You can not visit Tuscany and not see Montecasale. Our group simply knocked on the door and the friar let us in to explore. He knew were from America. I'm not sure they do that often, but we were blessed that he took kindly to our group. Inside there was a big painting of Saint (Padre) Pio when you walk in. It was just beautiful. The history alone will leave you in awe, and after having the new Pope pick Saint Francis as his guide it makes walking in his foot steps awe inspiring, and leaves you full of goose bumps. The views and the gardens are beautiful, and the inside gives you a nice and peaceful feeling. I was moved to have actually laid on the stone that Saint Francis slept on! You can also see the room where Saint Anthony of Padua slept in. It's truly a beautiful experience and one I highly recommend. Even if you're not religious and you weren't brought-up in the Catholic faith, the views are spectacular and a do not miss! Beautiful, peaceful place. Bring comfortable shoes, because there is a lot of ground to cover. Bring a water bottle as well, and do not forget your camera!
