“Wonderfull experience”
Reviewed March 27, 2014

We spent 10 wonderfull days at Palazzo Castro al Duomo. The owners were extremely nice and helpfull people. The old Palaze with all the balconies and beautifull rooms and the excellent service was enjoyable and breakfast with homemade jam and new dessert every morning was the best. The location is beautifull and so is the baroque environnement and the hosts shared their exciting family history with us.

Room Tip: the bridal suite has a beautifull view and balcony

We had a really relaxing time in Ragusa Ibla at this wonderful B&B. There was a wonderful welcome when we arrived at this magnificent large family house. Our 4 night stay was greatly enhanced by all the information provided by our host Erminia. The room was large clean and had a wonderful balcony overlooking the Duomo where we watched a typical Sicilian wedding and the activity at the cafe outside. There was plenty to eat at breakfast with different traditional home made delicacies each morning.

There were plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance, and an excellent cheap bus service into Ragusa from the bus stop 100 yards away. If you are touring Sicily, dont miss this one.

Room Tip: Our room with the balcony was excellent.

We were in a day trip in Ragusa in December and decided to stay overnight completely spontaneously. Checked few B&Bs and hotels and decided to stay in Palazzo Castro. It was a great choice! Despite the fact that we did not book in advance, all the rooms were spotless clean and ready for the customers. The heating was immediately switched on and made our room nice and warm, the breakfast was great. This stay was one of the highlights if our trip to Sicily due to the charming town, great hotel and our nice hosts. Definitely highly recommended.

Room Tip: We took a room with windows to the inner yard and were very pleased - it was very warm and cozy duri...

If you're looking for a charming place to stay in Ragusa, this is it! Not only will the building/rooms draw you in, but Ermenia, your host is the reason this place is so wonderful. She was warm & welcoming and couldn't have been more accomodating. Showed us several rooms from which to choose before we settled on one in the back with a balcony and beautiful view. Beds were comfortable & bathroom was spotless! Plenty of room for all of our "stuff" (we're in Italy for 3 weeks). We were the only guests for the night and in the morning, Ermenia prepared a typical breakfast of Ragusa for us which included fresh Ricotta (on which you drizzle honey, then put that on a freshly baked croissant or bread -- OH.MY.), biscuits, excellent coffee and the list goes on. She then shared information about Ragusa so we could explore the city. A wonderful place to stay -- it is no doubt it is number one and will continue to be!

We stayed in the beautiful and spacious Jasmin room overlooking the Duomo and the center of Ibla. The sisters are very charming, breakfast typically sicilian and surprising. The palazzo is a fascinating place, we would definetely recommand staying there.

Everything said in the other reviews is perfectly true: the palazzo is beautifully placed, Ragusa is charming and peaceful, the palazzo itself is interesting and comfortable, but what made the visit so very pleasurable was the friendliness of Ereminia, happy to talk to us about the interesting things in her house, about the (truly gorgeous) foods she provided for breakfast, about the lovely courtyard garden and her hopes of restoring the greenhouse. Altogether such a personal experience. We didn't meet Ereminia's sister: perhaps we will need to go back! We'd certainly love to.

The two sisters who run the B&B are very lovely as well as being efficient, great cooks, and extremely helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in their historic mansion. It was wonderful to be located right in the center of Ragusa Ibla in such a beautifully decorated historic building. We were especially grateful to the sisters for helping us with directions in and out of the city.

Room Tip: We were in a large room on the top floor where we could stretch out. All the rooms looked lovely, h...
