We spent two weeks at the Hotel Roma in July, 2007. The hotel is family run, and the family and staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. The setting is spectacular - a nearly 360 degree view of the Dolomites - and it is only 11 km from the center of very expensive Cortina d'Ampezzo. The food was good. The breakfast buffet was mainly limited to the items to be found on a continental breakfast menu. Dinner was well prepared, with homemade pastas, and occasional local specialties. The wine list had a large selection of moderately priced wines.
The rooms are in the process of being upgraded. Be sure to request one of the modernized rooms, as the older ones have very small bathtubs with only a hand shower.
Overall, the hotel is moderately priced and not fancy, but represents excellent value - summer or winter.
