Reviewed August 7, 2014

This hotel is very expensive, but it delivers on all fronts. The views on the website are spot one. I could not imagine a better view in Italy. Wow. The grounds are perfectly groomed with beautiful plants and flowers. The service is amazing. Anthony and his crew at the front desk made a lot of great recommendations for dinner, a boat ride to Capri, and a breathtaking venue for a concert at the Ravello Music Festival. The stay at the Palazzo was the highlight of our trip. It is truly an experience of a lifetime. The town of Ravello is a piece of heaven.

The rooms are a little small because the hotel is not large, maybe 45 rooms. The bed, linens and other room amenities are 5 stars. The hotel has a private beach about 15 minutes down the mountain or you can lay out by the pool and look at the incredible Almalfi coastline. The breakfast in the morning was very good with the same views. I did not want breakfast to end. We did dine at Rossellini's at night, the hotel's best restaurant. I would highly recommend this experience. The views and the service is amazing. We ordered the tasting menu, one for meat and one for seafood. Personally, I did not care for some of the choices on the seafood tasting menu so I would recommend ordering individually off the menu. This is a very romantic dining experience with impeccable service so it was worth it.

Ravello is a charming and small city away from the crowds of summer. We stopped in Amalfi, Capri and Positano. They were beautiful and busy cities, but Ravello blew it away by comparison. Ravello is located about halfway up the mountain. It is so charming and beautiful with a good number of restaurants around the square and cathedral. it has such a wonderful vibe. Once you go to Ravello, I cannot imagine going to any other city on the Amalfi coast. I found it by luck, through the AMX fine hotels program.

I would highly recommend Palazzo Avino if you can afford it. Even if you cannot, save up and treat yourself for it is an amazing experience. It truly is an experience of a lifetime.

Room Tip: Request a sea view room, preferably the 4th floor (top floor)

The hotel is beautiful, the lobby is very fresh and inviting. The room had a balcony with a very a perfect view of the property's beautiful grounds and the ocean. The hotel staff is very professional, friendly, and helpful. The restaurants are all delicious, we gravitated to the casual martini and lobster bar on most evenings. The selection of martinis is incredible. The pool if fabulous and so is the spa. I have no complaints about this hotel and we will definitely go back.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at Palazzo Avino and highly recommend the hotel. The staff is first rate, very attentive and nice. The lounges at the pool area have an amazing view of the sea, though they are situated on grass (which not everyone likes). The pool is nice but a little small, and you can't sit facing the pool which is a bit of a drawback. A great feature is the beach club, make sure to book the earliest possible shuttle as their are only 14 lounges on the lower decks by the sea (and only 4 on the lowest deck). The restaurant is Michelin rated and deservedly so, and the excellent food is matched by the amazing view. I withheld the 5th star because our room was quite small and the bathroom had a shower curtain (a big no-no in my book), but we were in a mountainside room and I assume the more expensive rooms are larger and better appointed.

Room Tip: Our room was quite small and the bathroom had a shower curtain (a big no-no in my book), but we were...

Dear Guest,

Thank you to taking the time to write such a kind feedback on your recent stay at Palazzo Avino!

We are very pleased to hear that you appreciated our location and the attentive staff.
We are sorry to hear your impression about the swimming pool. However the size is one of the biggest available on the Amalfi Coast.
Regarding the shower we have curtains only in a few bathrooms and we are progressively changing them with glass.

Remaining at your disposal for any further information, we hope to welcome you back in the near future

Kind regards

My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Palazzo Avino with our 9 month old son. The hotel and grounds are even more beautiful in person. Beautiful views, lovely pool, and attentive staff that were very friendly and so sweet to our son. They had a full high chair with tray that was much appreciative for breakfast and lunch. For dinner we booked a babysitter through the hotel and she was great. Food at the hotel was excellent all around.

We booked the hotel through American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts which gives you a 4pm check out and 85 euros to spend at the spa, which we took advantage of. The hotel was completely sold out while we were there but it didn't feel crowded (except at their beach, which I mention below). We booked a mountain side room that didn't really have a view of the mountain, more the town, but still pretty. If you can afford it I would splurge on an ocean view though. Room was very large for european standards with a full couch, coffee table and plenty of room for the crib. Large bathroom as well.

We took the shuttle to the hotel's private beach for lunch one day. Pizza there was very good. Unfortunately we didn't have time to swim. Another beautiful spot. I will say though that their beach chairs did fill up, so probably best to go there earlier in the day if there during the high season.

My only complaint was that our room smelled like cigarette smoke when we first arrived. They did their best to air it out while they provided us with complimentary drinks and snacks at the outdoor bar. At 18 euros or so a drink, it made up for it and the room smelled much better after the cleaning. And since everything else was perfect about our stay I can't get myself to deduct a star. This property is truly exceptional and I have stayed at some of the top hotels in the world.

Room Tip: If you can afford it get an ocean view. If you can't, get the mountain view and enjoy all of the...

3 couples stayed here for 3 nights...it was very hard to leave to come home. We visited Poitano, and Capri, saw the expensive hotels that are very well known there, and were sure we had made the right move to stay in Ravello, at Palazzo Avino.
Antonio leads an expert staff that saw to all out needs, and anticipated some we didn't know we had. The "Beach Club" is a singular experience. There is luxurious service around the pool, and on the terraced land around the hotel. The property is at the top of the hill that is occupied by Ravello. The views are amazing.

Great hotel. Exceptional staff, courteous, prompt, friendly. Immediately upon checkin our luggage was taken to our rooms. I was upgraded on arrival and my room had the most amazing views of any hotel in which I have ever stayed of the Amalfi coast, lovely manicured hotel grounds and town below. The included breakfast was amazing with lots of fresh fruit, meats, and freshly prepared omelette to your liking. The evening meals were great and the pasta was well prepared. I was lucky enough to ride the hotel bus down to the seaside and have lunch down there alongside the Mediterranean. Be warned! The steps are formidable to get to the seaside, but it is well worth it if you are in good shape. The food was just ok, but the experience was unrivaled. We also received suggestions form the concierge for local walking tours when we were not enjoying the hotel grounds. The rooms were had tiled floors and cathedral style floor to ceiling windows. The room was not especially spacious, but was not cramped either. The linens were soft and pressed. I happened to leave my camera lens there and the hotel found and mailed it to me free of charge via Fedex. I was very impressed with this.

Room Tip: The higher up the better.

My wife and I stayed here on our recent honeymoon and had an amazing time at Palazzo Avino. We took a car from Almafi and were greeted warmly by the staff and given a thorough tour of the beautifully landscaped grounds. The service was prompt and the staff was extremely friendly during our stay. It is hard to describe how amazing the views are of the coast and mountains. The pool/lounge areas are nice and spacious and the pool staff was very attentive and courteous. Their rooftop "hot tub" area is nice and provides even more stunning views. We ate at the "casual" dining area one evening and the food was delicious, though we regret not having time to eat at their formal award- winning restaurant. Breakfast was delicious each morning, as well. We can't really think of anything negative about the place and would highly recommend. Worth the splurge.
