Lido Palace is a really remarkable place, very comfortable and unique, central to Riva and close to some beautiful country side.
The purpose of my visit was a short business trip ( only 1 night ) in a small town, Tione, 20 kilometers away from this very quaint little town, Riva del Garda, placed in the North of Lake of Garda. So I was looking for an hotel with Spa and Gym in the area, and by chance I came across to this very unique gem
I booked the room just the previous night and I got a quite good fare considering the level of the hotel ( it was a slack season). Parking and access to the Spa and fitness center are free. Furthermore a relaiable free high speed wifi is available in any premises of the Hotel.
The Spa is great and a real experience hard to find in other hotels. The swimming pool is great as well but I did not have time for that.
This amazing historical Habsburg Grand hotel (dated back to the end of 19* Century) has had a marvelous facelift few years ago. Compliments to the ownership of the hotel and its bold Architect The outcome is a very confortable and contemporary design Hotel., with spacious hall, restaurant and rooms ( I think they have only thirty or so).
Just besides the hotel there is the new restaurant with its futuristic design capable to integrates in innovative way
with the serious Habsburg architecture of the old hotel. The restaurant is encapsulated within a shell with long geometrical shape and with one side completely trasparent allowing the guests to enjoy an amazing view on the garden on the lake and on the mountain. The restaurant is not only an intresting and bold piece of architecture but is one the best I have ever visited. My wife and I have chosen 4 different dishes and each of one was really an experience. Every combination original, intriguing and delitious, of course inspired by the italian cooking, but only imspired. Price high but reasonable for the quality of food.
Also the breakfast was great with a great variety of fresh food and while you sip your expresso coffee or you orange squash , you get to blink with sleepy eyes at the shimmering lake, or at the small church isolated down the front hill covered with snow.
The Staff of the hotel, the Spa, and the restaurant could not do enough for us.

A gem in the gem. Yes not only the hotel was amazing, but even the historical small town of Riva del Garda and its country side are amazing, very well kept and tidy. This area is a kind of Tiroler plunged into the Italian atmoshere. In fact after being ruled by the Republic of Venice, as consequence of the Treaty of Vienna (1815) all this area has been part of the Habsburg Empire till the of the World War 1 (1918).
Unfotunately the weather was not so nice (december in north of Italy, just at the begining of the Alps), but wandering in Riva del Garda you quickly realize from the structure of the Hotels that this place has well established international touristic tradition, that dates back to the 19 century. I discovered that figures like Thomas Mann, Frederick Nietzsche and David Herbert.Lawrence had spent some time here.
I discovered also that this a good place for or sailing, windsurfing, rock climbing and mountain biking
In conclusion It has been is a great privilege to be host of this luxuary and intresting five star hotel. We will definitely return maybe with our mountain bikes with the desire to visit this fabolous restaurant once again and with much more time as this spot really deserves

We have just returned from a 4 night break over the new year and found the hotel excellent in all respects. We have stayed at many luxury resorts which claim to hold 5 stars and have now finally found a hotel which truly deserves the recognition. Service was second to none and the hotel design is the work of an amazing architect / designer who has mixed modern design and furniture in a building with all it's original features retained. Final words must be given to the spa which will match any spa in the world

Room Tip: Should keep it a secret for when we return but room 109 has the largest roof terrace and most amazin...

Went for our honeymoon, everything was excellent, the room, the restaurant, the location. Want to go back but apparently I'm not allowed because it could never be as good!

Only down side was the random stragglers who seemed to come off of the boulevard to use the pool as the front gate was left wide open! don't know if this was to attract people in to buy drinks, but made to pool area feel a little exposed, but never seemed to be a problem.

definitely go if you can afford it (not cheap!)

A great friend of mine has booked a table for a nice evening at the restaurant of this hotel. We order an apperative and to compliment we were given very good finger food. The service and food was very good. The head waiter explained in detail the food and wine. We eat facing the nice view of Lake Garda and the mountain.

We visited for three days for our silver wedding anniversary. From the moment we entered the hotel we knew it was special. Our car keys were whisked away and we were given a personal tour of the hotel by the receptionist which ended in our suite with a stunning view of the lake. Everything was calm efficient and personal and the welcome flowers and champagne in the room was a lovely touch.

All staff were friendly and courteous and the spa experience was relaxing. The outdoor dining and seating gave great views and everything was peaceful and relaxing. If we had to make a word of criticism the indoor lounge areas are not very intimate and consist of long sofas that wouldn't be out of place in a waiting room or airport. The hotel is mainly for couples so small soft sofas in intimate areas would make it a more comfortable place to sit while listening to the superb Elton John style piano playing and singing.

Overall thoroughly recommended.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
In a spectacular location on the northern edge of picturesque Lake Garda, Lido Palace is a stunning Belle Époque building, set within 19th-century gardens filled with fragrant cypress, cedar and magnolia trees. Recently renovated, the Liberty Style palace impresses with contemporary interior design which epitomizes chic modernity. The rooms - almost a symbiosis of light, nature and elegant interior design - are modern, wide and bright spaces taking advantage of the contrast between the minimal style of the interiors and the romantic view on Lake Garda. The 1,500sq m spa offers a collection of globetrotting treatments, including a Finnish sauna, Mediterranean bath, Indian massages and Native American stone treatments. Its guests are invited to enjoy the serenity in an elegant setting tasting savory meals by Chef Giuseppe Sestito. Tremani is the hotel's more laid-back lunchtime eatery offering healthy imaginative meals. For intimate evening meals, Il Re della Busa is decadent and distinguished, with exquisitely rendered morsels of haute cuisine in sleek designer surroundings and backlit views of the grounds. The restaurant overlooks the gardens, which are a mix of manicured lawns and forested foothills, grab a seat by the window to gaze upon them as you eat. If it's a balmy night, get a table on the balcony deck. Fine-dining chefs are usually fiercely protective of their recipes, but chef Giuseppe Sestito will happily share some of the secrets to his creations. ... more   less
