We stayed here in a villa on the second floor with our child and mother in law. My sister-in-law, her husband and baby all stayed in a second villa downstairs. I would say it was one of the most enjoyable places we stayed in Italy on our month long tour of the North. The Oliveta (olive orchard) was beautiful and the place was sparkly clean. The welcome dinner was really fun too.
We made our own breakfast and dinner a few times.
I would say that I agree with some other reviewers: They need to provide basics, olive oil, S&P, even espresso/tea and sugar if you ask me. It's a pain to not have some of those items. They do tell you in their confirmation that stores are CLOSED on Sunday... that's Italy... and offer a service for a market run, a free service I might add. So over all, just know that nothing is super perfect but I would consider this place close.

Room Tip: Take the market service to provide yourself with basic essentials (cheese, bread, milk, eggs, coffee...

We left Manchester in glorious sunshine and arrived at Pisa in heavy rain. We arrived at Fattoria la Torre early on Sunday afternoon, and were met by Sabine, who is very nice.

It was our fault entirely but we hadn't realised that no shops or supermarkets opened on Sunday afternoon, and we had nothing in, and the welcome packs we had had subsequent locations were not available here. We did have a beer on Sabine which was nice and went out for a meal in the evening. Sabine suggested that we join the B&B guests for breakfast the next morning.

Sabine switched our fridge on but we later found that this wasn't working.

I checked out the pool (not that we would have used it yet given the weather), and it was extremely filthy. (I should say that it was cleaned out over the next couple of days and was fine thereafter)

That evening was unseasonably cold. The bed had only a sheet and bedspread, and one very thin pillow each, so we had a very miserable night. There was a blanket box but this was empty.

We also noticed that no wine glasses ( or glasses of any kind) were provided in the apartment, and considering our intention to sample the Chianti wine produced not far from here, we were by now very disappointed.

We found out that Wi Fi is available, but only from where the B&B accommodation is, which is a couple of hundred metres away from the apartments (not far in the sunshine but a long way in the rain).

The next morning we had a fairly average breakfast (coffee was served from a thermos flask and by the time we arrived was luke warm).

We requested additional or bigger pillows, and glasses, and reported that the fridge wasn't working. We got replacement pillows and glasses very quickly but the fridge wasn't attended to.

Having been to the supermarket we came back looking forward to a cup of coffee, but found we had no means to light the gas hob as the igniter didn't work. There was no kettle, and I hadn't noticed that one of the hobs was electric, nor had I found at that time an igniter in one of the draws.

Fortunately we were able to get help from one of the cleaning staff, who also took on board the fact that the fridge wasn't working, and someone later came along to fix it (a charming young man from Rumania).

By the following day, the sun had come out, we had pillows and glasses, the ability to heat water, albeit in a saucepan, the fridge was working, and the pool was spotlessly clean. From then on we were able to enjoy the fine views that are available from here.

The apartment itself was fine - very dark in the living area but this is not unusual for such an old building. The bedroom was large and the bed comfortable, once the temperature was back to normal.

This has the potential to be a very nice place, but in order to provide a higher level of satisfaction, the owners need to pay more attention to detail.

We been in Fattoria la Torre in September 2012, the last week.
The welcoming of Sabine is faboulous, it makes us feel immediately at home. The apartments are as showed on their website. Excellent communications via the web with Martin, fast and straightforward.
The farm is located on a hill just above the village of Reggello, and the view, as described by
others is enchanting. We also had the luck to find beautiful weather and warm, so we took advantage of the swimming pool, located on a natural terrace of olive trees.
Reggello has everything you need, to point: a great bar / pub, cafe de Foffa, which has the best cakes I've eaten in my life (the profitterol is magic).
You should also visit the two restaurants / pizzeria opposite the oldest and beautiful church of Cascia, great food, great hospitality and reasonable prices.

A car or motorcycle is required to enjoy all the country
Will definitely come back for another short break!

This was my fourth visit to Fattoria La Torre - I have seen alot of improvements since my first visit in 2001. This visit was to celebrate my friends 'landmark' birthday. We stayed in the Villa Appartment. I booked a meal on arrival which was really nice, a bottle of house white come to €20 pp. We really enjoyed our stay and I took my friends on trips to Florrence, Siena and Greve in Chianti, Figline and San Giovanni. The villa is close to Figline which has a train service to nearby cities. Finally the view from our villa was just stunning, difficult to capture by camera. The seimming pool is located on the sloping hills overlooking Reggello - just stunning. In relation to the accommodation, I would like to compliment and suggest some improvements. The 2 bedroomed/1 bathroom appartment was nicely decorated, plenty of space and we had our own balcony which we spent most evening just enjoying the view with a bottle of Chianti Classico!. Sabine was always prompt with any requests and made our stay complete. Some points for improvement - check the inventory in each appartment, cutlery and glassware were scarce in our appartment. Also the one bedroomed appartment (below ours) has it's bedroom door onto our balcony. This was most inconvenient as it meant we had to whisper after a certain time or else take our drinks indoor - not a great plan. We both drove and walked down to the village, unfortunately my usual bar/restaurant was closeed due to a bereavement, but I have eaten on many occasion in the Pizzeria in Cascia which is in our opinion the best place to eat during your stay - their food is just excellent. The fish restaurant (beside the church is just okay), expensive and did not have the same quality food. I would have no hesitation in returning to this villa, however, I would prefer the two bedroomed on the ground level (only because of the plan of the 1 bedroomed appartment)

Room Tip: If booking a two bedroomed appt, ask for the floor level one - which also has its own garden.

We booked an apartment that was not listed on the website, named Girasole, at the last minute. The booking via Martin and arrival with Sabine, were easy and friendly. Overall, our experience was enjoyable and positive, with a few points for potential improvement, but first the positives:
-The evening meal was good value for money at 20€, including a bottle of local wine, and providing a good introduction to local cuisine, especially the Ribollita.
-The location and general facilities offered are of a high standard, e.g., pool, outside seating area, wifi etc, only the weather prevented us from making the most of them.
- great shower, nice modern bathroom, loads of hot water, nice fluffy towels and good quality bedding
- provision of anti-mosquito machines

However, we would like to suggest the following improvements:
- on arrival, after a long journey, it would be much appreciated if the following basics were provided: more than the remnants of one toilet roll, a dishcloth, washing up liquid and a kitchen towel, salt and pepper, and perhaps even a small bottle of olive oil.
- enough crockery and glasswear (only one beer glass) for the size of apartment (4people) and a chopping board.
- a mirror in the twin bedroom
- we wrongly assumed that the artisanal beer advertised would be Italian, but it was Austrian. It was good, but we would have preferred an Italian beer. When we holiday in a country we try to support the local economy and buy local/national produce and not imported goods. It would be like buying French wine in Italy!
-a corkscrew in all apartments as our neighbours had to borrow ours on a couple of occasions. Obviously, not a problem for us, but it is an important piece of equipment for a holiday apartment next to the Chianti region!

We did not find the breakfast to be good value for money at €6-8. The availability of a cappuccino at breakfast is a prerequisite of an Italian holiday, in our opinion, only coffee in a flask was available, no black tea and nothing savoury e.g. Cold meats, cheese or eggs.

There are no restaurants in the village of Reggello, only bars and cafes. Reggello village is a good 15 min walk and the return is steep. The nearest restaurants are either towards Vallombrosa or in Cascia, a good 30 min walk. There is a great restaurant next to the church in Cascia that focuses on fish which was suggested by Sabine. A great recommendation!

We needed to change our plans and leave early. We appreciated the fact that Silvia and Sabine were accommodating of our needs. Thank you.

Dear Guest,

Thanks for your review and for pointing out the qualities of our house and property, I'm sorry that you have not used all outdoor facilities 'cause of the rainy weather.

About the proposed improvements suggested:

I totally agree on the beer, I spoke with the owner and I convinced him to buy Tuscan craft beers, which are very good.

The glasses : unfortunately we had groups that have previously mixed and carried the glasses throughout the farm and in the other apartments. We apologize for the inconvenience!

The corkscrew: Girasole apt is next to our B&B rooms , I think that anyone who has asked the corkscrew has been housed in a room.
All the apartments have a corkscrew, the rooms no.

Mirrors: The rooms with twin beds are usually occupied by children, for a question of safety we do not install mirrors

Reggello and Cascia are to 1 km, Reggello there is only one restaurant, not in the center, I'm sorry you could not attend the opening of the old and famous Foffo bar, in the center of Reggello where you can also eat.

Finally, we thank you for choosing us , hoping to have you as guests another time!

Kind regards

Martin

We have just returned form a fantastic trip to Italy. A big portion of our trip was spent at Fattoria La Torre. We rented all of the apartments and B&B rooms for two weeks in July/August 2012 to house all of or family and some friends as well, at peak we had 35 people in residence. The location up in the foothills means that it is a good 10 degrees (F) cooler than in the valley, I was concerned about no AC, but it was not a problem, there was always a nice breeze. There are hiking trails extending behind the property and members of our group enjoyed exploring the trails, and getting in some good exercise. The accommodations were good and are very accurately represented on the website. The B&B rooms are more recently renovated and are a bit nicer than the apartments. The staff, Sabine & Lisa, were very friendly and helpful. The location up on the hillside is nice and the view every morning and evening is exceptional. Easy access to the Autostrada, Chianti region and Florence (although I suggest taking the train into Florence from Figline Valdarno) The walk into Regello is quick on the way down, but it is a steep walk back. Regello is a functional town and has a couple of bars/cafes, grocery store, bank etc. Not the quaintest of Tuscan towns but serviceable.

Room Tip: B&B Rooms are kind of like apartments as well Tratorre Alta & Bassa sharing a living room/ki...

Fattoria La Torre is a really nice place. We stayed in Fieline (july 2012), a nice little stone house with 2 bedrooms upstairs (fan in the roof) and private terrace just outside the house with a beutiful view over the valley. A nice pool in the nice garden. A great place if you want silence and sun and not many people around you. The road to the place is very steep, so its not easy to have a little walk.
The children loved the dogs at the place :-)
