“A Real Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2011

We spent five nights at this hotel in June 2011. Great location in the historic section of Riva within walking distance of the lake. The owner and staff were friendly and very helpful. Lovely hotel grounds and pool area, a nice place to relax. Parking is free. A high standard of food in the hotel restaurant. Good value for money.
Our room was comfortable but small and the bathroom was tiny. It would be worthwhile booking a superior room.
We really enjoyed our stay here.

Room Tip: Book a room with a view of the lake.

My wife and I stayed for a week at this hotel, organised through Citalia.
We are in our sixties and I am disabled but moderately mobile.
This is a superb family-run hotel of some 20+ rooms. It has a VERY well stocked bar, a Terrace and a beautiful garden.
The welcome was excellent and we were shown to our room, which whilst not excessively large, was more than adequate. We were on the first floor - there is a lift. The room had a double bed, one easy chair, wardrobe and bedside tables. It had a small TV which only showed three channels - a French, a German and BBC World news - we would have appreciated satellite TV (but maybe it is not available here). The bathroom was very small - shower only - but served its purpose. There were patio doors opening onto a small balcony - just room for two chairs, The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean.
The Bar had large sliding windows so that when warm enough the bar extends onto the Terrace. The barman learned our usual drinks and our room number very quickly and was helpful, courteous and knowledgeable at all times.
The hotel has a restaurant attached (it seems to trade under another name) which also utilises the hotel's garden and barbecue. We found this restaurant to be quite expensive and with a limited menu so we ate in the town of Riva every evening.
The centre of Riva is a 10 minute walk away and is packed with restaurants and cafes. You could eat in a different restaurant every night for a month. The hotel is situated at the top of a hill but this didn't seem to worry any one else but myself, so it couldn't have been that steep!
The hotel was moderately full when we were there but there seemed to be plenty of space in the bar, terrace and gardens.
There is a good sized swimming pool with surrounding sunbeds.
All the public areas were as spotlessly clean as our room.
Thinking about this entry I and my wife wondered if there was anything to criticise - the answer is no, not a thing !
If you stay here, I am sure you will be as delighted as we were.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room.

The Miravalle is a very clean and smart hotel, with a lovely pool/terrace area for breakfast/drinks. Overall it has the feel of better than its 3 stars. It has an excellent location just off the main square/street in Riva. On the rate we had (£100/night) you would have to say this hotel is good value.

One caveat: we were upgraded to a 'superior' room (#112) which seemed like a lucky break and the the room was certainly very large but was situated at the rear and on the 1st floor so rather noisy and had a limited view of the mountains behind the hotel. Unfortunately there was some construction work going on at an adjacent property. Also, the restaurant was just below our balcony and the staff were very noisy at various points during the day while working or during (frequent) cigarette breaks.

Room Tip: Go high and lake-facing

My husband and I went to Italy for our honeymoon, Lake Garda then Sorrento. Hotel Villa Miravalle in Lake Garda is a family run hotel and was perfect. The room was large with amazing views, the staff were so friendly and helpful, the overall atmosphere was perfect for us, even though this hotel is 3 star we both agree it should be 4, the rooms were cleaned everyday, the beds were very comfy and the restaurant is lovely, we would recommend eating here at some point. The bathrooms are small and nothing fancy but they are clean and really all you need. The hotel is only a short walk away from all the restaurants, shops and lake which is amazing. We will certainly be returning to Lake Garda and staying in Hotel Villa Miravalle!!!

I just spent 9 wonderful days in Riva del Garda. My stay at the Hotel Villa Miravalle was delightful. The staff were very pleasant, the food was first rate and the cost was very reasonable. My room was clean and quite and the service excellant. This is my second stay at the Miravalle and I definately plan on going back. The Hotel is close( 5 minute walk) to the lake, shopping and, restaurants.

The hotel markets itself as 'home away from home,' which it certainly was. Although the reception staff were quietly discreet, they were still helfpul and welcoming when around. We found our bedroom to be immaculately clean, very comfortable beds and clean linen. The bathroom was simple, but very clean with a good shower.

Located in a very convenient area - just two minutes walk from the historic centre of town and the Lake, the hotel is situated in a very peaceful setting. The peal of church bells from various church towers was the only sound, which was comforting, rather than disturbing. The hotel breakfast was very impressive - a good selection of cereal and muesli, yoghur and fruit, but also egg and bacon, cheese and ham and pastries if that was your preferance.

We ate in the hotel restaurant on our last evening, which was thorougly enjoyable. A very good wine list, exceptional service and absolutely top rate food. We were very surprised by the value for money at the hotel, not only for the meal in the restaurant, but the general stay. There was free internet and a lovely bar for an evening prosecco. Although the weather wasn't warm enough to use the pool, it appeared to be well maintained and not overlooked. A pretty outside area to have breakfast in the mornings, as well as sofas inside to have a drink, or read a book added to the relaxed and homely feel of the hotel.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Welcome to Villa Miravalle, My name is Michele Marchi Vidi, and I am the owner of the Hotel Villa Miravalle. It is with great pleasure that I recount the centuries-old tradition of this hotel, which for four generations has been managed by my family, having been created in the early 1900s by my great-grandparents. Time has not eroded the antique fascination of the late nineteenth-century villa nor the enchanting beauty of the gardens, with their centuries-old palms and olive trees, or the elegant comfort of the spacious terrace dotted with citrus trees and climbing plants in a variety of hues. The imposing building nestles undisturbed among the ancient medieval walls which surround the historic centre of Riva del Garda, giving splendid views of the placid waters of the lake, known in ancient times as Lake Benaco. A similar spell is cast by the works of Aldo Raimondi, a distinguished painter who was a regular visitor to the Villa during the 1940s. His works are displayed in the Hall of the Hotel, and document many of the aspects of life in the Villa, and offer glimpses of the building from different perspectives. The long history of the Villa goes hand in hand with another splendid moment: the opening of the Villetta Annessa restaurant, which was modelled on the famous "Girarrosto" restaurant which in the 1960s was awarded a Michelin star. The recent renovation of the Villa underlines a passion that has never abated and a strong desire to create an atmosphere of serenity in which guests can enjoy the familiar smells of meat grilling in the enormous fireplace and the delicate scents of the flowers wafting in from the gardens. The Hotel is close to a number of sporting facilities in the Basso Sarca valley for the delight of cyclists, climbers and other sporting enthusiasts. The Villa has its own vital energy, and its long history and unique atmosphere are jealously guarded as if in a casket, which we will be delighted to open for our guests so that they can add their own memories. I hope to see you soon! Michele ... more   less
