“only the locals were here!”
Reviewed November 12, 2011

this restaurant features the traditional boiled meat ,a huge selection of which are wheeled to your table.....no idea what was in some of the sausages but they were sublime! The decor is simple almost spartan but one could not go away hungry. The atmosphere is frendly and one visits with the folks at neighboring tables .

“Atmosphere and great local food”
Reviewed October 29, 2011

Just a short walk from our hotel the Mecure Astoria brought us into the local life of Reggio Emilia. Don't be fooled by the modest front entrance this is no whole in the wall. Great english speaking staff and fantastic local cuisine make a memorable evening. Americans - you go to the cash register when you are finished, no one will hurry you out the door.

“old fashion restaurant, always in fashion!”
Reviewed July 29, 2011

marvellous antique cuisine: the most beatiful "carrello dei bolliti" ever seen with tipical sauces or fruit "mostardas". Splendid choice of Lambrusco Wine. Good ratio Price/Quality.

“Arrived early for lunch at 12.30 on a...”
Reviewed September 3, 2010

Arrived early for lunch at 12.30 on a Friday and were the first people there. By the time we left it was buzzing with locals! Don't expect fine dining service, but it was very lovely table settings and a fantastic atmosphere with the locals. Waitress didn't really speak English but was very patient and helpful. The pumpkin filled pasta was *wonderful*.. So sweet, just like Aussie pumpkins back home! (not those tasteless English ones) Tagiatelle ragu was also quite good. Complimentary starter of parmesan chunks and mortadella was a lovely touch and extremely tasty!! Very lovely meal indeed. Would certainly recommend, especially as a place that locals love too. Good for couples, business, but also a family atmosphere :)

“Very Local - beware of food overload!”
Reviewed July 8, 2010

On a week night the restaurant was full of locals - no English spoken here. Antipasta was good. Seems the only main course is a selection from the 'trolley' of either boiled or roasted meats - all over cooked. Very large servings so beware!
