What a great spot! Tucked into the fields 30 minutes from Florence is the country retreat of Villa Rigacci, with a lovely pool, friendly staff, comfortable rooms and delicious dinners on the patio. For 5 nights it was our home base from which we explored Florence, Chianti, San Giminiano, Pienza, Montepulciano and the nearby village of Regello.
Pros: Air conditioned and spacious, large bathroom, plentiful towels, nice linens, delicious dinners, nice breakfast, amazing pool, great service, clean and tucked away in the hills near the villages of Vaggio and Regello. Great home base to explore Florence and other Tuscan towns, returning after a hot day to a nice pool and warm hosts. Great stay for our family of 4 (11 & 12 yrs). Ping pong table, a friendly dog, great pool and plenty of space to run around kept our kids content while we relaxed on the patio over a gass of Chianti and Antipasti.
Cons: None, really. If you are expecting a modern hotel, you are in the wrong place. But if you are looking for a taste of a country Tuscan home, in casual yet comfortable surroundings, you will find yourself at home. The owners are hands on, friendly and the restaurat Manager, Ali is also friendly and accomodating. No Wi-fi, but you can get online via a hard wire connection in the lounge area.
Thank you Villa Rigacci for a wonderful home away from home!More
