“Brilliant Hotel and Holiday”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

Our stay at the Savoy Palace in Riva during the 2nd week in August 2013 was without doubt our best family holiday to date. Our rooms were slightly dated, but were comfortable and clean. The owner and staff were extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The food was superb and all other facilities were excellent. We would recommend this hotel to anybody and would certainly return again. We went with Riviera Travel and were very impressed with the company - our rep for the week (Werner) was brilliant and helped make the holiday with his knowledge of the area and sense of humour.

We booked the hotel through Riviera Travel and had a holiday that was excellent in every way.
As temperatures were in the 40's during the day the air conditioning was essential & worked very effectively. Our balcony overlooked the lake & the lovely terrace where there was live music each evening. We were impressed by the owner, Mr Tonelli, who played an active part in the smooth running of the hotel - in the morning he could be found serving the champagne & caviar on toast working through till evening when he'd be thanking guests for staying there. One evening he even drove his ferrari onto the terrace for people to sit in & have photos taken. The waiters in the restaurant & bar were all very friendly, helpful and also efficient. As most others have commented the food was excellent throughout
We would definitely return to the Savoy Palace

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms overlooking the bar terrace have lovely lake views

We stayed here for a week in August 2013 and were very pleased. The food really was good, the rooms were nice, and the waiting staff were very efficient. The hotel itself is about a 20 minute walk into Riva centre, but you have the option of going along the main road, or 5 minutes longer on the coastal path, and so is close enough go go into the centre on most days.

Overall I would recommend this hotel, and would visit it again.

We found the staff very friendly and attentive. The hotel was very clean. Nice size pool within beautifully kept garden. We enjoyed the food and having the opportunity to try some local dishes. We would like to give a special mention to Ardian, who worked in the restaurant, he went out of his way to ensure we had an enjoyable dining experience.
We hired the hotel bikes (free of charge) and cycled to Arco which is along a flat safe route. We would recommend this to anyone as it is appropriate for cyclists of all levels or you could walk or catch a local bus to this lovely town.
We walked up to the Chapel of Santa Barbara and for this walk you need to be aware that it is quite mountainous and unsteady underfoot in places. Therefore, it is best to wear suitable footwear such as walking shoes or trainers.
The hotel is set in a fabulous location close to the lake and the walk to the town centre is relaxing with plenty of seats and also trees offering shade. The local bus service also excellent and very cheap- we caught a bus to the waterfalls for 1 euro each way per person.
We had a most enjoyable family holiday at the Savoy Palace hotel and would most definitely consider going back again.

We leave in the morning having stayed for 6 days. The attention to detail delivered by all staff was above our expectations and made our holiday one to remember. We especially liked the way the hotel was family run and each day the owner was on hand to check you were enjoying your stay and share your holiday experience with you. Also the reception and waiting staff deserve a special mention who delivered exceptional service and support helping recover our lost luggage from our previous hotel in Rome. Many thanks to all and we will return.

Room Tip: While it is not a significant issue I would avoid having a front facing room as the entertainment oc...

We arrived at the Savoy Palace in the early hours and were met by a very happy receptionist who booked us in and gave us our keys. In the morning we went to the dinning room for breakfast which was absolutely amazing - fresh fruit, cereals, breads, cheeses, meats, pastries and cooked breakfast too. The evening meals were fantastic - 3 courses plus a salad before and sometimes a chocolate fountain at the end. We chose our evening meal from a menu at breakfast every morning. The staff were so happy and friendly and always had time to speak to you wherever you met them in the hotel. The owner was always in the hotel and was also extremely friendly and welcoming. The themed evenings on the terrace were very good. Every evening there was music on the terrace. Our bedroom was light and spacious with a very good shower. The air conditioning in the bed room was very good as the temperature in the day was between 39 and 42. We also had a balcony which overlooked the mountains. There are two swimming pools at the hotel which were very popular - especially the outside one as the weather was so hot whilst we were there. The owner and staff of the Savoy Palace certainly helped to make our holiday such a success. We will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends and family.

Room Tip: Our room was on the 5th floor which was easily reached by lifts which were very efficient.

Booked through Riviera and arrived in time for a late dinner which was a set meal but very good. Breakfasts were excellent and plenty to keep you going for the day. At breakfast you choose what you want for evening dinner - waiter served choices with pasta, meat and fish for the two middle courses and an equally good choice of desserts. The first course is self service from the best buffet I have ever seen in many years of travelling worldwide. All hotel staff were very attentive and helpful if asked any questions. The owner is almost always present and talks to guests as friends. My only slight criticism would be the space in bedrooms. I was in a twin room on my own but if friends were to share the beds are very close together. Despite this the beds were very comfortable and bed linen and towels were good quality. Air conditioning was easily programmable and quiet at night.

Overall an excellent holiday and I would return and recommend Hotel Savoy Palace to friends and family. Thank you.
