just came back from grand baita, just across from the main square and about 15 minute trudge up hill to the nearest ski lift. the hotel is spotless and warm the food is fantastic with a varied menu, and the staff and owner are really nice people, who are very welcoming. the lounge/bar area is nice and restful, if you want to party go out to one of the nearby bars, but the town is not as noisy as it used to be....
the ski area isn't as big as some resorts in Italy but has some great skiing, including going through the trees at the side of the piste...great fun.we had everything from sun to rain and snow when we were there and the bottom slopes were a bit slushy, but then it is the end of the season....great holiday would go back again.

Excellent food, friendly staff, comfortable beds, lots of hot water, lovely bar with roaring fire, great village centre location - what more can you ask. We loved Hotel Gran Baita. For us the walk to Clotes ski lift & the ski back every night was too much for a holiday so we got the ski bus to Sportina lift & hired a locker at Clataud - worked really well.

We stayed here as part of a large group of friends on a ski trip.

I would stay at this hotel again mainly because the staff were very nice people. The food was very good and always served with a genuine smile.

Our room had plenty of storage and places to hang our clothes. The memory foam bed was comfortable and the shower was always at it's best once it warmed up. The room even had a UK compatible three pin electrical socket, very thoughtful. The room had an easy to use safe for small valuables.

On the first floor and at the front of the hotel, We did not experience any problems with noise of any kind.

There was a 500 metre walk to the Clotes chair lift which could get rather busy at the start of the day. We used the ski and boot storage at the chair lift even though there was also storage at the hotel.

Room Tip: Room 104 is a bit small. The bed is very close to the wall and curtains on one side.

We stayed at Gran Baita on 5th March for a week with our friends having read the reviews we were certainly not dissapointed! We got the last two rooms 502 & 503 which are family rooms sleeping 5! We had two rooms in effect - one with 3 single beds and one with a double! Fab!
The hotel is a little old fashioned but we all agreed this added to the harm. It's in a good position near the centre of the town on the flat but would advise to do as we did and leave skis at the ski shop at the bottom of Clotes. At 18 euros is is a must do!
The food in the hotel is absolutely superb! We could not fault it. Salad bar to start then another 3 courses! All good.
The staff were superb. Friendly and helpful. It was our friends birthday and without us telling them the waitresses prepared a hand drawn card and gave her a bottle of Prosseco. You won't get that at many hotels!
One tiny little gripe which had nothing to do with the hotel was that the bin van woke us on 3 mornings at 6:30 so if I stayed again - which We certainly would I would request a room on the front as I doubt we would be lucky enough to get the family rooms.

Room Tip: Front room would avoid early bin vans
