We had long been looking forward to our visit to Sorrento and I had been looking at the hotel website in anticipation. What can I say? It exceeded all our expectations. We arrived after a lengthy drive to a very warm welcome. It is set up on the side of a cliff up a narrow street. i was uncertain where to park and really did not want to get back in the car, so one of the staff parked the car for me! We were taken to our room, which had a huge veranda and the most wonderful panoramic view of vesuvius and the surrounding areas. It was breathtaking. The room was comfortable, traditional style. A tad basic perhaps, but it really didn't matter. After that we sat on the bar terrace with a bottle of wine and soaked up the view. We don't normally eat at hotels, but being tired we decided to make a change. A four course meal for 25 Euro, which was amazing and the waiters were so friendly.
Breakfast was buffet style, plenty of variety and again set off with an amazing view.
The hotel has some lovely outside areas to sit and relax, including the swimming pool area. We didn't use the pool, but made use of the verandas.
The hotel is well located for visits to all the sites and they offer a free regular drop off and pick up bus service to the main area in Sorrento, which operates throughout the day and night and was very useful. It was nice not having to worry about buses or taxis etc.
We ate in the hotel on our last night as we had an early departure. We mentioned this to the staff as we would be missing breakfast. Lo and behold, we were presented with a tray of food that we could eat in our room in the morning.
Honestly, it is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed at - the setting is peaceful, the views are stunning and the staff lovely. Sorrento and the surrounding areas are wonderful, and our little trip was made even more special by this lovely hotel. We were so sad to have to leave and long to be back there already. We very much hope that one day we can return again. Thank you to all the staff for making our trip so memorable.

Room Tip: Rooms at the top (501,502,503,504) have the wonderful balconies with the views.

My partner and I arrived at the Hotel on the 14th September, 2017. We were greeted by a friendly receptionist, details taken efficiently, and given our room key. Wow! We had a private(ish) terrace, with a view over S'Agnello that was breathtaking! (see attached photos). From our bed, we could see Mount Vesuvius across the bay, and the night time views were just as good.
The room, a standard twin, was spacious, fresh, and clean. It had everything you could want - fridge, safe, shower. A typical drawback of most Italian hotels is that there is no coffee making facilities in the room, but that's not a real problem.
The Hotel is about 10 minutes drive from the town centre of Sorrento, but it runs a free, regular shuttle bus service. It does have an excellent restaurant in the hotel, so if you don't want to go out for meals, you can eat in quite well.
Breakfasts were good - mix of hot and continental, which filled you up for the day, so only snacks were needed during the day.
On the Friday, we went to Pompeii and Vesuvius (see separate review). Came back and took a cooling swim in the pool on the top floor - towel at no charge.
On the Saturday, we went on a boat trip down the Amalfi coast, but became quite ill, due to Sea Sickness with a bit of heat-stroke, When we got back to the Hotel, courtesy of two Australian Nurses, the staff on reception really helped us, and short of calling for a Doctor (which was not needed), treated us very well, providing free bottles of warm water. Cannot thank the two Nurses and the staff at the Hotel enough!

We are a group of painters who travelled to Sant Agnello for the landsape for the weather, for nice Italian atmosphere. We found it all in addition we found the super friendly and helpful staff all departments, reception, restaurant, cleaning ladies who kindly helped us to arrange a dry spot after rainstorm. The sound landscape was also special, the commuter trains, church bells every hour, fireworks every day, dogs chatting, and the cars in traffic down below in the main street. I really miss this all, the wonderful food and Il Vesuvio - checking us every morning at the breakfast hall. Love you all! <3

Staff - lovely, friendly and extremely helpful nothing is too much trouble.
Rooms - v v clean, traditional style - don't worry about paying the ex for a sea view as the hotel has so many beautiful terraces it isn't hard to find a sea view!
Food - great food, fantastic breakfast and dinner, if you go half-board you can swap your dinner for a lunch just let the restaurant staff know. We ate in Sorrento one evening and ate from the snack menu (huge portions!)The food and drink is on the expensive side so it may be worth noting you can nip into town and grab a sandwich to take a away at a reasonable price for lunch rather than at the hotel. Service in the restaurant is amazing so helpful and friendly and if you don't finish your wine they will save it for the following night.
Pool/roof terrace - great views and plenty of sun loungers for the size of the hotel, pool cold but once you are in you can cope!
Shuttle bus - runs frequently to Sorrento and will drop you in town, will also pick you up if you are on your way back if they are on the way back from Sorrento, don't be put off the hustle on bustle everything is situated around a square so you can't get lost!

Things to do/be aware of -
No tea/coffee in room - may be worth taking a travel kettle and tea bags if you like a cuppa first thing!

Food/drink outside of half board - the room itself has a reasonable size fridge so you can stock up on water (or Vodka) soft drinks as a lemonade in the hotel costs around €3-4! My recommendation is nip into Sorrento using the shuttle bus there is a supermarket and little shops (close to the train station, which is where the shuttle bus drops you off) so pick up supplies there so you won't have to carry them up the hill. Also look for signs for sandwiches they are really cheap, again keep an eye out for where the locals are eating - it will be cheaper!

No ironing in rooms - the housekeeping staff will set you up and iorning board/iron in the 6th flr if needed.

Il Buca - recommended to us but we couldn't get a table so book it with reception for that special evening out.

The Wine bar - just down the road, great music, great wine!!

Sorrento - make sure you go to Sorrento in the day and in the evening when it really comes alive! It can be a little daunting at first but it was just like a trip to the local town ctr for us by the end of the week - do it more than once.

Vesuvius - bit of a hike but worth the views - take your time.

Herculaneum - we chose this instead of Pompei, really well preserved and more compact than Pompei.

Amalfi coast - paid additional €12 with the rep for the boat ride (definitely worth it). It was great to see Postiono, Amalfi, Ravello - the last being my favourite! Used the Thompson booking for this one, lunch was not great but the trip was good not sure it was worth the price!

The issue I had with the trips was that it felt quite rushed so even when we spend the whole day on the Amalfi coast trip we were only I the towns for around 3-3.5hrs. If you are there for more than 7 days then I would be braver and look at the public transport options as they have a great rail service and take a look around at our own pace - everyone speaks extremely good English so you can get by with just using your manners in Italian.

Huge review I know but I use trip advisor all the time so think it is only fair I give back what I take!!

Definitely recommend it, beautiful place, amazing people and so much to see and do!

Pictures of this hotel do not do it justice... It is a STUNNING property. Our rooms, the pool, the restaurant all had amazing views of Sorrento and Vesuvius. Every evening we had a bottle of wine and watched the sun set from the roof deck. Although the hotel is outside of the city center the views absolutely make it worth it. The hotel has a shuttle that runs frequently to take you to the city center and back. The hotel staff was amazing... so friendly and helpful. Francesca was a wonderful concierge and became a friend of our group during our stay. Thank you Cristina Hotel for making our stay in Sorrento absolutely magical!
