We stayed here for a brief overnight stop on the way to ski in madonna di campiglio.

We both know the area quite well having sailed and visited here previously - however still couldnt work out how to drive to the front door without breaking several traffic rules! (Still no fines through the door yet so fingers crossed!).

We checked in late and the staff directed us vaguely to some parking (although told us the wrong times, which could have gotten us another fine!).

The rooms were ok, would probably have expected more from a 4 star hotel. It looks like they are in the process of renovating the rooms, but have started with the bathrooms. Bathrooms are great (providing you dont want sound proof bathrooms!).

We had four days at this hotel and enjoyed it for most of the time. The hotel, outlook, surroundings and interior designs are lovely. The food was of a good standard and choice was excellent. The only downside was the barmaid, she was rude and unapproachable. We were with a coach party (National Holidays who were very professional) on all inclusive from 8 pm - 11 pm, but we never got down to the bar after dinner before 8.30. When we did the barmaid was very rude, she ignored us if a "paying" guest came and served them first. On the first night they ran out of rose wine and lemonade, which were never replenished for the duration of our trip (although you could buy it from the restaurant).

glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at our hotel most of the time – we will also pass your praise for the cuisine on to the cooks. We are very sorry for the bad behaviour of one of our employees. We passed your feedback on to her and we can guarantee you that such a situation will never occur again. If you decide to return another time eventually, we will absolutely make that bad experience up to you.

I would first like to say a great thank you to the 2 coach drivers from National holidays Dave & Mac who are a great asset to National Holidays.
The Hotel Grand Riva is in a fantastic position on the edge of the lake, great views from the balcony on the 5th floor.
We arrived quite late our rooms were ready,we had a room on the 2nd floor overlooking the marina check-in was plesent on Monday night.
Breakfast on Tuesday morning was very good hot food also cold meat /cheese etc
The morning breakfast and the evening meal's were very good, the staff in the resturant were ok but needed a lesson on how to smile!
there was an all-inclusive bar for 3 nights that included wine's and beer also soft drinks.
The lady that served in the all inclusive bar was the most arrogant/rude person I have come across it was made very clear that she did not like english people.
When she served drinks she seemed to pick who she wanted to serve first I even asked in broken Italian if she could speak English in an abrupt reply (NO).
But about 5 minutes later she was at the reception speaking very good english to somebody else.
One night she could not change the beer keg a member of the coach party did this for her, even this did not crack a smile, on the first night they run out of rose wine this was not replaced during the holiday, and this being a 4 star hotel
The free bar was from 8pm to 11pm after that time she would not let you pay for drinks saying the bar was closed, but one night at around 11-10 pm 2 Italian ladies were allowed to hhave 2 glasses of red wine and they could pay!!.
I don't like using the (R) word but the bar person i feel was a little bit racist towards the engish .
Everybody on the coach trip could not understand how a person could be so RUDE we were told that she was one of the owners of the hotel, if that is so she needs to go on a course for diversity/customer service etc
Apart form her , the hotel in general was very good

Room tip: Room at front of hotel have views over the lake

- Good location
- 1.5 km walk from car park
- 2 Star room with squeaky beds, room was below kitchen, so late night and early morning noise
- Bad service with untrained staff
- Waiters treats guests as if they are doing you a favor...
- Was suppose to stay for 4 nights left after first night
- Rooms advertised on internet are not reality
