Description: In addition to the San Marco gate, the gateway to the historic center, just steps from the lake, a building of six hundred houses the restaurant Al Volt. Run by the Poli family since 1965, owes its name to the times that frame the entire room. Miriam and Sylviane will be glad to accompany between red and white, the soft light of the bedside lamp and candles, among the reflections of the mirrors. From the kitchen you can taste traditional dishes, a mix balanced between lake and land a modern twist by Maurizio and Tonina.

“Mr Bean's über-obsequious brother was an Italian sommelier at Al Volt”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

We liked the fussy decor and the odd plates and the attempts at retro - some work some don't. However, beyond the hugely entertaining OCD sommelier who kept us giggling all evening the food was excellent. Service attentive and professional despite the restaurant being very busy - and this is February. We were suprised to be presented with four freshly cooked hot sugary do-nuts after our desserts and the trademark brownies. We didn't really have room for them - but it would have been rude not to. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Unreservedly recommended.

“Personal, old school restaurant. A food hug.”
Reviewed August 11, 2012

A rather citchy mix of latin femininity and antique style inside can be hard on the the less-is-more-inspired eye. But is is personal, and doesn't change. Fashion will, as we know. Tentative staff, classic italian home made food makes this my favorite after dining at Il Re del Buro, at the Lido Palace.

“They need to do things better”
Reviewed August 3, 2012

Interior decoration is a bad mix of styles and the result is a "too much of everything"; on the table there was an exaggeration of silverware, glasses, plates etc. with no space left. Menu was OK but the translation sometimes was not correct. Waiter and owner were talking over us insisting tat we ordered what they had in mind. Food was just average: a lot of complicated stuff without an identified taste; the only exception was the gelato dessert, which is really really good. Prices in the upper range.
Conclusion: a pretentious restaurant not worth the time we spent there except for the dessert

“All round top class restaurant”
Reviewed July 17, 2012

We had an excellent meal and service with a high standard in all courses, the final sorbet was a master piece with at least ten fruits or nuts stuffed with an appropriate sorbet. There is an extensive wine list and I enjoyed the ambience of red and white others may not. If you are in Riva del Garda and like fine dinning don't miss Al Volt it can hold its own with many London restaurants.
