Very comfortable stay in quaint old part of town. Enjoy a drink & a chat in the bar - Sarah is a great hostess. Rooms clean, tidy & warm. Good breakfast before hitting the slopes (gentle 10 min walk with boots on). Great restaurants nearby - Sugo's, L'ortiche, Del Falco. If driving, note there is no car park so it's pot-luck on nearby roads. Also, there are cameras to catch you if you enter town centre during peak times (just like home). Recommended.

Whilst we didn't stay hear, we always visit the bar to unwind after a hard days skiing and catch up on village news.

This hotel and bar is in the beautiful old town of Sauze and is run by an English lady and her Italian husband so is fantastic source of local information. It has a great selection of local wines, beers and free WiFi.

Best thing about the hotel is Sarah who cannot do enough to help and make your stay as comfortable as possible. The hotel itself is 2 star and that's about right. As with many alpine hotels it's basic and functional. We found the double bed (2 singles joined) very firm (not lumpy), which is great if you like that, but too firm for our liking. The other couple we were with said their's was ok. The bathroom was very small but functional. Had a problem with the hotel hot water but this was sorted out quickly. As was the faulty safe. The boot room is not heated, so it's smelly boots in the room unless you want to put on damp ones in the morning.
The breakfast was continental and had a variety of things to eat without being extensive. Having said that there was a very good choice of teas, croissants, and the muesli was perhaps best I've ever had. Nice little arched breakfast room.
Nice bar area, with good choice of drinks.
Really good location. Near enough to slopes, bus stop, bars and restaurants without being on top of them.
Free WiFi worked well.
Sarah was flexible with check-in / out times which helped us and we had keys so we could come and go as we pleased (unless you forget them, in which case Sarah was a phone call away and there within 2 mins - thank you!)
In general the hotel is basic but very good and in a great location.

We have just returned from a wonderful stay over the New Year Holiday period and the Gran Trun was just perfect. From the minute we arrived by train Sarah was just so helpful....there was no bus to meet the train and with a number of trains arriving together there was chaos at the station but a quick call to the hotel and sarah organised a taxi for us within minutes. The hotel itself is great with nice clean rooms providing ample space for the four of us, good shower and a terrific breakfast each morning. The bar which is open from 3.30 until 9 pm each day is wonderful and the perfect way to end a long day of skiing. Sarah is just a wonderful host and is so friendly. We will be back.

I booked a New Year holiday with friends with this hotel trough a travel website. After receiving confirmation, I booked my flights the next day. Later i received an email stating my credit card details was incorrect. Unfazed i proceeded to book again only to find out the Hotel had hiked their prices threefold. I called the booking company who stated that there was no problem with my card details and the Hotel conceded it was their mistake but they had not liked the price we had received. They did not call me, offer an apology or any discount. I was left with booked flights and no hotel. It could be a very nice hotel but we never go the chance to see.

As a party of three gents on a 4 day skiing trip we needed two things, a hearty breakfast and a bed close enough to fall into (the local wine is cheap and very palatable).

The lady looking after the hotel, Sarah, was superb. Very sociable and had the breakfast rush organised to a tee. The rooms were not the lap of luxury but to be frank, for the money, they were more than acceptable- the shower is possibly the best I've used in a ski resort!

The location is very central if you plan to take in some Après-ski, there is 5-10 minute walk in the morning to jump on the Clotes lift but not a problem if you've had a strong coffee.

All-in-all a great little spot, that's value for money.

P.S the free broadband is a nice bonus.
