“A very lucky chance”
Reviewed November 9, 2011

Driving across Italy, we got the warning of traffic problems and left the autostrade at Firenze. By pure chance we noticed this restaurant on a small hill near to the main road to the South. All you need to know is that the building has character, the owner and staff are friendly and efficient and the cook knows his business very well. Try it, you won't regret it.

“Perfect food served overlooking hillside castle served by a friendly, excellent staff”
Reviewed October 1, 2011

We were looking for lunch after visiting the outlet malls and one of the stores recommended this place. The drive up the hill to the outdoor patio overlooking the nearby castle was promised great things. The easy-going staff and delicious food made for a very enjoyable afternoon.

“DON'T EVER MISS OUT ON THIS ONE.”
Reviewed August 23, 2011

I can no longer count the amount of times I have eaten at Il Canniccio. Pick the seasons< i have been there in each one with a different dish to accompany my time perfectly. A random restaurant found on a shopping day, we passed it on the car and decided to eat. Friends I could write an essay on this place, it has accumulated great moments of my life and great meals too. To spare you the boredom of reading my melancholy, here are some suggestions. In the summer eat outside on their terrace, the view is wonderful and you will feel like your in a scene from "a good year" with Russell Crowe, add a fiorentina steak with oven potatoes and a good bottle of red made locally at the castle that looms in the distance. In the winter eat Cinghial (wild boar) eat their crostini and always drink the red made at the castle (because it is delciious and costs 8 EUROS...A BOTTLE). Either way my message to you is eat there at some point, it will be the start of a love affair.
