms are small and very basic. The corridors are quite bad with worn and stained carpets. We stayed B&B and the breakfast was very poor. The hotel is too far outside of Sorrento.

This hotel is classed as a 4 star, I would rate it a poor 3 and would not stay in the hotel again.

Ok, so I’m going to try very hard with the “positives” of this hotel…..the swimming pool area is very good, with lots of sunbeds; free towels (a bit threadbare) and a good bar/lunchtime outdoor restaurant close by.
The Reception staff were very helpful & knowledgeable. We used them to book restaurants for us in Sorrento.
The courtesy bus was also a bonus. A few more trips in the evening back from Sorrento would make the bus rides a tad more pleasant…not so crowded.
I’m afraid that’s it with the “positives”!
Heh ho, let’s begin with our room….we were assured that Room 326 was quiet. No noise from outside the hotel but hearing the guests in the next room using the bathroom….loo/taps/hairdryer was quite unpleasant. The space outside the room seemed to be the laundry storage area. Not good to look at when passing or hearing the maids chattering early in the morning.
The room was small. The bathroom door couldn’t be opened fully and banged against the bidet. It took ages to work out how to fill the bath because the button was stuck on “shower”. There was also a broken tile in the bathroom doorway which in our opinion was dangerous! There was no drinking water available unless you went out and bought it….. no fridge, so it couldn’t be kept cold. The air-con couldn’t be adjusted. We believe the necessary switches had been damaged/removed from the air-con panel. This meant that whoever slept on the RHS of the bed was subject to a continuous night time cold blast even on the low setting. We also got fed up with watching BBC World Service or CNN because there were no other English speaking channels. Unfortunately, the hotel was full so we couldn’t change rooms.
We agree with past guests who wrote on Tripadvisor that carpets were worn. Dirty glasses and beer bottles were also regularly left on corridor tables.
Now we get to the food…..fortunately, we decided to stay on a B & B basis. The breakfasts were truly terrible. Avoid the coffee at all costs. The fruit juice was soooo sweet and needed to be watered down with the bottled water provided. Why they couldn’t provide proper glasses for anybody who dared to drink it, I don’t know….disposable plastic cups were unacceptable. The bacon & scrambled eggs were unpleasant. The ham was the reformed stuff and the cheese was tasteless. As for the fresh fruit….very poor quality and handled by anybody who “felt” like it. Bowls of tinned peaches….2012?? We did see a big bowl of fresh fruit salad being loaded into a lift one day…..why they couldn’t serve that for breakfast, I do not know!
It was actually safe to stick to toast as long as you put it through the toaster twice to get some colour.
The Grand Hotel Parco del Sole is supposed to be a 4* hotel. In our opinion it is nowhere near this standard and would NOT recommend it to anybody.

Room Tip: Avoid Room 326.
