We were very disappointed with this hotel - it did not live up to the description in the brochure. The evening meals fell far short of what we expected.

The bar was not a bar - but a service area with a whole lot of bottles set up in the centre of the room.

The evening entertainment after dinner was a keyboard player.
It made us feel old before our time.

When dinner was over 9 p.m. - it was too late to make it in to Riva which was a bout 20 mins. walk.

Stay in the centre of things - make sure the hotel you book is right in the hub of things - not on the outskirts like the Savoy Palace.

It is city breaks for me from now on. More happening.

we have just returned from The Savoy Palace Hotel after a weeks stay. The rooms were great for space and furnished well could have done with more light in the bathroom, thats the only negative. Breakfast was choice of continental or bacon , eggs etc. The hotel owner/manager was in attendance every evening making sure everyone had everything they needed, food was great, some nights we had a 5 course meal ! Afternoon tea served between 4-5 pm was another bonus!

this hotel is not close to Lake Garda, from the rooms at the top of the hotel the lake can be seen but its a few minutes walk to the edge of the lake, its better to ask for rooms at the front of the hotel as they get the sun all day.

This is a family run hotel and it shows !!!!

Just arrived back from the most perfect holiday. This hotel is one owned by the Tonelli family.Words will not do this hotel justice. You need to experience it to appreciate the quality of service, facilities, catering generosity and welcome from Peter our host.We were made to feel very special and nothing was too much trouble for the Staff of the hotel. My husband was wooried about the cuisine, but he could have what he wanted for dinner each night from fish to steak. We are certainly going back there and highly recommend this wonderful haven.

The Savoy Palace is in a side street just a few yards from the main road into the center of Riva. The location is convenient but quiet. Our room was on the 5th floor with beautiful views of the mountains.

The outdoor pool was very attractively laid out (there are steps down into the water now) with a spa pool and a little spa area in the main pool. We were there in September and it was never busy round the pool, plenty of loungers to choose from but the water was VERY cold. Pool towels are provided.

From the Savoy Palace it is about a 30 to 40 min walk along the lakeside (passing several cafes en route) to the center of Riva with its shops and the harbour for boat trips. In the other direction it is about a 50 min walk into Torbole, another very attractive resort. Beware the bikes on this path though. The area is surprisingly flat and many hotels provide bikes for hire so you get a lot of people who have not been on a bike for years coming at you at speed and, of course, a lot of young racers showing off their 'skills'. We nearly got mown down on several occasions and, being of an age where injuries take longer to heal, we were sometimes quite nervous walking here. You can avoid this by sticking to the pavements along the main road. Unfortunately you also avoid the lovely views.

Meals at the Savoy Palace were great. The food just kept coming, all of it delicious. If you are prepared to try something a bit different, you wont be disappointed. The waiters (and all the staff) are very friendly and the hotel owner is often on site to make sure all is well.
All in all, our only complaint was the weather. We arrived on a beautiful sunny day but by day 3 of our holiday the rain was coming down in torrents and the temperature had dropped. Nothing anyone can do about that (it was September after all) but we could have packed better. Tip: bring a brolly and a light jacket and some weather proof shoes!
Great hotel, great location, shame about the rain.

We booked this hotel as part of a late booking on the Thomson Holidays website. Knew hotel was a little out of town but generally all looked OK. Late Bookers cannot be choosey, can they?.
At the end of our holiday we felt we had chosen the best resort on Lake Garda and that the Savoy Palace was arguably one of the best hotels within that resort. 20 mins walk from Riva centre meant the hotel was quite. Our room was on the 4th floor facing towards the lake. Not a foreshore hotel so limited lake view is only available from 5th floor. For afternoon sun and bright room this is the room direction to go for. Room was very clean, bright well cared for and reasonable size. Clients were generally quiet during our stay.
We felt Hotel facilities were good. Pool size was reasonable and sun beds of very good quality and quantity. Pool was clean and well located. There were not too many ‘no show’ towel reservations’.
Evening meals were great value for money in our case as wine and water were included in special offer. Even without special offer I felt food and ambiance of restaurant was above average for resort hotel. Evening meal selection had to be made at breakfast time but that proved to be no problem at all. 1st course was buffet salad but then waiter service for following courses. Quantity of food per course was sometimes small but we found that the number of courses made up for that and we have no complaints. Restaurant was nice with fine linen and we felt we were eating out in a nice restaurant. Food was not exotic but it was generally well prepared, always hot and presented nicely. Value for money was very good we thought.
Reception staff were generally quite helpful and restaurant staff were very helpful The owner of business is always around and clearly takes a personal pride in his hotel.
Perhaps not the best hotel for families and best suited to couples who do mind a small walk into town. We had no complaints at all and would say that even at full price this hotel is good value and is the better hotel by far than other hotels owned by the family in the same area.

Just come back from 10 days at the Savoy Palace in Riva and i have to say this was the best holiday ever. The food was excellent and plentiful, a full breakfast buffet and a choice for the four course evening meal. The rooms were clean, modern and well maintained and we were lucky enough to get a room with a lake view but these are limited as you can only see the lake from the top floor due to other hotels. The staff were always friendly and were always ready to help with any problems.

The location is also great as it is only about 5 minutes from the lake and about 15 minutes walk from the centre of Riva. Plenty of beautiful sites and scenery and some fantastic restaurants. We found an excellent Chinese restaurant just off the main piazza up one of the side streets which made a pleasant change from the excellent Italian food served in the hotel and many of the restaurants in Riva.

We knew we wanted to go to Lake Garda but we were not sure which resort to pick,. We are really glad we chose Riva at the north of the lake because of the spectacular mountain scenery and the cool breeze off the lake during the afternoon. Riva is a lively resort with plenty to do without being noisy. It is easy to get around and visit other areas. We visited other villages and although nice we thought Riva was the best. We were also unsure of which hotel to choose but the Savoy Palace, Riva gave us one of the best holidays we have ever had.

We travelled with Thomson Lakes and Mountains and even the connection from the airport was smooth. We reached our Hotel, and the first sight of it was very impressive with pretty flowers on the terrace and a lovely large swimming pool. The check-in was very speedy and the receptionists spoke perfect English and were very welcoming. Our room was spotlessly clean and spacious, with a view of the terrace and the lake in the distance (500m). The hotel is surrounded by mountains – the views take your breath away. The only slight downside was the 20 minute stroll to the centre of Riva but lots of shops and facilities nearby.

The meals at this hotel were excellent. It is real Italian food (not pizzas) but cooked to perfection and served very well. The breakfast consisted of ham, cheeses, yoghurts, bread, fruit, cereals and in addition to this a full cooked breakfast of bacon, eggs, mushrooms and tomatoes and should you require fried eggs or pancakes the chef was standing by to cook these fresh for you. Each breakfast time you filled in a menu of your choices for the evening meal – this was difficult because we wanted everything!!!.

The evening meals were served to your table. You helped yourself to the salad bar and then the waiter delivered your courses previously chosen. The meal consisted of 5 or 6 courses, (salad buffet, starter, pasta dish, meat or fish dish and a wonderful desert). Every evening we enjoyed half a carafe of free wine either red or white and half a bottle of free water. We also had two Gala Evenings whilst we stayed here and these evenings where rather special and not to be missed. There was music every night on the terrace.

Other nice touches were the free cakes and tea/coffee each day and, of course, a happy hour. The staff were very friendly, helpful and very professional. They do an excellent job and nothing is too much trouble for them. You will even see the owner of the Hotel and he will speak to you all and check everything is fine. All the staff take a pride in their job and customer service to you.

Our holiday in Lake Garda was fantastic, made extra special by the wonderful welcome and service we enjoyed at the Savoy Palace. Highly recommended.
