I approached this museum as something to do on a rainy day, of which there have been a lot in Italy this year. As a doctor this was a really interesting museum with as much to interest my wife who is a an expert gardener. It is well laid out with the interior of the building being of interest itself. The 16th / 17th century illustrated books were beautiful and just about readable for those who know standard Italian. It has a interesting odour but escapes the ghastly stench I associate with certain soap shops I know in the Uk. The shop is different from in the UK and itself is an interesting aspect of current day Italian perceptions.

I found this museum by chance. I wish I'd had more time there really as it is wonderfully done. As someone else commented, the English brochure is very detailed. You walk through a series of rooms related to herbal medicine and botanical study, all gorgeously displayed and scented by bowls of herbs. It features some exquisite botanical drawings from herbals. If you have any interest in plants, or botanical visuals, this place will have a real charm.

This is a very small museum but I liked it because they have large bowls of herbs that you can run your fingers through, making it very tactile.

I was given an excellent brochure in English which served as a guide throughout the rooms. Everything is well marked and explained. The detail from the herbs and their portrayal in oriental carpets to the rooms where actual dried herbs are displayed and the glass ware used etc was very impressive, it is not overwhelming, a truly enjoyable and informative museum
