“Good Choice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

Very enjoyable stay. Excellent food, both choice and quality. The staff are a real asset to this hotel - always friendly and helpful.
Room was large and clean with useable balcony.
I agree with other comments regarding the evening entertainment (although on one evening we were treated to a performance by the West Glamorgan Youth Orchestra who were excellent).
After dinner, I would recommend a walk along the lakeside path towards Riva town - lots of benches to sit and break the journey, lovely scenery, and a healthy option!
There is a very popular ice-cream parlor, Flora, on the main road near the hotel - try it at least once while you're here: deee- lish!
The hotel has Wi-Fi available. Just ask at reception for the password.
If returning to Riva, we would definitely stay here again.

This is a beautiful hotel situated on the North of the island of Lake Garda in the region of Riva. Riva is ideally located for anyone who would like to take part in watersports, or simply enjoy watching the windsurfers and sail boats. The Savoy palace is 4 star and definitely deserves the rating. It is beautifully clean, the restaurant is good with plenty of choice. We were impressed by the quality of food served, a huge salad buffet and selection of breads to start, followed by 4 courses. Staff are friendly and welcoming and easy to please. The hotel rooms are quite spacious with fridge and bathroom ( shower, wash basin, toilet and bidet). Only one disappointment, the wall mounted hairdryer is useless, make sure you take your own!). Downstairs there is a large bar and outdoor seating area serving all types of drinks and cocktails, this is open throughout the day, they also serve 'afternoon tea' between 4-5pm where you can order tea//coffee and a tray of cakes. There is a large poolside area with a nice poolside bar where you can order lunch and drinks. There is also a small indoor pool in the basement area of the hotel with jacuzzi.
The only evening entertainment provided was a pianist, although he was very good it would have been nice if they provided better entertainment. You could tell guests wanted to get up and dance or see a good vocalist, and the pianist wasn't really entertaining enough to satisfy those guests. We felt that if this one thing could be improved the hotel would be pretty faultless for guests, especially as in the surrounding area the are very few bars around providing any entertainment. The Savoy palace is definitely a hotel my family would return to and I would definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: There are some larger family apartments available.

a very clean and well positioned hotel, with friendly and helpful staff, the food is good although it can be a bit repetitive and the requirement to place your order for your evening meal at breakfast is not I feel personally ideal!.

The owner manager is on site which is comforting if there are any real problems.

At the time of booking I read trip advisor and although not clear it did seem that there were different graded rooms, when I checked this with the travel agent, I was told this was not the case and requested a lake view. On my arrival i was told that the hotel was full and they could not fulfil my request? It became quite clear that there are different grade rooms and these rooms are larger and have better facilities and views!

We went with another couple and it was quite clear that we had been given an adjoining children's room so that we could be close to our friends.

I would recommend the Savoy the rooms are clean but make sure you get clear clarification on what you booking and there are very few if any with a lake view.

Our week-long stay at the SAVOY PALACE hotel, Riva del Garda, was fantastic. The hotel facilities were excellent and the staff did a wonderful job in ensuring that our stay was perfect. The free afternoon tea/coffee with pastry daily between 4.00pm to 5.00pm was a particularly welcome service allowing one to recover from a hard day at the pool. The 4-course meals for those taking the half-board option were incredibly good value. On one occasion we arrived at 9.40pm after a long and tiring excursion to Venice. Even though the restaurant closed at 9.00pm, the staff remained at their post and served us our 4-course meal (including a half-litre of wine). For this, many thanks to Davide (chef), Danile (pastry chef), Fausto, and Gina – a hotel is only as good as the staff it employs, and at the Savoy Palace they employ the best.

We spent a week in The Savoy Palace Hotel in Riva del Garda, in late June 2013, on a trip with Riviera Travel and enjoyed every moment.
We had a family room, room 121 on the first floor, with a big double bed and a single as well. There was a large balcony with table, four chairs and two loungers and a beautiful view of the mountains.
The room had two nice chairs, plenty of wardrobe space, a large flat screen television, a fridge, a safe which was free, you just paid a €20 refundable deposit, and a telephone.
The bathroom was a reasonable size with a large sink, a bidet and a very good shower. The towels were of a good quality and two were provided for the pool. There were lots of toiletries provided as well as slippers. The hairdryer was pretty useless. Bathrobes were advertised online but none were provided. On checking with reception I was informed that if you booked the room yourself you would have a bathrobe provided but if you were part of a tour group you had to pay a €15 refundable deposit.
You have the same table in the dining room for the duration of your stay. The food was very good and as we have stayed in Italy a few times this has to be the best.
Breakfast had a full selection of fresh fruits, yoghurt, cheese and ham as well as cereal and eggs cooked to order and of course cakes. Their bacon is cooked ham grilled. There was too much there to mention it all.
Dinner was a five course affair with soup and salad courses self service then two main courses and dessert waiter served. The last three courses you pick from a list you are given at breakfast. There is a good selection of meat and fish each day and we even had rabbit on our last day. The food was Italian and delicious.
There is free tea, coffee and cakes every day at 4pm and at 5pm there is a happy hour in the bar but with limited choice. On several nights after dinner Mr Tonelli, the owner, served out free drinks on the terrace and there was live music in the dining room and on the terrace every night.
There is a beautiful garden with a swimming pool and ample sunbeds. The whole place has an air of friendliness that make you feel you want to stay longer and come back.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back have a great mountain view. At the front they have an obstructed lake view.

We have just returned from a wonderful week's holiday at the Savoy Palace, which we found to be very well run, with a lovely outdoor seating area, friendly atmosphere and excellent staff. The location is ideal, with a beautiful walk along the lake side into the centre of Riva taking about 20 minutes. The staff were efficient and cheerful, especially our main waitress, Patty while the reception staff were exceptionally helpful. We would love to return to Lake Garda and would stay in Riva again, which is a lovely place but also has a very welcome breeze. We would have no hesitation in staying at the Savoy Palace again next time!

Room Tip: Ask for a superior room which is more spacious and has a jacuzzi bath as well as a shower.

It is very rare, a hotel is both very personally and very professionally managed. Savoy Palace is! You feel welcome, you feel cared for and still everything is runned so smoothly. 200 guests check in / out on the same day, and you do not notice. 250 guests are served 3 courses menu, and the food is excellent. It is high season, and still you find space with no noise and guests, so
you can relax. Always a deck chair at the pool and so on.
We are a family of four and all of us enjoyed the stay very, very much!
