We stayed here for one week and had a fabulous holiday. Having failed to secure a booking through the escorted tour company we have used before, Thomsons came to the rescue. I was able to complete our booking and select excursions on line. Everything was efficiently organised from booking to in-resort support. The weather was exceptionally hot, even for the end of August (and for Italy), but the air-conditioning in our room and in all public areas was good. The restaurant was well appointed, with two gala dinners during our stay and a good choice of dishes each evening. Breakfast was self-service, but was of a high quality. The evening meal began with a self-service buffet and was followed by three courses which had been chosen earlier in the day. Our room was spotless, with sheets and pillow cases changed daily. Each room has a balcony, but only the premium rooms on the fifth floor seemed to have a lake view. Our room overlooked the terrrace and gardens and we had a mountain view, which was stunning. The only downside is the distance from the old part of Riva, but the Porto San Nicolo is about 150 metres from the hotel. We used public transport to get into the town centre. It costs one Euro each way and is well worth it. There is a pride taken by all concerned with this hotel, resonating with its family-run ethos.

This hotel has a great location - quiet but less than five minutes from the Lake shore, 20 mins walk along the Lake to the charming centre of Riva and close to anything you will need on a family holiday. The grounds and buildings are well kept , both the indoor and outdoor pools are excellent and the atmosphere is friendly but not intrusive. This is a professional Italian hotel run to the best standards of Italian hospitality.
We booked one week half board with some concern - what do we do if the food is poor ? We were delighted with the quality and variety of the food available at all meal times . You can experience a wealth of Italian dishes both local and national. If you do not like Italian food then don't book half board. There are plenty of restaurants within a short walk.
Reception staff are professional and helpful- English and German spoken. Problems were promptly and considerately dealt with. Bar staff ,with one exception, are just as one would expect in Italy - excellent. Drinks are well priced and the cocktails are worth a try.
Wifi throughout and its fast/ Computers also available - both free of charge
Bicycles available free of charge - try a cycle along the Lake
Car park available. Pools(indoor and outdoor) , jacuzzi, gym
Rooms typical wooden floors , mediocre furnishings, good ac , well serviced daily
Do not bother with a "superior" room - it just means a little larger and facing away from the sun.
Suggestion: Buy a day ticket €15.80 allowing you to use all ferries around the north of the lake and visit Limone (not to be missed), Malcesine and Torbole in a day. Ferry from Riva.
Day trip by coach to Verona is also very enjoyable.
Local blue buses can be used but the real public transport for tourist is the ferries.
Consider carefully before hiring a car - public transport is good , the roads are difficult and Italian drivers are....... well Italian.

The hotel was quite good - stayed here on a B&B basis. The hotel rooms were spotlessly clean. The rooms were a bit basic. My wife and i had a room with a lake view - certainly not worth paying for as half the view was blocked by a hotel in front of us. My daughter had a single room however this was sandwiched between two room that were set up as family rooms with crying babies in them - not much the hotel can do about this.

Breakfast is good, however the tables are allocated to people who are on a H/B basis. A waiter directs you to a table that the allocated people have finished with. one morning a waiter started giving out to us that we had sat down at someone elses table even though we had been directed there. THat is not acceptable,

The hotel pool area is good - plenty of sun beds and no issues getting ones.

The main issue i have with the hotel is it is a good 20 minutes walk to the edge of the old town for three fit people.

This is a lovely hotel. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The breakfasts are so tasty with a large variety of beautiful fruit, breads and English /Irish breakfast also. They catered very well for a gluten free diet. The bar entertainment was enjoyable and relaxed and very civilised. No lager louts! The resort is delightful and if you go you must go on a day tour of the lake ...heaven. Nice pool area and indoor pool which was almost always empty. The beds were a little hard.

We travelled mid August with Thomson (crystal tours) the flight times are not too good , leaving Glasgow at 6 am checking in at 4am----sleepyyyyy!!
Flying time is only 2 hours from Glasgow then another 2+ hours by coach to Riva !!
The food in hotel was good and food outside is expensive ---everywhere, we were half board.
Rooms are nice and clean and are with balcony , bathrooms are clean and adequate.
Bring along a kettle if you want tea or coffe in our room--none provided.
Forget any trips to Venice---its just a tourist trap and very expensive----there are some 50,000 visitors there every day!!
The hotel provides cake and coffee free every day at 4 pm----nice touch !!
Cycles are everywhere ,pavement, roads, hotels, all over ---a pedestrians nightmare !!
The place is beautiful----where on earth do they get the money for it all-----hello !!---EU !!
Take a brolly with you as it can rain now and then, the lake is mobbed every day -all day, but nice to just sit and people watch-.
Trips on the lake are very easy and cost about £18 per person ---depends on where you wish to go.
You pay a £20 deposit for your room safe key-which is returnable.
Nice walks to everywhere--but the cycles !!!!!!
Dogs are allowed in hotel-----is this a good idea ??--never saw many though
Its well worth a visit.
Internet in hotel is free---if, you can get kids off facebook to view your emails !

I have just returned today from the Savoy Palace, whilst I have eaten in many 5 star hotels, the food here can not be bettered . I stayed here two years ago and the food was good then but was even better this year! The Staff are very warm and accommodating, and the owner is there every night making sure that things are running ok and getting peoples opinions. Everywhere is kept clean. The hotel is a good 20 min walk along the lake side to the centre of Riva. The only downside is the same music from the man on the keyboard every night. On the whole good value for money.

We have just come back after spending 7 great nights at the Savoy Palace, the staff were very friendly and helpful, including the reception staff who were happy to help throughout our stay. Our room had wonderful views of the mountains, also included was a mini bar and a powerful shower. The pool was a nice size and jaccuzi was a bonus !

We went B&B with the breakfast top notch ! We also had dinner one night which was really tasty and great value (15E per person for 4 courses).

There is lot's to do around the area - Cycling (free hire from hotel), watersports and plenty of nice walks, suggest the walk to Trobole - lovely views. There are plenty of restaurants and shops within a 2mins walk from the hotel. Riva Del Garda centre is a 20mins walk along the lake which has many restuarants and shops. We would also reccomend the AMAZING FLORA ice cream shop near the hotel.....just brilliant !

Only other point on the hotel is that they have free tea and cakes in the afternoon, and free WIFI that is fast and very reliable.
