“Sublimely Comfortable”
Reviewed February 20, 2013

We have stayed with Fabio and Daniea ever since they first opened the hotel. We used to walk past it on the way to ski lift as a derelict shell. They have restored it in a truly stunning manner. The short evening walk to the bar/restaurant sharpens the appetite for the truly excellent menu. There is a great choice of restaurants in Sauze, but I can't think why I would want to sample them, Fabio's cooking is such an excellent example of Piedmonte cuisine. If you want nightlife Jouvenceaux is off the beaten track, but if you want a relaxing quality holiday with the piste and lift literally round the corner I can't think of better. We will keep coming back for many years to come.

Room Tip: They are all excellent.

Cozy and typical B&B, stone walls, wooden beams, log fire.
Good breakfast (with some home-made things).
We also had dinner at their restaurant: good food.
Reasonable price.
Excellent location (30 metres from the chairlift !!).

The only drawback is the lack of apres-ski activities in the little village (however there are plenty in Sauze D'Oux, only 3 minutes away by car).

We have just returned from our second trip to Sauze this season and both times we stayed with Fabio and Daniella in their charming hotel! They are fantastic hosts and their hotel is beautifully kept. The breakfast is very varied and in the evening you walk down the lane about 50 metres to their superb little restaurant with delicious food. Their personal attention is second to none and they always remember what you like and try to ensure that this is available. I see others have mentioned the steep climb up to Sauze village which is very true but the cost of a taxi to and from Turin Airport and Jauvenceaux is about the same as hiring a car - you can then drive yourself up to the village rather than have to walk or taxi!! We will be back next season and will definitely be staying with Fabio and Daniella again. the first time we stayed there we were a group of five and the second we were just a couple - both times we were made to feel very welcome and accommodated for accordingly. The opther great advantage is that you are approx. 50 m walk from the bottom of the ski lift and when the snow is good you can ski all the way back down to the Hotel!

I'll be going back soon for my 4th stay with Fabio and Daniella at this wonderful hotel. We go as a large group and take the place over....great fun! It's small and charming and kept to a very high standard. The rooms are well presented and we eat at their restaurant about 50 metres down the road, where the food is great - and loads of it! And they are very good at looking after me as a vegetarian.
It's just a couple of minutes walk from the chairlift.
It's in the tiny and pretty village of Jovenceaux, about 10-15 minutes walk from Sauze d'Oulx (the trip to Sauze is up a very steep hill, so it builds your thirst).
If you're looking for action and night life on your door, this isn't the place for you. If you're looking for peace, comfort, great food, lovely hotel, then this is the place.

Just returned from 10 day trip skiing in Sauze. We booked independently as a group of 5 and arranged return transfer from Turin through Sauzeonline for 360 euro. We have stayed in other tour operator hotels in Sauze and Jouvenceaux. This hotel is fantastic in comparison. The rooms are attractive and very comfortable with plenty of hot water. The breakfast is plentiful and varied. The evening meals are provided in the local (30m) restaurant and are very tasty.
The boot room is adequate and heated with a 50m walk to the Jouvenceaux lift which can be skied back to when the snow is sufficient. Fabio and Daniella are fantastic hosts and work really hard to make this hotel the undoubted gem that it is. The only minor reservation is that there are no other facilities in Jouvenceaux so an evening in Sauze requires a bit of effort as it is a steep 30 minute uphill walk (nick named cardiac hill) or a taxi ride at 8 euro pp. The ski bus red line service to Jouvenceaux from Sauze stops at about 17:00 so cannot be relied upon to get you back to Jouvenceaux if you want some apres ski in Sauze.
The La fontaine hotel at the Jouvenceaux lift is very good for apres ski especially with its large terrace if the sun is out.
We recomend the Moncrons bar in Sauze and its owners Mark & Karen for their extremely helpful do anything to help attitude.

Super hotel. Room's, service, food, staff, decor, cleanliness, efficency all first rate. Perfect for a group of friends.
Only downside is the difficulty of getting to and from Sauze after the lifts have shut. (this is not the hotels fault) Local taxi services are errattic and difficult to obtain. The ski bus time table is very poor.
Do not let this deter you from the hotel. Suggest emailing Fabio prior to your arrival if you wish to arrange a taxi up the hill for a little apres ski........the walk down is easy enough in real boots but not ski boots.....its not known as cardiac hill for nothing!
Will certainly return next year.

Ticks all the boxes. Beautiful clean and comfortable with a large sitting room complete with roaring log fire and bar. 2 minutes walk from the chair lift. Large comfortable, dry boot room. The food is fabulous and is served in their restaurant about 25 yards up the cobbled street.
Absolutely cannot fault the service and comfort of this place and the way that Fabio has restored this beautiful old building.Every detail has been thought of to make life comfortable and convenient - must mention great showers .
It is a great place to go with a large group too. However if you are looking for a party you will need to make a short trip to sauze , this area is quiet but perfect after a long days ski
