“Breathtaking views with wonderful hosts.”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

From our arrival at Villa Casale our hosts were very attentive. Nothing was too much trouble.
We hired a car for the day, which was arranged and delivered to our door by Villa Casale.
Plenty of local restaurants to choose from and savour.
Catching the local bus down to Amalfi is a must do as the ice-cream is amazing.
Experiencing the concert at the Rufolo Gardens in Ravello was wonderful.
Hoping to return very soon.

We have just returned from beautiful Ravello where our daughter got married. We were delighted with the venue for the wedding and also delighted with our choice for accomodation. We had booked 6 of the 9 apartments in Villa Casale for various durations and could not be happier with the location and the quality of the facilities. But above all was the fantastic communication pre and during our stay and the genuine care and service provided. Marissa, Flavia, Paulo and the tireless Martina, all made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We had a lot of time to look around Ravello, and I can honestly say that I do not think there is a better place with a better location with better views than Villa Casale. Thank you all so much Flavia, we will be back without hesitation ! I will post some photos as soon as I have time to download them.

Room Tip: Zagara is the best apartment for accomodation. Wagner has the best views.

I'm sure that somewhere in the world there is a place as picturesque as Ravello but I have certainly never been there. Villa Casale is very close to the centre of town but has stunning views down towards the towns on the Amalfi coast and the mountains and the sea as well as the Ravello town itself. The pool is a good size and although the Villa was full, never crowded. The Zagara apartment itself is very spacious and has all you would need. Bathroom is a bit dated though but that is a minor point.

We were lucky enough to be staying during the Ravello festival held in the nearby Villa Rufulo which means that you get to see and hear the concerts each evening from the comfort of your own terrace. Generally this is great though there was one concert held to coincide with the sunrise which was something of a surprise when it started up at 5am. If you are not a music lover though I would avoid this time of year though.

Villa Casale is set in lovely gardens and the owner was kind enough to give us some of her homegrown tomatoes which were both tasty and huge. A nice touch.

Parking is a problem and so we went for the 15Euros a day valet parking option. The lads who ran that were very good. Always had the car to the meeting point quickly.

Ravello is a small town but there are loads of things to do and see. Villa Rufulo and Villa Cimbrone are both well worth the entrance fee. Villa Cimbrone especially is a gorgeous place to walk around and has views north towards Amalfi whereas most of the town faces south towards Minori and Maiori. There is also a good bus service which gets you down to the towns on the coast for a modest fee. In my opinion you really have not experienced the real Italy until you have had a bus ride down the twisting roads to the coast, though don't do it on a full stomach.

I've seen one review of this place complaining about the internet connection. Leaving aside the question of why you would want to go to Ravello and then spend time on the internet I have to admit to attempting to connect my phone up on one occasion and having no problem at all. To round off a fantastic few days I found out that England had snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in the 4th test match and won the Ashes. Life doesn't get any better than that.

Room Tip: I only saw Zagara and would strongly recommend.

Il dolce far niente .... we had heard the expression years ago, but did not experience its meaning until we hit Villa Casale! We left the busyness and jetlag behind in Rome using the 300 km per hr. Frecciarossa train to Naples and then a hired car and driver to Ravello, the vehicles to start our journey into the sweetness of doing nothing. It was our 30th anniversary and there was a cold bottle of champagne waiting for us in the fridge - a very nice touch. The Zagara suite (the Junior seaview suite) is especially lovely and the view from our terrace so spectacular it had us sitting peacefully just marvelling at the beauty of it all. It was the perfect setting to have lunch made from all the local foods and wines. The kitchen is very well equipped with beautiful plates to enhance any meal prepared here.
No, the weather was not great; we saw spectacular thunderstorms and I swam in the pool every morning in the ‘worst May they have seen in 30 years’, but it only makes me wonder, if we loved it so much in these conditions imagine if we luck in next year and experience normal weather!
A huge thank you to Flavia and Martina who made our vacation so special. Whether we were asking Martina to check something on the computer, or where to buy the best cashmere, or how to get to Mamma Agata’s, she was always perfectly helpful and fun!
And a very sincere thank you to Carlo, our driver (Andrea Ruocco car service) who recommended Garden restaurant (the food and view both superb) and vineyard Tenuta San Francesco. We tried 3 of their wines; all delicious.
Can’t wait to go back and this time we will stay longer than 3 days.

Do not go here if you want internet!!.

We returned to Villa Casale again because it makes the most of the stunning views of the Amalfi Coast which can be had from Ravello, is conveniently located near to the town centre and has a lovely swimming pool.

Last year we and other guests complained about the misleading claim that there is was internet access. We were promised this would be remedied, but this has not been done.
Martine ,who manages it and the cleaning staff are charming and as helpful as can be, given what I can only presume is the lack of support from the owners, who have failed to remedy the problem.

Moreover, on one of the days of our expensive stay at the Mozart apartment, the owner threw a pool party for 40 school children, effectively forcing us out of the Villa for the day, without any offer of recompense or apology . It, together with the misrepresentation about intenet indicates an arrogance towards their guests which means we will not return.

Let me also add that the kitchen in the Mozart apartment is so small as to be completely unusable. There is not even cupboard space for coffee, tea and biscuits!

My wife and I stayed at Villa Casale in late December 2012 and early January 2013 for our belated honeymoon and we couldn't have chosen a better place. The facilities, staff and views were all spectacular and made for a perfect saty. The staff were very friendly and eager to answer any of our questions, like the local bus timetables, restaurants and driving directions.

The Villa is set into the hillside and no more than a 2 minute walk from the town square. It is close to everything and the views are wonderful. Can't wait to return.

We stayed in the Mozart apartment at Villa Casale and it was brilliant.

This was our second year running visiting Ravello, but our first at Villa Casale and it lived up to our hopes. We had our own private patio (and actually, because some of the other apartments were empty, pretty much had our own little garden area just to ourselves).

For music lovers I have one piece of advice - book this apartment during the Ravello festival! We were there for the tail end of events and, as the apartment terrace looks out to sea and up towards Villa Ruffalo, we were able to sit out on an evening enjoying a glass of wine while listening to world leading musicians and orchestras.

There are quite a few steps to navigate going to and from the main square etc but we just used that as an excuse to eat more gorgeous food in the local restaurants - we'd burnt off the calories getting there!

The pool area is stunning and gives you one of the best views from Ravello. The only slight issue we had was while we were there, a large group had a few of the apartments and together, by the pool, were quite noisy - but this was an issue with them, not really the venue itself. However, on most occasions we timed our visit to the pool just right and at those times, I can't think of a more relaxing and beautiful spot.

The owners were really helpful and friendly. We didn't really have too much to bother them with but I got the impression they would pretty much be happy to help with anything.

In terms of Ravello itself, there aren't really enough words to say how much we love it. It isn't very big but I could spend hours walking round its little streets and sitting in the square at one of the cafes (our favourite being the Duomo Cafe by the way - great cocktails in the evening!). Haven't had a bad meal anywhere but would recommend the following in particular:

Villa Amore - very reasonable prices serving local classics (great waiter)
Ristorante Salvatore - bit more expensive but fantastic food (and a talking parrot)
Villa Maria - very expensive but worth it - grow their own produce, one of the most romantic views in Ravello and even offer a spot of evening mandolin.
