“Disappointed”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

Stayed here at the end of Jan as part of a large group booked through Inghams

Plus points
-great location next to the piste near the Clotes chairlift. Virtually ski-in at the end of the day and a short stroll to the bars
-nice sized hotel rooms, larger than average with plenty of wardrobe/ storage space. Cleaned to a high standard
-friendly staff; I was led to believe it's a family owned hotel

Negative points
-food was, at best, average and below what I've become accustomed to through other tour operators. Breakfast was basic, the only hot option being DIY ham and cheese toasties. Afternoon tea was just that; tea bags but with lukewarm water from an urn. Many other operators put out a selection of cakes. Evening meal consisted of a buffet antipasti, soup, two pasta courses, main meal and dessert. Generally bland and at best ordinary. Dessert one evening was a bowl of tinned fruit cocktail in syrup (a la Del Monte) with an amaretto biscuit on top. The processed burger and greasy overcooked chips another evening was also dreadful. I appreciate everything has to fit a budget but why not cut the number of courses and focus more on quality instead? I'd also have sacrificed one of the early courses for a coffee at the end.
-water temperature for showers was no more than lukewarm most evenings; not good when you've been skiing all day. I mentioned this to reception who sent their maintenance man up to have a look. Apparently there was a spare part being fitted the next day but the issue didn't improve and it seemed the boiler system was just incapable of dealing with the number of rooms.

To comment on a broader basis, the tour operator rep was pretty invisible and we didn't receive any feedback forms to complete at the end of the week. A separate rep on the coach back to the airport reminded us to hand back the non-existent feedback forms and also (to general amusement) made a big tourist pitch re the benefits of visiting Turin on the way back from skiing. A shame they hadn't thought that one through; we had to check out of the hotel at 10am but weren't picked up until 2.30 for the transfer. They could even have charged a few quid for an earlier start and a short diversion to the city itself.

Having read negative reviews on this hotel before we went we weren't sure what to expect. On arrival we were greeted by the manageress who was extremely friendly and made us very welcome. The rest of the staff were also very friendly and helpful. Our room was very spacious, clean and warm. There was a problem with the water but this was being dealt with during our stay - we personally had no problems. The food was typical Italian - cold buffet breakfast plus a toastie machine where we could make ham and cheese toasties, evening meal was more than adequate - soup, cold buffet starters, pasta dish, main course and dessert. Perfect location. We would have no hesitation in returning in the future.

Room Tip: High floor - quieter

I have seen a number of varying reports with regard to this ski Hotel so just thought I’d add my unbiased report as I was one of a party of 20 people that stayed there for one week starting on 21 Jan.
The hotel building itself was fine but we found the following faults to be very annoying:-
• About 70% of us had no (or very little) hot water or it was very hit and miss. A few rooms had too much hot water with my neighbour having hot water supplied directly to the toilet pan. Basically, the hot water tank cannot meet the demand. Having a cold shower after a days skiing is no fun believe me!
• The breakfasts were very basic and cold – not very inspiring. The coffee was from a machine and horrible.
• The afternoon tea was served from an earn and was only luke warm. Even when it was first put out at 4:30.
• Evening meals were quite satisfactory so long as you like pasta.
Hope this puts the record straight. I still had a great holiday as the ski conditions were perfect.

Hotel is in a great location. I stayed here with a group of friends and it was really good. Rooms have everything you need. The staff is very polite and friendly and the welcome very warm. Breakfast is continental with the addition of toast and dinner is really super: every night 5 starters, a soup, two pastas, meat with two types of vegetables and dessert.
I recommend Hotel Hermitage..
I read some negative reviews and I think those people were expecting too much from a three star hotel.
My vote is 10!

Stayed with a largish group, 9 adults from 2nd - 9th Janiary and even though the hotel is ski in ski out that is the only good part of the experiance.

Room was clean but shabby, mould in a few places, shower condition and operation very poor.

Breakfast was the worsed I've experianced in 40 years of travel, cereal, dry tasteless bread and spreads, not much good for a day on the slopes. We brought in bread from local shop for 1 euro (worth it). Evening meal is good if your on high carbs and limited protein.

The manager was very abrupt and lied every time you asked her to resolve and issue and we had many.

Would not return again.

It was my second holiday at this hotel. The welcome is always warm and it was nice to see again Roberta and Michaela. The hotel is very comfortable: on the pist and just a short walk from the ski lift. The rooms have everything you need. We never had any heating problem. The food is really good and plenty: it is true that there are two courses of pasta but we are in Italy ... I hope to be back soon!

First of all can i just say thet the Hotel is in a fantastic location, and some of the staff are great. The heating in our room and 1 other room in our party wasn't working for the whole week we were staying and we also heard other people complaining that their room was cold. During the night we had to put clothes on top of our bedding to keep warm. all we kept hearing was that the heating engineer is coming tomorrow. The electronic room key system is a joke, one evening it took me 53 tries to get in our room, other days it was on average about 10-20 goes this became a joke, all the other rooms in our party had the same problem. One member of our party went to speak to the Manager as she had tried for several minuites to get into her room and was told that the key had become scambled as she had the key next to her lift pass, she was told this happens with Mobile phones too, why had'nt she told us this when we checked in? The food, there was enough of it but the quality was very poor, they tend to try and fill you up with 2 pasta starters and the main meal is small and of poor quality. One evening the main meal was a very preocessed burger and chips!!! The New Year Gala dinner was a 10 course meal, 1 course was a 1 burnt Vol u Vent it looked ridiculous on the big plate. The rooms were cleaned every day but one day the room smelt very badly as the cleaner had used very dirty water to clean the floor in the bathroom I had to go over it with wet wipes to get rid of the smell. The reason we chose this Hotel was we had stayed here many years before when it was a lovely well run family hotel. We won't be returning here again.
