“The best in the old town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2013

Ate here 3 times during a recent holiday and each time we had a fantastic meal. The main dining area is upstairs (although there is a small street level terrace outside as well). The interior room has a degree of old school grandeur without being over the top. The staff are very helpful and, if you are not Italian-speaking, it is good to know that the standard of English is good and the menu comes with translations. The food is traditional Italian rustic in style with a high standard of delivery - each dish sounds interesting and has a twist that sets it apart from the run of the mill. We ate here in a group of 4 each time we visited and we had no bill above EUR 120 including wine and, usually, with 3 courses per person. It represents exceptional value for such a lovely restaurant and high quality food.

“Excellent food in an atmospheric setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2013

The restaurant is in a side lane in the old part of Sansepolcro but not far from the main road through. We have often passed the restaurant noticing it was always full of people enjoying dinner on the outside terrace. The threat of rain meant that we dined upstairs in a lovely old room beautifully set with tablecloths and chandeliers. We had such fun with a shared platter of local cheeses and wines- I counted 8 cheeses and 8 jams. Delicious start. I followed with the pork and figs and my partner had the rabbit with peppers. The rabbit was very tasty with real rabbit flavour but the pork was a bit dry, however the delicious fig sauce meant I still enjoyed the meal. The panacotta was not the best I have had in Sansepolcro but the cooked peach that I chose to go with it was delicious. I loved the idea of a trolley with desserts!! So tempting. We had the okay red house wine but next time we would order a bottle off the list which would make the meal even better.

“Probably the best restaurant in Sansepolcro town centre!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2013 via mobile

We have eaten here on a number of occasions when we visit sansepolcro. We have yet to be disappointed. On a busy Saturday night you may find waiting times slightly longer than you would expect in the uk but I assure you that the food is worth waiting for. The staff are always eager to please and will offer honest advice about menu choices when needed. The owner can be seen still serving and obviously gets great enjoyment from it in spite of his seniority.
My last visit I had the pork fillet with figs. .. is was fantastic and I would highly recommend it. To start we shared cheeses and compots abs also tempura fried vegetables. .. the zucchini flowers are delicious. The waitress was friendly and polite and humored our attempts of Italian.
On a Saturday or Sunday night I would advise sitting outside so you can partake in an Italian tradition of people watching. Via xx settembre is especially busy these two nights. Finally to top it all off when we received the bill another pleasant surprise. ... for 3 adults and a child eating 2 courses with wines and other drinks it came to the princely sum of €80... can't be bad to that?

“Very nice dinner, but skip dessert”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2013

A lovely dinner in a historic setting. Excellent pastas, very good service. But after such a nice meal, the desserts were disappointing - pans of mousse and custard that just were not up to the standards of the rest of the meal.
