“Heaven amongst the lemons”

We were in Italy for a family wedding. With prices beyond our budget, it was looking unlikely that we could make the nuptials in Ravello until we found Giardino dei Limone.

And after a terrible hotel experience in Rome, a white knuckle taxi ride, a journey from hell on public transport only just running thanks to a 9am - 5pm strike (and in Salerno, 9am to whenever we feel like it) our experience at this fantastic B&B restored our faith in humanity.

We tumbled out of the taxi past midnight on the evening of our arrival, at the top of 120 steps with two car sick children, two sulky teenagers, rucksacked and rumpled from seven hours travelling, and fell straight into the arms of the owner who had waited up for us, carried our bags down and escorted us to our beds.

In the morning, the view that greeted us washed away all the trauma of the day before. Even my normally very vocal five year old was lost for words at the sight of the sea and the mountains! That day, he and his sister played in the shaded gardens while we unwound further.

The wedding was in Ravello - which is a good old climb away. We managed it okay, but in the heat of the sun and our posh frocks, we arrived in the square a little worse for wear. Downhill with lots of Prosseco inside us at 3am was much easier - even carrying a sleeping bridesmaid! The steps shouldn't be a problem for anyone with a regular level of fitness, but take your time and take some water.

Overall, this B&B is a real find. The rooms are simple but comfortable, with great beds and a put up bed for kids at no extra cost. There is a washing machine, satellite television, kitchen and free wifi. We'll definately go again.

We stayed just one night at Giardino dei Limoni when the owner found us accommodation when we were lost on the hillside late in th evening unable to find the b and b we had booked i.e. "I Limoni". We had a comfortable night's stay here in a well equipped appartment which had a wonderful view. There are certainly a number of steps down to Giardino dei Limoni but nothing compared with those leading down to "I Limoni" where we spent the next three nights. Do not get confused between the two properties -the favourable comments on Trip Advisor relate to Giardino dei Limoni.

What else can I say? A great, great place with all pluses. Barring the stpes of which you may have already read. To get from the street level to my room, 159 steps ot be precise. But all was offset by the host and the views. having breakfast ofr a glass of wine overlooking the Gulf of Salerno is unforgettable. All pictures at the website are true.

Good value for money. This is the one we can find the cheapest in Amalfi. The apartment was clean and perfectly equiped with essentials. Two lovely friendly cats welcome guests at the entrance. The view from the apartment is fantastic. Pretty good for enjoying the sunrise and sunset. The host is very friendly and offers many useful travel information you need.

One thing puts it down a little bit is the locatoin. The location may be car driver friendly, however not for walking backpackers. Bus stop locates far away from the apartment. According to the host, the distance from the bus stop to the location is 400 meters which is not true. It takes a good half an hour walk (as long as you are clear about the direction) from the bus stop down to it. No mention if you carry a wheeli luggage or big backpack. You may take a taxi from the bus stop to the apartment, however be careful about the taxi driver will rip you off. The first taxi driver asked me for 20 EURO, but actually 10 EURO is pretty enough according to the host of the apartment. So do have a bargain for the taxi fare.

All in all, a good place to stay. I will certainly recommend people to go to ^ ^

The views from this b&b are breathtaking and well worth the climb down the steps. The apartment itself was a decent size, a little shabby chic but very comfortable. The breakfast was left stocked in the kitchen so that you helped yourself during your stay. There was a very generous amount of food left for our 5 night stay and we didn't manage to eat it all.

It appears each apartment has its own balcony with the wonderful sea views across the coast. The area is very peaceful and relaxing and we ended up spending most of the time when it was too hot to go anywhere staying around the b&b. There is a newly built communal roof terrace among the lemon groves with a couple of sun loungers and a shower.

Its definitely a get away from it all place and there isn't much to do around the B&B, you need to walk into Ravello. As with all the other reviews beware of the number of steps to the town! The first time we did it we swore we would have to find a different location to stay but once you reach Ravello it all seems worth it. You need to take it steady and don't do it midday when its very hot!

We loved our stay here (3 nights). Yes, there are stairs up to the town of Ravello (very quiet in December), but there are also wonderful paths to Amalfi, etc. and a truly spectacular view. Our room had a great regular bed, excellent full tub, and kitchenette, with abundantly stocked breakfast items.

We ended up cooking simple pasta and soup dishes for evening meals, and enjoying the views, after days out exploring.

We had a car, but left it parked while hiking the Path of the Gods (highly recommended for hikers), took the bus to Amalfi, and return from Positano. Fabulous for an off-season base and the family was extremely nice and welcoming.

We had wireless internet access, as well, after asking, a plus!

This is a very cheap and cheerful B&B. The bed was a sofa bed but actually comfy. Great views from the balcony.
If you are looking for a cheap place to crash in Ravello, this is it. It's certainly not a 5* hotel, but for the price, it is by far the cheapest thing I found when booking.
Good for students/middle incomes. Not good for designer living!
