“Wonderful stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2013

Last September we stayed in this charming hotel for four nights. We had one of the best suits which included two big rooms, huge terrace with sea view and Jacuzzi bath. The personnel have been very friendly and quick. Marieme is possibly the best hotel manager one could come across. She made sure that all our needs were promptly met; she even introduced us to the unique history of this hotel which used to be the centre point of some historical events. Though it was like living in the museum we felt very much at home here. Few days in this hotel definitely were the best part of our two weeks holidays.

Room Tip: Sea view is amazing

Yes, the hotel has seen better days. But for the price the hotel offers astonishing value in Sanremo and it's a lovely overnight stop. Staff were outstandingly helpful.
All in all, a find and a superb stopping point on the way to or from Italy.

I spent 3 nights but couldn't wait to come back again with my sister. Marieme, the manager of the hotel is the master of hospitality. We felt so much at home, but most of all, we enjoyed walking in the footsteps of many celebrities of the cosmopolitan and high class society. The hotel itself is a museum and we visited the room that hosted the “Peace Conference” that took place in Sanremo in the 20th century. I even took pictures seated at the piano that belonged to Mussolini's son. Among the staff, we particularly enjoyed mingling with Diarra. Splendid hotel and staff.

Room Tip: Just ask Marieme the manager. I stayed in a room with a view

That is plenty of opportunities to find out how it "used to be". The walls are breathing old-time glory. Maybe it is the last years that this hotel is the way it was this August - with slightly broken walls, old furniture and wooden floor. Yet I am very happy that we got to experience it. It is like visiting your grandparents old apartment. The charm of the old garden, sea view and very friendly service. A nice location in San Remo for a romantic weekend, if you are not the one who will get upset about too little soap, slightly leaking toilet and small parking and instead will focus on the scenic views from your balcony.

Room Tip: Sea view with a big balcony - even for the economical class

We only stayed here one night and were pretty happy with this hotel. I had booked a family room with air-conditioning, since I know I can't stand the heat in July. We were first given a very nice and large family room but with no air-conditioning. When I enquired about this, I first got a run-around about, sorry I hadn't paid for air-conditioning and sorry they did not have any air-conditioned room to put us in but we could get a fan. As it happens, they have Wi-Fi in the hotel and it works rather well and I found my booking confirmation on my email clearly stating air-conditioning. A manager has swiftly arrived to assist and sorts us out. We get two large interconnecting rooms with air-conditioning. The rooms are very pleasant and have nice ocean views through tall windows. Beds are comfortable. The wall-mounted air-conditioning unit in one room works very well, while the portable unit in the other room hardy gives a puff of cold air and was not even slightly able to cool the room down overnight. We tried the downstairs restaurant for dinner and it was average but reasonable value for money. The breakfast buffet in the morning was not impressive. Coffee was undrinkable, croissants dry, bread hard and no hot choices. While the rooms are great, I would skip breakfast here - there are enough eating places within a short walk. The location is nice and quiet. Free parking is right in front of the hotel.

Parquet flooring, proper room keys, coving, shutters, the works. Yes, it's old but it's a beautiful building. We had a room with a sea view, which was exactly that, not a mere glimpse of blue in the distance rather a panoramic view of the seafront. The room itself was clean, and a good size, with air con and a mini fridge. The cans in the fridge were over priced, but aren't they always? The bathroom was big and spotless. I was very happy with our stay in this hotel and will definitely return.
