“Lovely, friendly hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2013

Assietta is a lovely, small, friendly hotel, great value for money, in the middle of the town, perfectly located for the ski slopes, restaurants and shops. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant, the bar and breakfast was good. Rooms simple but perfectly acceptable albeit beds were quite hard. Because the hotel is so well located inevitably the front bedrooms suffer a little from noise. We were a party of 7 who have skied together in various resorts and stayed in all types of accommodation over the years and we will definitely be revisiting Sauze d'Oulx and hotel Assietta again.

I stayed at Hotel Assietta on my skiing trip in February 2013. Hotel is about 5 minutes walk from Clotes ski lift. It's a very nice, clean, and comfortable hotel. It's located in a very center of medieval Alpine village, right on the main street. It's about 15 minutes ride from the nearest train station in Oulx. I didn't even have the car because everything is within walking distance.

We have just come back from a week in Sauze, where we stayed at the Hotel Assietta. What a place, the village is a great for eating out in the evening, i would recommend eating at the Assietta for great pizzas and lovely fillet steak (you also get 10% off your bill) and also eating at Sugos for great pastas and bruschetta. The hotel itself was simple, uncomplicated and clean. The breakfast offered plenty of variety and was always presented very well, there was always lots of it as well. Marie and her team are really friendly and helpful - checking in was a breeze, not the usual queuing. The ski locker was very handy and had easy access to dump your boots before going off for some apres ski - you must go to the New Cotton Club across the road where Bierra Morretta was 2 euros 50 a pint until 9pm.

The boot room could do with it's heating turned up a bit - not a massive issue but we had wet boots on one day when the weather had been very cold, if it is very cold take them to your room because it is lovely and warm.

The only negative is that with it being a small hotel if you get one bad apple ie a noisy family or group you can hear them from just about anywhere in the hotel. Just pray that you don't get one or get some very good ear plugs. Rooms at the back of the hotel are away from the square so you get no noise from footfall or if you can't beat em join em!!!

We will definitely be going back the hotel, village, restaurants and skiing were excellent!!!

Room Tip: Rooms 109, 110, 111 and 112 on the second floor are at the back of the hotel and I guess that that w...

Great location, right in the centre near all restaurant, bars and shops.
When arrive on coaches the stop a bit down the mountain because the buses can't get up the thin roads, they take your bags to the hotel by mini bus and you walk, it's not far at all it took at the most 2 minutes.
Amazing food from the restaurant down starirs, eat there a few nights because it was that good.
There is a pizza place in the old town ( can't remember the name) it down a small ally and down some staires, most amazing pizza ever!
Hired a snow board for €75 for the week and it was brand new, great value for money.
The hotel has a room to store all skis and boards

We got back last week from a boys long weekend trip to Sauze d'Oulx. Eight of us looking for 4 x twin bed rooms.

The Assietta is a small hotel right on the main square with a nice bar and a fairly decent breakfast, though there was a reasonable choice available it didn't vary. The sausages are best avoided.... we mentioned this to Marie and they disappeared the following day....! A pan of scrambled eggs would be nice.

The rooms are a decent size, warm and cleaned daily. Bathrooms have been refitted and are quite modern. Shower works a treat.

Marie (the owner) is also really helpful, arranging for food for us on the night we arrived (very late) and also arranging for a post ski shower room on our departure day to save the fellow eJ passengers from an assault on their nasal passages....

Noise wise there really isn't anything to worry about. The bar downstairs can't be heard and closes quite early and even the nearby night clubs and other larger bars couldn't be heard on a Saturday night.

Ski bus about 10 metres from the hotel - which has a ski locker and boot warmer.

All in all I'd happily go back to the Assietta and recommend it to people in a heartbeat. Unless you're some snob expecting 5* accommodation for very little money you won't be disappointed.

For the price we paid - absolute bargain!

We stayed at the Assietta for our first stay in Italy and it was amazing. The hotel was exceptionally clean and the food very very good. Staff were extremely helpful and always smiling. Our only complaint was the noise from staying at the front of the hotel, oh and the beds were a bit hard! But overall it was a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Not at the front of the hotel.

Stayed at this hotel through Nielson over xmas and as lovely as the place was it was quite an unpleasant experience for us as we were on the first floor at the front (sorry can't remember the room number!), directly above the restaurant/bar and the outdoor area. We had the constant noise of the sliding doors opening and closing as well as the general noise and smoke from people below which made it impossible to sleep at night until everyone had left in the early hours. Breakfast was pretty good, although Nielson advertise 'buffet breakfast with one hot option' and this hot option was baked beans every day lol but the place was always clean and tidy and the staff smiley and helpful.
The ski bus stop is right outside and we got the first bus every morning without any queues and were on the first lift just before 9am without any hassle. The hotel has a handy lock up outside to store your ski equipment, complete with heated boot holders!

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms at the front if you want to get some sleep!
