Reviewed July 18, 2010

Stayed at this hotel for 9 nights, we were the only english staying here and in the whole resort i think ! the hotel picked us up from the station and offered us a well needed drink. we had a lovley clean comfortable room with a sea view. the resturent offered lovley tasty food every evening and the fish and pasta were the best i have eaten. The breakfast was nice but i missed bacon and eggs (but thats just a english thing ) our waiter Fabio really looked after us and spoke very good english as did the rest of the staff at the hotel, nothing was ever to much trouble for them. The pool area and hot tub were much needed after a day out sight seeing. this hotel does cater for famiies so be prepaired for lots of children if like us you dont have any. i will recommend this hotel and will be returning.

Have recently returned from staying for a week at Hotel Select for a family wedding. The staff at select are fantastic even when having to put up with our unruly 3 year old and his tantrums during dinner, nothing was too much trouble for them. The rooms are pleasant, the swimming pool lovely and the food was outstanding! The wedding breakfast was held at the hotel whcih was stylishly decorated and the food was exceptional. The resort of riccione is lovely, the beach very nice and catered very well for children. The acqua park is definitely worth a visit . I would not hesitate to recommend this family friendly run hotel.

General
We stayed at 'Hotel Select' from June 6th to June 16th 2010.
We married in Rimini Town Hall and had our Wedding reception at the Hotel Select afterwards.

Wedding Organisation
We communicated with the hotel Select via email about arranging our wedding reception at the Hotel several months before. We arranged the documentation requirements with the British Consulate in Florence and the hotel arranged all the necessary communication with Rimini Town Hall.
We cannot thank Gloria Zannoni from the hotel Select enough for all the organisation she did for us to make our wedding a fabulous, faultless day! The weather was glorious also, so ourselves, family and friends could not have wished for more.
There were 19 of us in total, including 5 children.
Gloria arranged everything we required, including wedding car, mini bus, flowers, make up & hair, wedding menu's, table colours decor, bomboniere etc etc, including all the associated costings for each.

Wedding day
Without going into too much detail the wedding day from start to finnish was brilliant. As i've already said, we could not have wished for more.
The photographs were fantastic. (I have posted a few on here).
We had our reception outside in the pool/garden terrace area. Large Umbrella canopies protected us form the 100 degree heat.
The wedding reception food was excellently presented and simply delicious. There was so much of it. We thank 'Michele', the chef for an outstanding 7- course wedding meal. We thank all the staff and Leardini family for a truely memorable day, including Gloria, Giavanni, Antonio, Rey, Piero, Serena, Sabrina Gabriele and Cristian.

Hotel Service.
The management and staff were truely superb during the whole of our stay. Nothing was too much trouble, including cleaning up after our messy 2 year daughter at meal times.
The hotel is very family friendly and the kids entertainment staff did their very best to welcome our children to join in the games etc. (even tho' there was a language barrier).
The hotel pick you up and drop you off from Rimini airport with their complimentary minibus service.

Rooms
Our family room was a good size with a nice view over the pool/garden terrace.
We stayed half board, which included breakfast, dinner and open bar drinks during our stay. Rooms were spotlessly clean with fresh towels provided every day.

Food
Breakfast provided a good start to the day and was continental buffet style with plenty of cereals, ham, cheese, pastries, toast, boiled eggs, yogurts, fresh fruit, juices, coffee and tea.
Evening meals were very tasty indeed, also buffet style with a wide selection of salads, vegetables, soup, pastas, main fish and meat dishes. A delicious selection of home-made deserts, fruit salad, fruit and ice-creams. The house red and white wines were very good.

Beach
Our room tariff included 2 sun loungers and umbrella OR Canopy. The beaches are labelled in numbered sections for the hotels. (Number 60, Geogio's for hotel Select) and you get allocated the same loungers for your stay. It is very well structured and the beaches spotless. There is a free kids play area, slides, swings etc., with free buckets and spades etc. The entertainment staff also supervise the kids play area.

Riccione Area
The area is mainly an Italian resort and is spotlessly clean. The people are really friendly. If you like designer handbags and shoes there are are plenty of shops to browse. Better bring your Credit Cards with you tho'.
There are plenty of places to eat and the ice-cream is Belissimo!!!!!!
We went to the AquaFan water park (the biggest in Europe). It was only 15 minutes drive and the hotel dropped us off and picked us up. The water park was brilliant. Lots for the adults and kids to do. Lots of good water slides.
Usually 25Euro/Adult but hotel provided tickets for 18Euros.

Weather
We were fortunate to have 9 out of 10 glorious days, 90 degreeF plus. It only rained the day before leaving, which was preparing us for our flight back to the UK.

Flights
Unfortunately, only Ryanair fly to Rimini from Liverpool. We had to book an Extra Seat for my wedding dress going out there (as they have no storage facilities on board). The only positive things I could mention about the flights were they are less than 3 hrs duration and both flights were ahead of schedule.

CONCLUSION
We all had a fabulous time during our stay at 'Hotel Select'.
The Wedding day was fantastic. The Hotel staff were superb.
We would like to return to the Hotel Select for our anniversary next year and look forward
to using the new Wellness/Spa area when it is finnished.
Again a big thank you to Gloria, all the hotel staff and the Leardini family for a memorable stay.
Hope to see you soon.

Warm and friendly staff - your are not just one of thousands of guests. Very personal and familiar contact.
Very stylish and nice renovated places like the restaurant, the garden with the new pool, and also the area around the bar. Not all rooms are new renovated, but the old rooms are nice at well - just an elderly style.
The kitchen was great.
We look forward to visit the hotel select again!

Stayed at the hotel for a quite break at Whitsun. The staff at the hotel are the friendliest you could ever want to meet. Their english was very good and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel picked us up and returned us to the airport with their own minibus. As this was our first time in the area it was reasuring to be met without the worry of getting a taxi or service bus. The hotel had its own section of beach although the cost of the sunbeds was not included in our package and if you go for a week the cost could add up. Bikes are free and with the area so flat good exercise. The hotel is very family friendly and during our stay lots of babies and small children were there. Breakfast was continental but a great selection of cereals, friut, cold meats etc and choice of coffees. Thanks to Giovanni the night manager, who chatted and served us untill the early hours, and we will return and get to San Marino.

We stayed in Hotel Select from 23-30 May 2010 in Room 36.

We had a good-sized room with a large king-size bed and a balcony, overlooking the side street, although we didn’t have an amazing view. However, at the end of our corridor there was a small, sea-facing communal balcony. The room came with a small, free safety deposit box, mini-bar fridge, hanging space for clothes (bring some extra hangers with you), Sky TV (pay for movies) with a DVD player, separate shower-room and free WiFi (the WiFi was excellent – ask reception for an access card; one code will cover your stay). The balcony doors were double-glazed with a shutter, which cut out almost all street noise.

We booked this stay ourselves through an internet booking agency. Ryanair decided to change our flight by a whole day but the hotel staff could not have been more helpful by confirming our change of booking by e-mail.

We were provided with a free transfer from and back to the airport using their minibus. We also asked reception about buses to the railway station and a member of staff gave us a lift in their car. Overall, the hotel staff were excellent, friendly and happy to assist.

About the only things we could fault were the lack of a welcome pack introducing the hotel’s facilities and the air con was not working, so it was rather warm. No kettle, so take your own and tea/coffee. Unfortunately, work was going on to improve the seafront walkway just at the time of our stay. Check-out was a little early we thought at 10 a.m. The hotel is building a wellness facility, pool, massages, etc., which should be open soon.

Breakfast was a well-stocked cold buffet, which was very fresh and tasty, and a range of coffee and tea was on offer. We ate at the hotel twice in the evening, again a well-stocked buffet meal, for 15 euros per head, which is good value in relation to the local restaurants, we knew the price thanks to other TripAdvisor reviews! There are also free apples at reception.

We used the small outdoor pool area on several days – it is a real sun trap with twelve sun beds: we never had a problem finding a bed. The sun beds are the wooden slatted type so our advice is to bring a blow-up air bed to lie on otherwise they look a little uncomfortable. There are no umbrellas and little shade, but the hotel provides free rain umbrellas, which we used for shade. The pool is small, about eight metres long and has clear, warm water. There is also a heated jacuzzi. Reception provides free pool towels. Music is played at the pool. There is a bar near reception/the pool, but we could not see a tariff. We didn’t use the beach, but we believe it costs 10 euros per person per day and the Beach Zones look well maintained.

The hotel is located very near the sea front by bus stop 52 and Beach Zone 60. There are typical tourist shops near the hotel (turn right from reception then first left) and a fairly large supermarket called Abissinia about a ten-minute walk away near the P. Le Marinai D’Italia roundabout (Beach Zone 48). We didn’t find many restaurants near the hotel. The main ‘strip’ is at Viale Ceccarini, about a ten-minute walk away in the other direction, at Beach Zone 77, but you may find yourself doing more window shopping than real shopping unless you can afford Armani! There is also a pretty port area at Beach Zone 90.

The railway station is a fifteen-minute walk away and we had a day trip to Bologna (about 16 euros return). We also had a couple of trips on the local buses to Rimini, more lively than Riccione, and to Cattolica (both 3 euros return although we found out after that books of bus tickets work out cheaper). There is a street market in Rimini every Wednesday and Saturday.

We had a really pleasant stay and would recommend this hotel.
