“very tasty no-frills food in the old town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2012

We really enjoyed our dinner at this restaurant. The food isn't really gourmet / fine dining kind of food but I commented to my girlfriend that "If I had an Italian Nan, this is what I'd expect her cooking to be like!" - It's nice, homely, comforting, flavoursome food.

Served by friendly staff who tried their best to speak in English and amused us in the process.

Oh and great value too compared to some of the tourist traps on the coast!

Would recommend to others.

“Wet day - wonderful food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 8, 2012

Ate here twice. First for lunch on a miserable wet day. I had the 10 euro lunch menu that consisted of a huge plate of superb Ligurian antipasti followed by Ligurian style Minestrone - a funny combination but it was a miserable day and I needed warming up. Partner had seafood pasta. 1/2 litre and 1/4 litre of house rose. I could have had a range of pasta dishes as my second item - the antipasti was the only starter choice. Cost 33 euros.

Second time was in the evening - I had fish soup (fantastic), ravioli ligurian (superb) and ricotti with ameretti (delicious) my partner had stuffed tortellini and in her words the best "semi-freddo" in the world. The local rose wine was fresh and fruity and cost 5 euros for 1/2 litre - We had two. Coffee with sambucca to finish. All this for 50 euros.

The person from Stockholm cannot have been to the same restaurant - all the food was fresh. The family lived by the kitchen - young dad was cook and mum was the waiter. The little kids played in the restaurant. It was charming and cosy. Make the effort and go there - do not expect a wide range of choice but be assured you will have great food.

“Worth the uphill walk”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2011

This restaurant is not out to attract tourists, but local people after good value, down to earth food! We were so glad we found it after first looking in the wrong end of the old town. We visited on a Tuesday (market day) lunch time and received a fantastic welcome with excellent food. There are plenty of tourist type restaurants down in the main town, but that is what they are - tourist restaurants! This was well worth getting lost for and highly recommended. The food in home cooked and unpretentious. The staff are welcoming and friendly.

“A charming place in the old town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2011

Do not expect anything fancy...the place is hard to find (wonder a little while in the old town and you should manage to find it...)
The cuisine is simple but really tasty. You go there for the atmosphere: an old house filled with different traditional objects and "curiosités".
We had been there 4 years ago and wanted to experience it again... In september and in the middle of the week, we were the only guests. We had a great time and managed to communicate with the owner using our basic Italian and a few french words. The food tasted home made and was really tasty. The meals are simple, quite filling and the wine of the house is good. The prices are quite low.

“This is a fraud!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2011

This is probably the worst place to eat in whole San Remo. No family restaurant at all!!
It's a big fraud don't go there everything is microwave cooked or from cans. We refused to pay full price.
